Urban sustainable renewal has received extensive attention in a wide range of fields, including urban planning, urban management, energy management, and transportation. Given that environmental resource conservation is critical to urban sustainability renewal, this study highlighted the imbalance among green space, urban development, and transportation accessibility. Here, a novel node-place-green model is presented to measure sustainable urban development; meanwhile, deep learning is utilized to identify and extract the green space to measure the environmental index. Based on the generated node, place, and green value, urban developing status could be classified into nine modes for further analysis of transportation, urban function, and ecological construction. The experimental results of Harbin reveal the feasibility of the proposed method in providing specific guidelines for urban planning and policies on sustainable development.

Abstract Understanding of the impact on the thermal effect by urbanization is of great significance for urban thermal regulation, it is essential to determine the relationship between the urban heat island (UHI) effect and the complexities of urban function and landscape structure. For this purpose, we conducted a case research in the metropolitan region of Beijing, China, and >5000 urban blocks assigned with different urban function zones (UFZs) were identified as the basic spatial analysis units. Seasonal land surface temperature (LST) retrieved from remote sensing data were used to represent the UHI characteristics of the study area, and surface biophysical parameters, building forms, and landscape pattern metrics were selected as the urban landscape factors. Then, the effects of urban function and landscape structure on the UHI effect were examined by spatial regression models. The results indicated that: (1) Significant spatio-temporal heterogeneity of LST were found in the study area, and there was obvious temperature gradient with “working-living-resting” UFZs; (2) All the types of urban landscape factors showed significant contribution to seasonal LST, and sorted by surface biophysical factors > building forms > landscape factors. However, their contributions varied in different seasons; (3) The major contribute factors showed a certain difference due to the variation of urban function and landscape complexity. This study expands understanding on the complex relationship among urban landscape, function, and thermal environment, which could benefit urban landscape planning for UHI alleviation.

<p>Today, with urban function system increasingly complicated, there exist problems which are seriously hindering urban sustainable development in most cities such as traffic jams, constructive destruction, building space separation with traffic space, poor urban space resource utilization and so on. So the article makes a number of integration methods of urban building space and transportation space from the perspective of urban morphology integration. It tries to integrate urban environment with techniques of multidimensional space interludes, cascading, infiltration between building space and traffic space in three-dimensional space coordinates, to achieve the objectives   of proper division, solving traffic congestion problems and the establishment of a new dynamic three-dimensional transport system.</p>

In view of the overall space of Urumqi, use of overall space is not sufficient, detail partition in the major functional divisions is imperfect, land functional structure is irrational, city operation is not efficient, traffic congestion, air pollution is serious, etc, use optimizing the urban functional divisions method, study on inter-relate between the city urban functions zoning and urban effective and efficient, through its intrinsic link explore optional ideas to find a perfect urban planning.

Along with the increasing development of Chinese urbanization, there have been a lot of cities facing the problem of old city renewal. However, during the process of re-plan and reconstruction of the old city, there is a series of changing that refers to the changing of land-use function, adjustment of land layout and the improvement of development intensity, which would change the load and setting of the urban infrastructures. Therefore, how to renew the municipal facilities safely and effectively to guarantee the routine life of people has become a crucial problem in the old city renewal. This paper takes the case study of Hengdaohezi town emphasizing the discussion on re-planning the municipal facilities in the process of old city renewal. Here, the author suggested that municipal facility planning should be carried out under the premise of safety and reliability. In the process of analysis, it should give consideration on the change of urban function and character as well, in order to make the municipal facility planning more scientific and reasonable providing support for the old city renewal from the perspective of municipal engineering.

Urban region functions are the types of potential activities in an urban region, such as residence, commerce, transportation, entertainment, etc. A service which mines urban region functions is of great value for various applications, including urban planning and transportation management, etc. Many studies have been carried out to dig out different regions’ functions, but few studies are based on social media text analysis. Considering that the semantic information embedded in social media texts is very useful to infer an urban region’s main functions, we design a service which extracts human activities using Sina Weibo ( www.weibo.com ; the largest microblog system in Chinese, similar to Twitter) with location information and further describes a region’s main functions with a function vector based on the human activities. First, we predefine a variety of human activities to get the related activities corresponding to each Weibo post using an urban function classification model. Second, urban regions’ function vectors are generated, with which we can easily do some high-level work such as similar place recommendation. At last, with the function vectors generated, we develop a Web application for urban region function querying. We also conduct a case study among the urban regions in Beijing, and the experiment results demonstrate the feasibility of our method.
