We investigate the effects of time delay and noise correlation on the stochastic resonance induced by a multiplicative signal in an asymmetric bistable system. By the two-state theory and small delay approximation, the expression of the output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is obtained in the adiabatic limit. The results show that SNR as a function of the multiplicative noise intensity D shows a transition from two peaks to one peak with the decreasing of cross-correlation strength λ and the increasing of delay time τ. Moreover, there are the doubly critical phenomena for SNR versus λ and τ, and SNR versus D and α (additive noise intensity).

In this paper, the regime shift behaviors between the prosperous state and the extinction state and stochastic resonance (SR) phenomenon for a metapopulation system subjected to time delay and correlated Gaussian colored noises are investigated. Through the numerical calculation of the modified potential function and the stationary probability density function (SPDF), one can make clearly the following results: Both multiplicative noise and noise correlation times can improve effectively the ecological stability and prolong the survival time of the system; while additive noise, time delay and noise correlation strength can weaken significantly the biological stability and speed up the extinction of the population. As for the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), it is found that time delay, multiplicative noise and noise correlation strength can all impair the SR effect. Conversely, the two noise correlation times and additive noise are in favor of the improvement of the peak values of SNR. It is particularly worth mentioning that in the case of [Formula: see text], time delay [Formula: see text] and self-correlation time [Formula: see text] of the additive noise display exactly the opposite effect on the stimulation of the resonant peak in the SNR–[Formula: see text] plots.

This paper investigates a new asymmetric bistable model driven by correlated multiplicative colored noise and additive white noise. The mean first-passage time (MFPT) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) as the indexes of evaluating the model are researched. Based on the two-state theory and the adiabatic approximation theory, the expressions of MFPT and SNR have been obtained for the asymmetric bistable system driven by a periodic signal, correlated multiplicative colored noise and additive noise. Simulation results show that it is easier to generate stochastic resonance (SR) to adjust the intensity of correlation strength [Formula: see text]. Meanwhile, the decrease of asymmetric coefficient [Formula: see text] and the increase of noise intensity are beneficial to realize the transition between the two steady states in the system. At the same time, the twice SR phenomena can be observed by adjusting additive white noise and correlation strength. The influence of asymmetry of potential function on the MFPTs in two different directions is different.

Stochastic resonance (SR) is investigated in a multistable system driven by Gaussian white noise. Using adiabatic elimination theory and three-state theory, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived. We find the effects of the noise intensity and the resonance system parametersb,c, anddon the SNR; the results show that SNR is a nonmonotonic function of the noise intensity; therefore, a multistable SR is found in this system, and the value of the peak changes with changing the system parameters.

In the present paper, for a Levins metapopulation system that is driven by correlated colored noises, the phenomenon of stochastic resonance (SR) is investigated. Based on the two-state theory and by the use of fast descent method, the expression of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is obtained. Via a numerical simulation, it is shown that the conventional SR occurs in the Levins model for the different values of system parameters. And furthermore, it is revealed that, under the different conditions that if the correlation intensities between the two noises are different, i.e. positive or negative, then all the effects of the addictive noise intensity, the multiplicative noise intensity, the correlated noise intensity and the correlation time on SNR are different.

We analyze the effect of the simultaneous presence of correlated additive and multiplicative noises on the stochastic resonance response of a modulated bistable system. We find that when the correlation parameter is also modulated, the system's response, measured through the output signal-to-noise ratio, becomes largely independent of the additive noise intensity.

The phenomenon of stochastic resonance in a bistable system with multiple delays is investigated. The analytic expression of approximation stationary probability density is obtained by using small delay approximation based on probability density approach. Numerical simulation is performed and it is shown that the analytic results are in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulation. Then the expression of the signal-to-noise (SNR) is derived by using two-state theory. Finally, the effect of multiple delays on SNR is discussed. It is found that the stochastic resonance phenomenon can be suppressed or promoted when multiple delays are increased.

The effect of time delay and noise color in a time-delayed bistable system subject to asymmetric dichotomous noise and colored noise as well as to square-wave signal is studied. Applying small delay-time approximation, under the adiabatic limit condition, we obtain the expression of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the system. By virtue of the SNR expression, we find that, the SNR varies non-monotonously with the delayed-time and the correlation of the colored noise. Moreover, the SNR exhibits SR behavior as a function of the strength of the colored noise

In this paper, the gene transcriptional dynamics driven by correlated noises are investigated, where the time delay for the synthesis of transcriptional factor is introduced. The effects of the noise correlation strength and time delay on the stationary probability distribution (SPD), the mean first passage time and the stochastic resonance (SR) are analyzed in detail based on the delay Fokker–Planck equation. It is found that both the time delay and noise correlation strength play important roles in the bistable transcriptional system. The effect of the correlation strength reduces but the time delay enhances the mean first passage time (MFPT). Finally, the SR for this gene transcriptional system is found to be enhanced by the time delay.

The asymmetric bistable system with time delays in the feedback force and random force under multiplicative and additive Gaussian noise is studied. Using the small time delay approximation approach and time-delayed Fokker–Planck equations (FPE), the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the proposed stochastic system is obtained. The stochastic resonance (SR) phenomena influenced by parameters — including system parameters [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], asymmetry parameter [Formula: see text], time delay [Formula: see text], strength [Formula: see text] of the time-delayed feedback, noise intensities [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] of multiplicative and additive noise, and correlation strength [Formula: see text] between two noises, are also analyzed by numerical simulations. Results demonstrate that the SR performance of the asymmetric bistable system is superior to one symmetric bistable system. Besides, both time delay and strength of time-delayed feedback could enhance the SR to some extent. Then, the asymmetric time-delayed bistable SR (ATDBSR) method is used to the bearing fault diagnosis. The engineering applications of the ATDBSR method are realized and the value of the method is verified by effective experimental results.
