Rhodocollybia utrorensis sp. nov. is described from the Utror valley, Pakistan. It is characterized by a dull brown pileus with a low umbo and inrolled margin, adnate lamellae with wavy margin, presence of pleurocystidia and inamyloid basidiospores. Both morpho-anatomical features and phylogenetic analysis based on ITS nrDNA sequence indicate Rhodocollybia utrorensis is a new species. This is the first report of the genus Rhodocollybia from Pakistan.

A new species of the family Agnaridae, Lucasioides altaicus sp. nov., is described from the Altai Mountains, southwestern Siberia, based both on morphological characters and molecular data. This species is the first record of Lucasioides from Russia, whose location is the northernmost habitat of terrestrial isopods in indigenous habitats presently known to Eurasia. The diagnostic characters of the new species and a preliminary phylogenetic analysis within Agnaridae are provided.

A new species of the marine gastrotrich taxonThaumastodermais described. A single specimen of this species,Thaumastoderma antarcticasp. nov., was extracted from silty sediment sampled at one station of the Andeep-1 cruise, about 150 km to the north of the South Shetland Islands (Drake Passage, South Atlantic Ocean). This paper provides the first record of this genus from the deep sea and the second description of a macrodasyid gastrotrich living in an abyssal habitat. The new species is characterized by several apomorphic features, among them a caudal pair of strongly elongated dorsal cirrata tubes. A phylogenetic analysis of the genusThaumastodermareveals thatTh. antarcticais closely related toTh. coronariumandTh. appendiculatum. Furthermore, the analysis offers an evolutionary scenario and a hypothesis for the internal phylogeny of this taxon while supporting its monophyly. It is the first time a cladistic analysis has been conducted for a delimited group of gastrotrichs, i.e. for all known members of a genus.

A new species of the genus Mixonychus Ryke & Meyer, 1960 (Acari: Trombidiformes: Tetranychidae), namely Mixonychus (Tylonychus) religiosae sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on females, deutonymphs, protonymphs and male collected from Ficus religiosa L. (Moraceae) in Southern of Iran (Kerman Province). This is the first report of Mixonychus (Tylonychus) from Palearctic area.

Within recent years a considerable amount of work has been done on the Myxosporidia, especially, as pointed out by Kudo (1919), in North America, Asia, and to a lesser degree in Japan (Fugita, 1912, 1913, 1925). Few investigations, however, have been carried out in Australia, and consequently very little is known concerning the distribution of the group in this country. There appear to be as yet only two contributions to the subject, papers by T. Harvey Johnston and M. J. Bancroft (1918, 1919). As far as can be ascertained, my paper is the first report concerning Myxosporidia from fishes of Southern Australian waters, and contains the first record of a species of Chloromyxum from Australia.

Leptoxyphium is a relatively poorly known genus of sooty moulds in Capnodiaceae (Dothideomycetes). This paper introduces one new species of Leptoxyphium, L. glochidion and the first record of L. kurandae for China. L. glochidion is introduced as a new species based on morphology and molecular data and is compared with related taxa. Descriptions, illustrations and notes are provided for the two species, which are analyzed by ITS, LSU and SSU sequence data. The phylogenetic analysis shows that the two species cluster in Leptoxyphium (Capnodiaceae). L. glochidion separates from other species of the genus, while L. kurandae clustered with the type strain

Colletotrichum sonchicola, sp. nov. from Sonchus sp. (dandelion tribe) in Forlì-Cesena Province, Italy, is introduced using morphological and molecular data. Combined phylogenetic analysis of ITS, GAPDH, CHS, ACT and TUB2 sequence data demonstrate that C. sonchicola is a distinct species within the dematium species complex. The new species is illustrated and compared with related taxa. This provides the first record of a Colletotrichum species from the genus Sonchus.

This is the first report of the genus Rutylapa Edwards, 1929, from China. Rutylapa longa Cao & Xu sp. n. is described and figured, and it is compared to the other Palaearctic species of the genus, R. ruficornis Zetterstedt.

A new species of Polycoelia, P. kurariirapa, is described from the Three Kings Islands/Manawatāwhi, representing the first record of the genus in New Zealand. Polycoelia includes two species from Australia, P. laciniata (generitype) and P. fastigiata, and one from South Africa, P. harveyana. Polycoelia kurariirapa shares with the two Australian species the characteristic vegetative anatomy of the genus consisting of a single layer of medullary cells surrounded by a cortex of small-celled, anticlinal filaments, and branched thalli. The rbcL phylogenetic analysis confirmed the close, and sister, relationship of P. kurariirapa with the Australian taxa, while they were only weakly grouped with P. harveyana. This new genus adds to the unique seaweed flora of these islands in northern New Zealand and indicates that this area may harbour even more hidden diversity.

AbstractHepatozoon species are the most common hemoparasites of snakes. In this study, Hepatozoon parasites were examined for the first time in king rat snakes (Elaphe carinata) from Shanghai, China. All 10 snakes were found to be infected with Hepatozoon gamonts. The gamonts were folded back in a hook-wise fashion for about 3 μm at one end. Parasitemia levels ranged from 4-43 infected erythrocytes per 1,000 examined. The gamonts changed the morphology of the parasitized erythrocytes. Although the gamonts showed some distinct variations in both the parasite and its nucleus, phylogenetic analysis indicated that all the E. carinata in this study formed a monophyletic group, and were distinct from all other published Hepatozoon species. A new species, Hepatozoon chinensis, was proposed based on the molecular and morphologic evidence.

Miobdelus humilis sp. nov. is described as new. A lectotype is designated for Staphylinus (Xanthocypus) miwai Bernhauer, 1943 and Thoracostrongylus miyakei Bernhauer, 1943. Ocypus (Ocypus) miwai (Bernhauer, 1943) is transferred from Ocypus Leach, 1819 to Sphaerobulbus Smetana, 2003 and the species is re-described based on types and modern specimens. A female description of Apecholinus imitator Smetana & Hu, 2019 is provided. Creophilus flavipennis Hope, 1831, Nelmanwaslus ornatus Smetana, 2006, Ontholestes oculatus (Sharp, 1874) and Platydracus juang Smetana, 2005 are reported for the first time from Taiwan. Ontholestes oculatus is re-described based on Taiwanese material, representing the first record of the genus Ontholestes Ganglbauer, 1895 in Taiwan. Platydracus juang is considered to be a termitophilous species, associated with Reticulitermes leptomandibularis (Hsia & Fan, 1965), which would represent the first report of termitophily in the subtribe Staphylinina. Additional records of C. maxillosus maxillosus (Linnaeus, 1758), Agelosus auricomus Smetana & Hu, 2019, Apecholinus fraternus Fairmaire, 1891, Miobdelus taiwanensis taiwanensis Smetana, 2001, Naddia taiwanensis Shibata, 1979 and Thoracostrongylus formosanus Shibata, 1982 are provided. Habitus photos of the above species and Dinothenarus choui Smetana, 1992 are also provided. A preliminary checklist of Staphylinina in Taiwan is proposed.
