In order to effectively improve the accuracy of Consumer Price Index (CPI) prediction so as to more truly reflect the overall level of the country’s macroeconomic situation, a CPI big data prediction method based on wavelet twin support vector machine (SVM) is proposed. First, the historical CPI data are decomposed into high-frequency part and low-frequency part by wavelet transform. Then a more advanced twin SVM is used to build a prediction model to obtain two kinds of prediction results. Finally, the wavelet reconstruction method is used to fuse the two kinds of prediction results to obtain the final CPI prediction results. The wavelet twin SVM model is used to fit and predict CPI index. Experimental results show that compared with the similar prediction methods, the proposed prediction method has higher fitting accuracy and smaller root mean square error.

By comprehensively analyzing the main factors affecting vertical ultimate bearing capacity of single pile, a prediction model of Support Vector Machine (SVM), which discusses the nonlinear relationship between vertical ultimate bearing capacity of single pile and influencing factors and analyzes the parameters on the performance of the model through sample knowledge learning, is established in this paper. The research results indicate that, SVM model, which is compared with BP neural networks model, possesses simple structure, flexible adaptability, high precision and powerful generalization ability, and can accurately reflect the actual mechanical characteristics of pile, therefore, SVM is an effective method for predicting vertical ultimate bearing capacity of single pile.

Economic development forecasting allows planners to choose the right strategies for the future. This study is to propose economic development prediction method based on the wavelet kernel-based primal twin support vector machine algorithm. As gross domestic product (GDP) is an important indicator to measure economic development, economic development prediction means GDP prediction in this study. The wavelet kernel-based primal twin support vector machine algorithm can solve two smaller sized quadratic programming problems instead of solving a large one as in the traditional support vector machine algorithm. Economic development data of Anhui province from 1992 to 2009 are used to study the prediction performance of the wavelet kernel-based primal twin support vector machine algorithm. The comparison of mean error of economic development prediction between wavelet kernel-based primal twin support vector machine and traditional support vector machine models trained by the training samples with the 3–5 dimensional input vectors, respectively, is given in this paper. The testing results show that the economic development prediction accuracy of the wavelet kernel-based primal twin support vector machine model is better than that of traditional support vector machine.

Support Vector Machine (SVM) model optimized by K-Fold cross-validation was built to predict and evaluate the degradation of concrete strength in a complicated marine environment. Meanwhile, several mathematical models, such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Decision Tree (DT), were also built and compared with SVM to determine which one could make the most accurate predictions. The material factors and environmental factors that influence the results were considered. The materials factors mainly involved the original concrete strength, the amount of cement replaced by fly ash and slag. The environmental factors consisted of the concentration of Mg2+, SO42-, Cl-, temperature and exposing time. It was concluded from the prediction results that the optimized SVM model appeared to perform better than other models in predicting the concrete strength. Based on SVM model, a simulation method of variables limitation was used to determine the sensitivity of various factors and the influence degree of these factors on the degradation of concrete strength.

AbstractIn general, data contain noises which come from faulty instruments, flawed measurements or faulty communication. Learning with data in the context of classification or regression is inevitably affected by noises in the data. In order to remove or greatly reduce the impact of noises, we introduce the ideas of fuzzy membership functions and the Laplacian twin support vector machine (Lap-TSVM). A formulation of the linear intuitionistic fuzzy Laplacian twin support vector machine (IFLap-TSVM) is presented. Moreover, we extend the linear IFLap-TSVM to the nonlinear case by kernel function. The proposed IFLap-TSVM resolves the negative impact of noises and outliers by using fuzzy membership functions and is a more accurate reasonable classifier by using the geometric distribution information of labeled data and unlabeled data based on manifold regularization. Experiments with constructed artificial datasets, several UCI benchmark datasets and MNIST dataset show that the IFLap-TSVM has better classification accuracy than other state-of-the-art twin support vector machine (TSVM), intuitionistic fuzzy twin support vector machine (IFTSVM) and Lap-TSVM.

The main objective of site characterization is the prediction of in situ soil properties at any half-space point at a site based on limited tests. In this study, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) has been used to develop a three dimensional site characterization model for Bangalore, India based on large amount of Standard Penetration Test. SVM is a novel type of learning machine based on statistical learning theory, uses regression technique by introducing ε-insensitive loss function. The database consists of 766 boreholes, with more than 2700 field SPT values () spread over 220 sq km area of Bangalore. The model is applied for corrected () values. The three input variables (, , and , where , , and are the coordinates of the Bangalore) were used for the SVM model. The output of SVM was the data. The results presented in this paper clearly highlight that the SVM is a robust tool for site characterization. In this study, a sensitivity analysis of SVM parameters (σ, , and ε) has been also presented.
