The gel of a diazopyridine–Ni(ii) complex in EtOH–20% CH2Cl2 solution showed the magnetic behavior of a ferromagnetic chain with the correlation length of 5–6 units after irradiation, suggesting the formation of magnetic gel.

Following the demonstration in Part I that the Ising mogel with three-spin interactions on a triangular lattice is equivalent to a colouring problem on a hexagonal lattice, and that a generalized Bethe ansatz can be used to obtain equations for the eigenv

<p>Verdazyl-nitroxide diradicals were synthesized using the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of the corresponding iodoverdazyls with a nitronyl nitroxide-2-ide gold(I) complex with high yields (up to 82%). The synthesized diradicals were found to be highly thermally stable and have a singlet (D<i>E</i>ST » -64 cm–1) or triplet ground state (D<i>E</i>ST ³ 25 and 100 cm–1), depending on which canonical hydrocarbon diradical type they belong to. Upon crystallization, triplet diradicals form unique one-dimensional (1D) spin <i>S</i> = 1 chains of organic diradicals with intrachain ferromagnetic coupling of <i>J</i>′/<i>k</i>B from 3 to 6 K.</p>

Uncharged bottlebrush polymer melts and highly charged polyelectrolytes in solution exhibit correlation peaks in scattering measurements and simulations. Given the striking superficial similarities of these scattering features, there may be a deeper structural interrelationship in these chemically different classes of materials. Correspondingly, we constructed a library of isotopically labeled bottlebrush molecules and measured the bottlebrush correlation peak position q*=2π/ξ by neutron scattering and in simulations. We find that the correlation length scales with the backbone concentration, ξ∼cBB−0.47, in striking accord with the scaling of ξ with polymer concentration cP in semidilute polyelectrolyte solutions (ξ∼cP−1/2). The bottlebrush correlation peak broadens with decreasing grafting density, similar to increasing salt concentration in polyelectrolyte solutions. ξ also scales with sidechain length to a power in the range of 0.35–0.44, suggesting that the sidechains are relatively collapsed in comparison to the bristlelike configurations often imagined for bottlebrush polymers.

Abstract We continue the study of a novel relation between quantum periods and TBA(Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz)-like difference equations, generalize previous works to a large class of Calabi-Yau geometries described by three-term quantum operators. We give two methods to derive the TBA-like equations. One method uses only elementary functions while the other method uses Faddeev’s quantum dilogarithm function. The two approaches provide different realizations of TBA-like equations which are nevertheless related to the same quantum period.
