Monitoriella Hedqvist is a phytophagous, gall-inducer Braconidae genus, known only from the New World. Its placement in a higher taxonomic level has been uncertain until recent phylogenetic investigations on cyclostome braconids, which reinforce its position in Doryctinae. Three new species of Monitoriella are described: M. costalimai sp. nov., M. spinata sp. nov., and M. ubatuba sp. nov., all from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Monitoriella anthurii is redescribed and illustrated. A key to all known species is provided.

Three new species of Otostigmus Porat, 1876 from Brazilian Atlantic Forest are described. Otostigmus beckeri sp. n. andO. lanceolatus sp. n. are described from the state of Bahia and O. giupponii sp. n. from the state of Espírito Santo. InBrazil, the otostigmine scolopendrid genus Otostigmus comprises 22 species. A summary of Brazilian Otostigmus speciesis presented with new distribution records, taxonomic remarks when appropriate and an identification key. Otostigmus sul-catus Meinert, 1886 is recorded for the first time from Brazil; the Andean Otostigmus silvestrii Kraepelin 1903, previouslyrecorded from Brazil, is here considered not to be present in this country. Eight nominal species are regarded here as newsynonyms. Five of them—Otostigmus pradoi Bücherl, 1939, O. longistigma Bücherl, 1939, O. longipes Bücherl, 1939,O. langei Bücherl, 1946 and O. dentifusus Bücherl, 1946—are based on females of O. tibialis Brölemann, 1902. O. latipesBücherl, 1954 is conspecific with and is considered a junior synonym of O. sulcatus Meinert, 1886; O. limbatus diminutusBücherl, 1946 is a junior synonym of O. limbatus Meinert, 1886 and O. fossulatus Attems, 1928 is a junior synonym of O. goeldii Brölemann, 1898. A lectotype is designated for O. goeldii.

Dipsadine snakes of the genus Atractus are endemic to the Neotropical region, occurring from Panama to Argentina. Currently, the taxonomic status of most species of the genus is unclear and previous attempts of taxonomic revisions have been local in scale. In this paper we evaluate the taxonomic status of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest species of Atractus based on meristic, morphometric, maxillary dentition, and hemipenis characters. Quantitative and qualitative analyses suggest the recognition of one new species (A. caete sp. nov.) from the state of Alagoas, another (A. francoi sp. nov.) from the mountainous regions of the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and the synonymy of A. kangueryensis with A. thalesdelemai. Specimens previously assigned to A. taeniatus in Argentina and Brazil are here considered A. paraguayensis. A key to the Atlantic Forest Atractus is provided and three new species groups are proposed for some cisAndean Atractus, mainly on the basis of hemipenial morphology: the A. emmeli, A. maculatus, and A. pantostictus species groups.

Mecistogaster Rambur, 1842 is a genus of Pseudostigmatidae with five species distributed from Mexico to Argentina. Four of these occur in Brazil, two of which were recorded on the Atlantic Forest, M. amalia (Burmeister, 1839) and M. linearis (Fabricius, 1776). After examining 140 specimens of Mecistogaster amalia it was possible to conclude that it is a complex of species and three new species are described, M. kesselringi sp. nov., M. mielkei sp. nov. and M. nordestina sp. nov. The males differ from each other mainly by the presence or absence of alula, the area occupied by the reddish-brown color of the mesepimeron and penis structure. The females differ mainly by the region occupied for the pale apical area of wing and epiproct shape. The problem of Burmeister’s type of M. amalia is discussed and a neotype is erected for it. Distribution and phenology data are provided. A key for males recorded from Brazilian Atlantic Forest is presented.

The gigas species group of the subgenus Canthidium (Neocanthidium) is defined and described. This species group is composed of three described species [C. gigas Balthasar, 1939, Brazilian Atlantic Forest, including intrusions into Cerrado, C. bokermanni (Martínez et al., 1964), Chaco and western Cerrado in Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina, and C. kelleri (Martínez et al., 1964), Brazilian Cerrado and neighbouring open areas] and three new species: Canthidium stofeli sp. nov. from the western and southern regions of the Brazilian Amazon, Canthidium feeri sp. nov. from French Guiana, and Canthidium ayri sp. nov. from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. We present descriptions and redescriptions, illustrations, an identification key and comments on the distributions of the species of the gigas group.

The species are illustrated, and comments on their relationships to other species of Ocotea, distribution, habitat, and phenology are provided.

Ochrotrichia, with about 160 extant species in the New World, is the most diverse genus assigned to the Ochrotrichiinae. Despite its diversity, only eight species were previously recorded from Brazil, only one from Rio de Janeiro state. In this paper, we describe three new species from Parque Nacional da Tijuca, an Atlantic Forest area at Rio de Janeiro. Ochrotrichia nematomorpha sp. nov. is placed within the O. xena Group, having a plate-like tergum X, with an unusual phallus which is slender and pointed apically. Ochrotrichia sagitta sp. nov. and O. taunay sp. nov. belong to the O. aldama Group, each having a divided tergum X, but being distinguished from the others in this group by the arrowhead-like apex of left lateral process of tergum X (O. sagitta) and the presence of two dorsal spine-like projections on tergum X (O. taunay). Furthermore, O. caatinga Souza, Santos & Takiya, 2014 is reported for the first time from Rio de Janeiro state.

Titanogryllus, a new genus and three new species T. salgado n. gen. n. sp., T. oxossi n. gen. n. sp., and T. oxente n. gen. n. sp. from subfamily Gryllinae (Grylloidea, Gryllidae) are described from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. This genus is characterized by its very large size, and establishes a new record for the largest known cricket from Neotropical Region. The new taxa are characterized by their external morphology and male and female genitalia.

A new species of the cosmopolitan genus Discothyrea Roger, a member of the Proceratiinae subfamily, is described for the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. The species, Discothyrea bobi sp. nov., is compared to the other New World species described for the genus so far. Two putatively important morphological features of the genus, the palpal formula and the antennal pits, are discussed.
