Abstract As in the original description of Naricolax sphyraenae Izawa, 2020, copepodid IV female of the species was described based on a wrong judgement of the sex, the species is redescribed and both sexes of copepodid IV of the species are correctively described, while additionally copepodid V male of the species is described for the first time, based on specimens newly collected from the original host, Sphyraena pinguis Günther, 1874 (Pisces, Sphyraenidae) from Japan.

Abstract Triceracolax pagri Izawa, 2021 is redescribed on the basis of specimens of both sexes recovered from the bucco-branchial cavity of the original host, Pagrus major (Temminck & Schlegel, 1843). Both sexes of copepodid IV and the male copepodid III, collected together with the adults, are described for the first time, and sexually dimorphic features in late copepodid stages are discussed.

Abstract Megacolax gen. nov. (Copepoda, Cyclopoida, Bomolochidae) is established to accommodate Naricolax insolitus Ho & Lin, 2003, and next Megacolax insolitus (Ho & Lin, 2003) emended is redescribed based on specimens of both sexes recovered from the nasal cavity of the original host, Pampus argenteus (Euphrasen, 1788) (Pisces, Stromateidae) in Japan. The male is described for the first time for the species.

Abstract Nothobomolochus triceros (Bassett-Smith, 1898), based on specimens recovered from the original host Pampus argenteus (Euphrasen, 1788) in Japan, are redescribed, and the male, both sexes of copepodids V and IV, and sex undetermined copepodids III and II of the species are described for the first time. The maxilliped is sexually dimorphic only in the adult in Bomolochidae, on the other hand, the rostral plate, antennule, and legs 1, 4, and 5 are sexually dimorphic in Nothobomolochus throughout the adult and copepodids V-IV. Sex is as yet undetermined in copepodids III and II in the genus.

Ramalina sekika Asahina is reported for the first time from Russia from Sakhalin. It refers to the number of rare and poorly investigated species of the genus. Until now it was considered to be endemic to northeastern China. The original description and the location in the Far East are given, as well as the data on anatomical and morphological study of the Russian specimen. The differences in the anatomical structure of its thallus are discussed. A comparison of anatomical and morphological characters of R. sekika, R. pollinaria (Westr.) Ach. (European material), R. yasudae Räsänen has been made; the author considers them as independent species.

AbstractNotes are given on the identity and synonymy of five species of Lepidoptera described by Linnaeus, twenty-eight by Fabricius and two by Ström. Each species dealt with is treated under the apparent valid combination; for each species reference is given to the original description. Twenty-four new species-group name synonyms are introduced and nine new combinations are established: Nemaxera betulinella (Fabr.), Argyresthia arcella (Fabr.), Depressaria depressana (Fabr.), Chrysoesthia drurella (Fabr.), Brachmia blandella (Fabr.), Acleris laterana (Fabr.), Pseudohermenias abietana (Fabr.), Epinotia abbreviana (Fab.) and Acrobasis repandana (Fabr.). During the work two neotypes, twenty-seven lectotypes and two paralectotypes have been designated and are here cited for the first time.

Abstract Orbitacolax bispinus sp. nov., Orbitacolax leptoscari (Yamaguti, 1953), Paraorbitacolax sphyraenae Izawa, 2021, and one male specimen of a Bomolochidae sp. are (re)described. The male and copepodid V female of O. leptoscari, and the male and copepodid V male of P. sphyraenae are described for the first time for the respective species. A description performed in Izawa (2020, 2021) that the maxilliped of the female bears a dorsal process in Orbitacolax and Paraorbitacolax spp., was wrong and is herein corrected.

Steccherinum aurantilaetum is a predominantly East Asian polyporoid fungus from the Steccherinaceae. It was first discovered in the Krasnoarmeisky District of the Primorye and in the Khabarovsk Territory. Previously, it was known only in the «Kedrovaya Pad» Nature Reserve in the Primorye and in the «Bastak» Nature Reserve in the Jewish Autonomous Region (for the territory of Russia). An original description of the species based on Far Eastern material is given, and a map of the general distribution of S. aurantilaetum is presented for the first time.

The present study focuses on shrimps belonging to the genus Lysmata Risso, 1816, collected from Madagascar during the Atimo Vatae expedition carried out in 2010. Lysmata malagasy sp. nov. is a new species belonging to the clade named “long accessory ramous” or “cosmopolitan” in previous phylogenetic studies. The new species can be distinguished from the only two other representatives of this group in the Indo-west Pacific, L. ternatensis De Man, 1902, and L. trisetacea (Heller, 1861), by the accessory ramus of the lateral antennular flagellum consisting of four elongated articles. Lysmata lipkei Okuno & Fiedler, 2010 is reported here from Madagascar with a remarkable extension of its known range after its original description from Japan. This species has also been reported from Singapore and, as alien species, from Brazil. Lastly, L. kuekenthali De Man, 1902 known from numerous localities in the Indo-West Pacific biogeographic area, is reported for the first time from Madagascar. Results of the present morphological and molecular analyses suggest that L. hochi Baeza & Anker, 2008 from the Caribbean Sea is a synonym of the Indo-West Pacific L. kuekenthali, and thus the latter species is alien in the western Atlantic.

Neogene Argentinean echinoids are important biostratigraphic tools. New specimens of Schizaster iheringi (de Loriol, 1902) from Early Miocene sedimentites (Chenque Formation, Patagonia, Argentina) allowed us to improve its original description, providing for the first time details of the apical disc and the oral side of  test. The species is included into the genus Brisaster: the first unquestionable documented reference to the taxon from the Neogene of Argentina. All previously reported specimens of this species are evaluated, concluding that the stratigraphic range of the genus Brisaster in Patagonia must be restricted to the Early Miocene. Rev. Biol. Background The megalichthyids are one of several clades of extinct tetrapodomorph fish that lived throughout the Devonian–Permian periods. They are advanced “osteolepidid-grade” fishes that lived in freshwater swamp and lake environments, with some taxa growing to very large sizes. They bear cosmine-covered bones and a large premaxillary tusk that lies lingually to a row of small teeth. Diagnosis of the family remains controversial with various authors revising it several times in recent works. There are fewer than 10 genera known globally, and only one member definitively identified from Gondwana. Cladarosymblema narrienense Fox et al. 1995 was described from the Lower Carboniferous Raymond Formation in Queensland, Australia, on the basis of several well-preserved specimens. Despite this detailed work, several aspects of its anatomy remain undescribed. Methods Two especially well-preserved 3D fossils of Cladarosymblema narrienense, including the holotype specimen, are scanned using synchrotron or micro-computed tomography (µCT), and 3D modelled using specialist segmentation and visualisation software. New anatomical detail, in particular internal anatomy, is revealed for the first time in this taxon. A novel phylogenetic matrix, adapted from other recent work on tetrapodomorphs, is used to clarify the interrelationships of the megalichthyids and confirm the phylogenetic position of C. narrienense. Results Never before seen morphological details of the palate, hyoid arch, basibranchial skeleton, pectoral girdle and axial skeleton are revealed and described. Several additional features are confirmed or updated from the original description. Moreover, the first full, virtual cranial endocast of any tetrapodomorph fish is presented and described, giving insight into the early neural adaptations in this group. Phylogenetic analysis confirms the monophyly of the Megalichthyidae with seven genera included (Askerichthys, Cladarosymblema, Ectosteorhachis, Mahalalepis, Megalichthys, Palatinichthys, and Sengoerichthys). The position of the megalichthyids as sister group to canowindrids, crownward of “osteolepidids” (e.g.,Osteolepis and Gogonasus), but below “tristichopterids” such as Eusthenopteron is confirmed, but our findings suggest further work is required to resolve megalichthyid interrelationships.
