AbstractWe probe the effective field theory extending the Standard Model with a sterile neutrino in B meson decays at B factories and lepton colliders, using angular and polarization observables. We put bounds on different effective operators characterized by their distinct Dirac–Lorentz structure, and probe the N-mediated B decays sensitivity to these interactions. We define a forward–backward asymmetry $$A_\mathrm{FB}^{\ell \gamma }$$ A FB ℓ γ between the muon and photon directions for the $$B \rightarrow \mu \nu \gamma $$ B → μ ν γ decay, which allows us to separate the SM contribution from the effective lepton number conserving and violating processes, mediated by a near on-shell N. Using the most stringent constraints on the effective parameter space from Belle and BaBar we find that a measurement of the final polarization $$P_{\tau }$$ P τ in the rare $$B^-\rightarrow \ell ^-_{1}\ell ^-_{2} \pi ^+$$ B - → ℓ 1 - ℓ 2 - π + decays can help us infer the scalar or vector interaction content in the N production or decay vertices. We find that the B meson decays are more sensitive to scalar operators.

Recent BaBar results on rare B decays involving flavor changing neutral currents are presented. New measurements of the CP asymmetries in b→sγ and B→K*γ decays are reported as well as B→K(*)l+l- and b→sl+l- branching ratio measurements. The data sample comprises [Formula: see text] decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring.

Using perturbative QCD within the framework of Szczepaniak et al. (1990), we analyse different non-leptonic B decays, namely B → Π Π , B → Π (K)D, B → DD, as heavy-to-light transitions dominated by tree diagrams and compare our estimates to experimental data and other theoretical model predictions.

This article summarizes recent developments in B\to D^{(\ast)}\tau\nuB→D(*)τν decays. We explain how to extract the tau lepton’s production properties from the kinematics of its decay products. The focus is on hadronic tau decays, which are most sensitive to the tau polarizations. We present new results for effects of new physics in tau polarization observables and quantify the observation prospects at BELLE II.

We review the effective Lagrangian of the Higgs penguin in the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM). As a master application of the Higgs penguin, we discuss in some detail the B-meson decays into a lepton–antilepton pair. Furthermore, we explain how this can probe the Higgs sector of the MSSM provided that some of these decays are seen at Tevatron Run II and B-factories. Finally, we present a complete list of observables where the Higgs penguin could be strongly involved.

We briefly summarize up-to-date results on the determination of the parameters of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix |Vcb| and |Vub|, which play an important role in the unitarity triangle and in testing the Standard Model, and recent results on semileptonic B meson decays involving a τ lepton.

Some recent progress in China in the study of charmless B decays with QCD factorization is reviewed. Chirally enhanced power corrections and infrared divergence problem are stressed.
