The micro strategy of school principal leadership within the implementation of character education for elementary school degree is very decisive for the successful development and empowerment of character values in the elementary school degree. With reference to the statement, the objective of the present study is to map the description that has been related to the micro strategy management of the school principal within the implementation of the character education for the elementary school degree. Thus, the design that has been adopted is the case study and the data for the case study are gathered from the primary sources, namely school principal, teachers, and students, through interview, observation, and documentation study in relation to the leadership management within the implementation of the character education for the elementary school degree. During the study, after the data had been gathered the data were analysed by using the Miles & Huberman Inductive Analysis. The results of the study show that the micro strategy of the school principal leadership in the Sekolah Dasar Negeri 07 Sintang have been focused on four aspects namely: (1) the reinforcement of literacy as the efforts of brightening the students’ life; (2) the learning intervention as the effort of improving the students’ discerning quality and characters; (3) the program of Ant Operation as the efforts of habitualizing the healthy, clean, and environmental-friendly life pattern; and (4) the extracurricular programs as the efforts of developing the students’ special capacities, talents, and interests. In order that the four aspects are kept assured and improved, the elementary school should deepen and expand the concept and the coverage of the literacy, improve the capacity of leading practice and teaching practice through the blended learning model, and improve the capacity of the school management system through the integrative manner in the quality system and service.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of teachers and supervisors toward the principal leadership behaviors of female secondary principals in Ohio. Principal self-perceptions were also included to complete the study. The literature shows that women continue to be underrepresented in a field in which the majority of professionals are women; therefore the reasons for underrepresentation warrant investigation. Although women are beginning to move into such ranks more frequently, line administrative positions continue to be dominated by males, and few women hold the positions of high school principal and school district superintendent, positions which continue to be particularly resistant to the advancement of females. Random selected school districts in Ohio were involved in this investigation, the participants of which completed a copy of Philip Hallinger's Principal Instructional Management Rating Scale (PIMRS), a scale which afforded the opportunity to compare the perceptions of superordinates, principals, and subordinates. The results indicated significant differences between principal gender and the responses of others on most of the subscales of the PIMRS. The mean subscale results were much higher for female principals than for male principals as well. The conclusions of this study indicate that there is significant difference in perceptions of principal leadership behavior regarding gender. Principals also judge their own leadership behavior significantly different based on gender.

This research is aimed at acknowledging competitiveness increase model and strategies in the Madura Public Islamic Elementary School. For years, this Islamic school has been in a really degraded condition. However, within the past few decades, it has been drastically reviving and able to prove itself as a superior and competitive Islamic school. This change then becomes attractive to be researched on so that the success achieved by this Islamic school can later be duplicated by other Islamic schools. This research is a qualitative research with case study approach. Data collection was performed through observations, interviews, group discussions and document tracing. This research results in finding that the factors of school principal leadership, learning innovations, teachers and quality school facilities are the main aspects that are able to increase this Islamic school’s quality and competitiveness. These factors have brought this Islamic school able to reach achievements in various fields and thereafter have brought a stream of people registering their children with this Islamic school.

Effective leadership is foundational to the success of all organizations. This qualitative case study aimed to explore exemplary principal leadership in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). The study was based on Kouzes and Posner’s model of exemplary leadership. Interviews were held with school principals, teachers, and nonteaching staff members in three schools in USVI. The principal leaders in the USVI were found to exhibit the five practices of exemplary leadership as postulated by Kouzes and Posner. The study recommends that the Education department in USVI should develop guidelines and professional development opportunities to enhance exemplary leadership practices among principals.

Purpose A 100+ year old organization was facing an enterprise-wide, multi-billion dollar transformation. A new, cross-functional team was brought together to spearhead this change, but faced challenges because of organizational siloes and lack of cross-functional communication. Following an in-depth assessment of the leadership team’s behaviors and their leadership presence, the president realized the team would need to change their communication strategies to drive the transformation. Design/methodology/approach Each leader was assessed using a research-based model of executive presence, the ExPI™, which is designed to measure specific behaviors of executive presence and leadership communication; the qualities of leadership that engage, align, inspire and move people to act. The team developed a “profile of success” highlighting their desired future state as a team, and compared that with the collective data on their strengths and gaps as a team. The comparison and insights from the comparison formed the roadmap for improving their behaviors as a team. Findings The leadership team ultimately became champions for the enterprise-wide change by improving communication streams and winning buy-in from their own teams and other stakeholders critical to the change. They’ve transitioned from seeing their role as protecting their vertical siloes to connecting their functions into a horizontal, integrated pipe that delivers fast, seamless value to the company and the customers. Originality/value This case study highlights the importance of creating culture change through leadership behavior. When an organization is faced with high-stakes transformation, change ultimately starts at the top. Leadership teams who invest in the hard work of changing their siloed actions, and hold themselves accountable for a new way of working, will be able to drive change more effectively and more quickly.

Learning outcomes The present case study would help readers to understand paternalistic leadership behavior with its underlying theory. Readers would be able to appreciate the nature of experiences employees may have while working with a paternalistic leader high on authoritarianism. This case study would motivate readers to work out appropriate strategies for working under paternalistic bosses. The teaching note sensitizes readers about the complicated relationship between paternalistic leadership and culture. Case overview/synopsis Pyramid Globe Management Institute (PGMI) is struggling to generate revenue. PGMI founder, Tugmanshu Lakhani, has to find out new sources of revenue to keep the institute functioning. He constitutes a team of three professors for starting a new academic program with a foreign university. The initial success of the team brings favor from the founder but jealousy from the colleagues reeling under job threat. High authoritarianism and interference of the founder create a problematic situation for the three professors. When the new program starts showing promising results, the founder gets apprehensive about whether the new course may hurt the enrolment in the flagship program of the institute. The authoritarian and erratic behavior of the founder had a demotivating effect on the team working for the new program. Some team members resign under pressure while three professors stay to ensure the launch of the program. The professors have to resolve the conflict between their commitment toward PGMI in a troubled time and a career uncertainty if they continue working for it. Anticipating no change in the behavior of the founder and an uncertain future with PGMI, three professors quit after the start of the new program. The founder may continue losing committed employees if he is unable to balance his authoritarianism with benevolence and moral behavior. It will create more problems for PGMI in the future. Complexity academic level This case can be used in organizational behavior, leadership and team-building courses in the regular Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs. The case can further be used in the executive development program, especially for analyzing the leadership problem in higher education organizations. <strong>Abstract<em>.</em> </strong>The management weakness of facilities and infrastructure in implementing the application of the State Property Management Information System (SIMAK BMN) is the cause of lack of optimal management of facilities or infrastructure or the application of SIMAK BMN by the school principal in empowering education staff and stakeholders within the madrasa. The purpose of this study was to describe the management of application-based infrastructure and State-Owned Management Information System (SIMAK BMN). The approach used in this study was qualitative research with a type of case study research. The stages in this study consisted of field, field and data processing. Data analysis takes place together with the process of collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results obtained in this study were (1) Planning of facilities and infrastructure made by madrasas provides an overview of the planning of needs achieved in the purpose of education; (2) Organizing application-based facilities and infrastructure SIMAK BMN in  MTsN 1 Singkawang shoed a positive tendency to implement mechanisms, tasks and organizing functions that are conveyed to all teachers; (3) The implementation of SIMAK BMN application-based facilities and infrastructure at MTsN 1 Singkawang showed a tendency to be less than optimal; (4) Monitoring of application-based facilities and infrastructure SIMAK BMN at MTsN 1 Singkawang showed the tendency to carry out internal reconciliation, external reconciliation and pertangungjawban through semester reports. Therefore, it can be concluded, the management of facilities and infrastructure based on the application of the State Owned Management Information System (SIMAK BMN) at MTsN 1 Singkawang was an attempt to curb the recording of application-based infrastructure through the management of Property Management Information System functions.
