Steccherinum aurantilaetum is a predominantly East Asian polyporoid fungus from the Steccherinaceae. It was first discovered in the Krasnoarmeisky District of the Primorye and in the Khabarovsk Territory. Previously, it was known only in the «Kedrovaya Pad» Nature Reserve in the Primorye and in the «Bastak» Nature Reserve in the Jewish Autonomous Region (for the territory of Russia). An original description of the species based on Far Eastern material is given, and a map of the general distribution of S. aurantilaetum is presented for the first time.

The structure of herbaceous layer in the conditionally-indigenous mixed broad-leaved type of forest with lianas and its change for 1998-2018 are analyzed. Research was carried out at the ecological profile "Gornotayozhniy" (Ussuriysky district, Primorye Territory). A general description of phytocoenoesis is given. Complexes of microgroups of the herbaceous layer, united by the similarity of species composition, life forms and seasonal development, have been identified and characterized. Cartographic schemes of the herbaceous layer with the placement of microgroups at the beginning of research and after 20 years were compiled. It has been established that in the structure of herbaceous layer of forest ecosystems the directions of regular changes caused by the course of the forest-forming process are clearly traced.

Two new species of the genus Verbascum, V. densiflorum Bertol. and V. phlomoides L., are reported for the adventive flora of the Russian Far East. The differences of these species from V. thapsus L. are discussed. Information of the locations of the species Verbascum L. known in the Russian Far East is presented.

After a long break, research on entomophylic fungi has been restarted in the Prymorye. Earlier surveys showed an exceptional species diversity of the territory - about 70 species. This is 20-25% of the total species number known in the world. This group of fungi is given unjustifiably little attention in our region. They significantly affect the dynamics of insect populations in the ecosystem. In addition, the use of compounds produced by entomophylic fungi in medicine is gaining increasing popularity. We studied 31 samples from the collection of entomophilic fungi of the Far Eastern Regional Herbarium (VLA). The analysis of the obtained data allowed us to clarify the distribution and diversity of entomophilic species in the Region. Data on the distribution of Cordyceps deflectens, C. militaris, C. takaomontana, Ophiocordyceps crinalis, O. nutans, O. sphecocephala, O. tricentri and O. variabilis have been clarified and supplemented. For O. tricentri data on the spectrum of host insects are expanded.

On the example of an interview with V.V. Bogatov and I.A. Urmina – by the authors of the book "Academician Komarov and His Time", prepared by the famous Moscow journalist Sergei Sharkshane, it is shown that the figure of Academician Vladimir Leontyevich Komarov, as the head of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1931–1945, was not only underestimated in the public consciousness of his contemporaries, but also unjustifiably defamed, while archival documents suggest otherwise. In his article, Sergei Sharkshane suggested concentrating on the main thing - overcoming injustices.

Ecological study of coenopopulations of Potentilla fragarioides L. in the south of the Russian Far East resulted in conclusion, that forming of its ecological niche takes place under influence of combination of continental and monsoon climatic factors. Ecological conditions on the Pacific coast of the Russian Far East are more favorable for Potentilla fragarioides than on inland areas, where the main part of the species’ range of geographical distribution is located. Results of the study can be used for phytoindication of biogeographical lines in East Asia as well as for solving of problems of evolution and taxonomy in the Rosaceae Family.

New finds in the Russian Far East species of Carex L. (C. atrofusca Schkuhr, C. enanderi Hultén, C. enervis C.A. Mey., C. heleonastes Ehrh., C. hepburnii Boott, C. krausei Boeckeler, C. leporina L.) are reported and taxonomic comments are given for some of them. Carex enanderi is first indicated for the flora of Russia, the rest of the species – as floristic novelties for a particular territory in the Russian Far East.

The article presents the study of the stimulating effect of aqueous solutions of growth stimulants Crezacin and Zircon, and the identification of doses that activate the germinative energy, laboratory germination of seeds and the growth of biometric parameters of sprouts along the length and weight of Khingam fir (Abies nephrolepis). The greatest stimulating effect on the sowing qualities of Khingam fir seeds by the Crezacin and Zircon shown in the concentrations of solutions of 1∙3∙10-3–1∙6∙10-3 ml/l. Germinative energy and laboratory germination of seeds exceeded the control group by 84.8-293.9, 106.4-273.4% and 112.1-203, 59.6-187.2%, respectively. The seed quality class increased from the third to the second and first ones. The growth stimulator Crezacin had a more positive effect on the growth of sprouts along the length and weight at solution concentrations of 1∙2∙10-3–1∙6∙10-3 and 1∙2∙10-3–1∙7∙10-3 ml/l (excess to control group – 7,7–41,7 and 6,1-61,4%). Zircon is less effective. Its positive effect on the growth of the length and mass of sprouts was noted at concentrations of 1∙4∙10-3–1∙5∙10-3 and 1∙2∙10-3–1∙7∙10-3 ml/l (excess to control group – 8,3–25 and 6,1-46,5%).

Preliminary data on Bacillariophyta in some soils of the Smirnykhovsky district of Sakhalin Island are analyzed. Twenty species of diatoms, belonging to 12 genera, 10 families, and 5 orders have been identified. Nine species of them are new to the flora of Sakhalin: Caloneis branderi (Hustedt) Krammer, Diploneis krammeri Lange-Bertalot et E. Reichardt, Luticola cohnii (Hilse) D.G. Mann, L. dismutica (Hustedt) D.G. Mann, L. plausibilis (Hustedt) D.G. Mann, L. acidoclinata Lange-Bertalot, Mayamaea fossalis (Krasske) Lange-Bertalot, Diadesmis brekkaensis (J.B. Petersen) D.G. Mann, Sellaphora nigri (De Notaris) Wetzel et Ector. Five species: Luticola dismutica (Hustedt) D.G.Mann, L. plausibilis (Hustedt) D.G. Mann, L. acidoclinata Lange-Bertalot, Mayamaea fossalis (Krasske) Lange-Bertalot, Sellaphora nigri (De Notaris) Wetzel et Ector revealed at the first time in the Russian Far East. In addition, some species of the genera Luticola, Sellaphora, and Nitzschia with teratological structures of valves were found.

The paper summarizes information on chromosome numbers (CNs) of the Grass species (Poaceae) in the flora of Russian Federation, obtained on the original material, most part - from the Russian Far East (RFE). In some species the CNs are known in Russia or in the world only from RFE, in some – from one locality or few, or from one subregion of RFE. The grass species in RFE often occur in mountain regions and near seacoasts; some species are endemics, some were studied near the limits of their geographical distribution areas. The diversity of CNs, the special features of the CNs distribution in some grass groups are discussed. The alien species are abundant in RFE, and their CNs are also involved in the study. For karyologically polymorphous species further studies are needed.
