The moth-fly genus Eurygarka Quate (Diptera: Psychodidae) is revised to include three species. Two new species: E. cyphostylus, n. sp. and E. nelderi, n. sp. from the southeastern United States are described. The adult male and female of E. helicis (Dyar) are redescribed. A key to adult males of the three known species of Eurygarka is provided. The generic placement of Eurygarka is discussed.

AbstractDetailed generic descriptions are given for the adult male and female, larva, and pupa of Xylotopus Oliver and for the adult male of Irisobrillia n. gen. Two new species, Xylotopus burmanensis and Irisobrillia longicosta, are described. A key is presented to separate adult males of Xylotopus and Irisobrillia from allied genera, Brillia Kieffer, Eurycnemus Wulp, and Euryhapsis Oliver.

Two new species, Prolixus nicholasi sp. nov. and Prolixus setifolius sp. nov., are described and illustrated from leaves of Gahnia setifolia (Cyperaceae) in Auckland, New Zealand. In this paper, we present the ontogenetic additions in idiosomal and the leg chaetotaxy from larva to adult. The adult male and female of P. setifolius have different leg setae, allowing all active life stages to be sexed. A key to world species of Prolixus is also proposed.

In the present paper, two new species, Barsine persephone Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (N Thailand and N Vietnam), and Barsine asotoida Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (SW China and N Myanmar) are described. A new combination is established: Barsine specialis (Fang, 1991), comb. nov. Both new species belong to the Barsine prominens (Moore, 1878) species-group, and, as well as B. specialis have unusual for the genus dark brown forewing coloration. Adult, male and female genitalia are illustrated.

The Neotropical genus Epigomphus Hagen in Selys, 1854 groups 31 species distributed from Mexico to northern Argentina. Only two species have been recorded so far from Colombia. Here we present two new species found in the north of the Andean Colombian Cordillera Central, Epigomphus rufus sp. nov. and Epigomphus brillantina sp. nov. Full descriptions of adult male and female and adult male respectively, plus diagnoses, pictures of the diagnostic characteristics, natural history notes, and a distribution map are provided.

Abstract. Mennerotodus Zhelezko, 1994, is an extinct lamniform shark known to occur in Paleogene strata of the Tethyan region of Asia and Europe. Although only a single species has been named, multiple subspecies have been erected and used as biostratigraphic tools in Asia. The genus has not been reported with confidence outside of the Tethyan region, but we have identified two new species of Mennerotodus from Paleogene deposits of the southeastern United States. Mennerotodus mackayi sp. nov. is described by teeth occurring in the lower Paleocene (Danian Stage) Pine Barren Member of the Clayton Formation of southern Alabama. A middle Eocene (Bartonian) species, Mennerotodus parmleyi sp. nov., is based on material occurring in the Clinchfield Formation in central Georgia. The early Paleocene record could indicate a North American origin for Mennerotodus relatively soon after the K–Pg event, with subsequent radiation to other parts of the world. The genus is likely more widely distributed than is currently known, but teeth can easily be overlooked due to their similarity to other taxa.

Kribiodorum Kieffer, an otherwise North American and African genus of Chironomini (Diptera: Chironomidae), extends to the Oriental region through two new species. An adult male and female of Kribiodorum malicky sp. n. is newly described from Thailand, and from Brunei (Borneo) a pharate male and the pupa of Kribiodorum belalong sp. n. is described. Additionally, from Namibia (s.w. Africa) a 'manuscript' taxon is described formally with co-authorship of the late Arthur Harrison as Kribiodorum kunene sp. n. Males of the new species and the sole new pupa conform substantially to generic diagnoses based on the North American Kribiodorum perpulchrum (Mitchell). Examination of specimens of African Kribiodorum pulchrum Kieffer and N. American K. perpulchrum confirms their morphological similarity and reaffirms the junior synonymy of Stelechomyia Reiss designated for the North American species. Kribiodorum expands the number of genera of Chironomidae with African and Asian representatives, although unusual in its absence from Australia yet presence in the Nearctic.
