The Charipinae (Cynipoidea: Figitidae) are a small group of Hymenoptera biologically characterized as being secondary parasitoids of aphids and psyllids (Hemiptera) (Menke & Evenhuis, 1991).  A total of 281 species of Charipinae have been described since the first species was described by Westwood (1833) (including two fossils, one of them recently transferred in a new family, Protimaspidae). An updated world catalogue of the Charipinae is presented here, with 168 valid species: 111 included in Alloxysta Förster, 31 in Phaenoglyphis Förster, 13 in Dilyta Förster, 5 in Apocharips Fergusson, 4 in Thoreauana Girault, and 1 in Dilapothor Paretas-Martínez & Pujade-Villar, Lobopterocharips Paretas-Martínez & Pujade-Villar, Lytoxysta Kieffer and †Protocharips Kovalev. Eight species are considered as nomen nudum: Allotria fusca Dahlbom, 1842; Allotria thoreyi Dahlbom, 1842; Xystus xanthocephala Dahlbom, 1842; Allotria pusillina Giraud, 1877; Charips aphidiinaecida de Santis, 1937; Alloxysta keudelli Hedicke, 1927; Allotria amygdali Buckton, 1879 and  Allotria polita Provancher, 1881. Six as nomen dubium: Allotria (Allotria) recticornis atra Kieffer, 1902; Allotria (Allotria) brevicornis Kieffer, 1902;  Allotria (Allotria) orthocera Kieffer, 1902; Xystus femoralis Hartig, 1841; Charipsella laevigata Brèthes, 1913; Dilyta (Alloxysta) ignorata Kieffer, 1900. Three species are incertae sedis: Charips silvicola Belizin, 1928, Cynips atriceps Buckton, 1879 and Allotria (Allotria) testaceipes Kieffer, 1902. Two species are here synonymized: Alloxysta discreta (Förster, 1869) with A. ramulifera (Thomson, 1862) and A. megaptera (Cameron, 1889) with A. ruficollis (Cameron, 1883). Two species are raised from synonymy and considered here as valid species: Alloxysta cameroni (Cameron, 1883) and A. marshalliana (Kieffer, 1900). New names for species of Alloxysta are presented for homonimies with other Alloxysta species derived from the new combinations: Alloxysta ionescui Pujade-Villar & Ferrer-Suay new name for Alloxysta luteipes (Ionescu, 1969) n. comb., Alloxysta forshagei Pujade-Villar & Ferrer-Suay new name for Alloxysta bicolor (Ionescu, 1959) n. comb., and Alloxysta mattiasi Pujade-Villar & Ferrer-Suay new name for Alloxysta luteipes (Ionescu, 1959) n. comb. Also a new name to Phaenoglyphis is presented for the same reason before mentioned but without new combination: Phaenoglyphis hedickei Pujade-Villar & Ferrer-Suay new name for Phaenoglyphis longicornis Hedicke, 1928 and two new combinations are presented: Alloxysta rufa (Ionescu, 1959) n. comb and Alloxysta consobrina (Zetterstedt, 1838) Forshage n. comb. This catalogue includes: (i) a diagnosis of the subfamily with the most important taxonomic characters for species recognition, and illustrations of these characters; (ii) a key to genera; (iii) a list of all authors describing species of Charipinae; and (iv) a host table. The distribution of the Charipinae includes 106 Palaearctic species, 37 Nearctic, 11 Neotropical, 10 Afrotropical, 7 Oriental and 11 Australian. The species Alloxysta victrix (Westwood, 1833), A. fuscicornis (Hartig, 1841) and Phaenoglyphis villosa (Hartig, 1841) are cosmopolitan.

The genus Limonius Eschscholtz, 1829 was last treated as a whole by Candèze (1860). Since then, members have been placed in eight other genera: Cidnopus Thomson, 1859; Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Elathous Reitter, 1890; Kibunea Kishii, 1966; Limoniscus Reitter, 1905; Nothodes LeConte, 1861; Pheletes Kiesenwetter, 1858; and Solskyana Dolin, 1978. Based on the examination of adult and larval characters, five genera are recognized: Elathous Reitter, 1890; Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Limonius Eschscholtz, 1829; Pheletes Kiesenwetter, 1858; and Tetralimonius new genus. Limoniscus Reitter, 1905 and Sichuanelater Platia and Gudenzi, 2006 are new synonymies of Gambrinus LeConte, 1853; Micrathous Lane, 1971, Neoathousius Schimmel and Platia, 1991 and Solskyana Dolin, 1978 are all new synonymies of Limonius. New replacement names are proposed for three homynyms: Limonius schimmeli Etzler new name for Neoathousius ferrugineus Schimmel and Platia, 1991; Elathous malatyanus Etzler new name for Elathous bicolor Platia, 2010, not Elathous bicolor (LeConte, 1853); and Microdesmes carteri Etzler new name for Limonius angulatus Carter, 1939 (= Microdesmes angulatus). Limonius kondratieffi Al Dhafer, 2009 is a new synonymy of Elathous bicolor (LeConte, 1853). A key to genera, generic descriptions, notes on species, and definitions of important characters are provided.

With the purpose of promoting nomenclatural stability, this paper addresses a number of errors, omissions, and controversial conclusions in a recent revision of the green lacewing genus Ceraeochrysa by Freitas et al. (2009). 1. Valid species, new combinations and synonymies: (a) We identified Ceraeochrysa chiricahuae Freitas and Penny (in Freitas et al. 2009), Chrysopa forreri Navás, and Chrysopa intacta Navás as subjective synonyms. Thus, Ceraeochrysa intacta, a species that was previously synonymized under Ceraeochrysa placita (Banks), becomes the valid name of the species [New status, new combination]. Chrysopa forreri is now synonymized under Cer. intacta, not Cer. placita [New synonymy]. And, Cer. chiricahuae becomes a junior synonym of Cer. intacta, not a valid species of Ceraeochrysa [New synonymy]. (b) We enumerate specific internal and external features of the Chrysopa cornuta Navás type that identify it as conspecific with Ceraeochrysa caligata (Banks), not Ceraeochrysa cincta (Schneider) as proposed by Freitas et al. (2009). Thus, Ceraeochrysa cornuta (Navás), which has priority, is reinstated as the valid name [Reinstated status, reinstated combination], and Ceraeochrysa caligata (Banks) is reinstated as a junior subjective synonym of Cer. cornuta, not a valid species [Reinstated synonymy]. (c) We provide documented evidence for reinstating three synonymies that Freitas et al. had reversed [Reinstated synonymies]: (i) Allochrysa parvula Banks is a junior subjective synonym of Ceraeochrysa lineaticornis (Fitch); (ii) Chrysopa columbiana Banks is a junior subjective synonym of Ceraeochrysa lineaticornis (Fitch); (iii) Chrysopa rochina (Navás) is a junior subjective synonym of Ceraeochrysa cincta (Schneider). 2. Generic assignments: (a) Visual evidence is provided for the placement of Ceraeochrysa laufferi (Navás) in Ungla. Therefore, Ungla laufferi (Navás) is reinstated as the valid name [Reinstated combination]. (b) We question Freitas et al.’s rationale for including Cer. placita (Banks) and Cer. intacta (Navás) (as Cer. chiricahuae Freitas and Penny) in the genus Ceraeochrysa; female and larval features of the two species differ markedly from those used to characterize Ceraeochrysa species. As an alternative that recognizes the uncertainty surrounding the generic placement of these species and that avoids additional, unnecessary name changes, we propose including the caveat “genus incertae sedis” with the names, as follows: Ceraeochrysa placita (Banks), genus incertae sedis, and Ceraeochrysa intacta (Navás), genus incertae sedis. 3. Type designations: (a) Errors concerning the Chrysopa furculata Navás type in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris (MNHN), are corrected, and doubts raised by Freitas et al. (2009) concerning the identification of this specimen as the holotype are removed. (b) The earlier designation of the Chrysopa rochina (Navás) type in the MNHN as the lectotype (not holotype) is verified.

Abstract Two new Palaearctic species, Scathophaga annae sp. nov. and Scathophaga simaceki sp. nov. are described from Svalbard. An illustrated identification key for selected northern species from of the genus Scathophaga from the Palaearctic and Nearctic Regions is given. Two new combinations are provided: Coniostenum molle (Becker, 1894) comb.nov. for Scathophaga mollis (Becker, 1894) and Coniosternum nigripalpis (Becker, 1907) comb. nov. for Scathophaga nigripalpis (Becker, 1907). Two new synonyms are established, Scathophaga (Coniosternum) sychevskaye Ozerov, 2010, syn. nov. = Coniosternum molle and Scathophaga minuta (Maloch, 1935), syn. nov. = Coniosterum lapponicum Ringdahl, 1920. Scathophaga islandica (Becker, 1894) and Scathophaga villipes (Zetterstedt, 1846) are confirmed as valid species. The species Scathophaga furcata (Say, 1823) is confirmed again in this area. Scathophaga janmayeni (Séguy, 1939) is species incertae sedis. Scathophaga islandica (Becker, 1894) is first recorded from Greenland and Sweden (Lappland).

The genus Xylaplothrips is re-diagnosed, 11 species are listed as appropriately included in this genus of which three are new combinations from Haplothrips (X. acaciae; X. collyerae; X. gahniae). A further six species are listed as incertae sedis within Xylaplothrips and a key is provided to the four species of this genus known from Australia including X. anarsius sp.n. The genus Mesandrothrips is recalled from synonymy with Xylaplothrips, and a list is provided of 20 appropriately included species of which 14 are new combinations from Xylaplothrips (M. caliginosus; M. clavipes; M. darci; M. dubius; M. emineus; M. flavitibia; M. flavus; M. inquilinus; M. montanus; M. pictipes; M. pusillus; M. reedi; M. subterraneus; M. tener), and one is a new combination from Haplothrips (M. inquinatus). A key is provided to 10 species of this genus known from Australia, including three species transferred from Haplothrips, together with M. austrosteensia sp.n., M. googongi sp.n., M. kurandae sp.n., M. lamingtoni sp.n. and M. oleariae sp.n. The type species, M. inquilinus, is widespread across Southeast Asia as an invader of thrips galls, and Haplothrips darci Girault based on a single female from Queensland is considered closely related.

The misapplication of the name Tectaria griffithii is corrected, which results in the revival of T. multicaudata and the proposal of a new combination (T. multicaudata var. amplissima) and two new synonyms (T. yunnanensis and T. multicaudata var. singaporeana). For the reduction of Psomiocarpa and Tectaridium (previously monotypic genera) into Tectaria, T. macleanii (new combination) and T. psomiocarpa (new name) are proposed as new combinations. In addition, the new name Tectaria subvariolosa is put forward to replace a later homonym (T. stenosemioides).

AbstractThis catalogue is concerned with the closely related angiostrongylid generaAngiostrongylus,Gallegostrongylus,RodentocaulusandStefanskostrongylus. Three species,Angiostrongylus cantonensis,A. costaricensisandA. vasorum, have attracted most attention because of their importance in human and domestic animal disease. Many of the remaining species are poorly known and the number of valid taxa is unclear. The catalogue lists all nomenclaturally available and unavailable genus-group and species-group names that have been applied to the above genera and the species included in them, indicating their current nomenclatural status and providing the rigorous nomenclatural basis for future work. The catalogue lists 14 published and nomenclaturally available genus-group names, with the above four treated as valid, the other ten being junior synonyms. There are 42 published species-group names: 36 are valid, two are junior synonyms, four are nomenclaturally unavailable. One additional species, described inChabaudistrongylus(synonym ofAngiostrongylus), is listed asincertae sedisin Angiostrongylidae. Also listed are two unpublished collection names. The catalogue provides bibliographic details for all published names, and for available names provides locations of type material, details of type localities, geographic distributions and details of type and other hosts, both definitive and intermediate, to the extent known. The catalogue is a work of nomenclature, not a revisionary taxonomic work. No new names or new combinations are proposed. The apparently new family-group synonymy of Cardionematinae with Angiostrongylidae is introduced, as are four genus-group synonymies, three withAngiostrongylusand one withStefaskostrongylus.

The genus Haplosyllis Langerhans, 1887 is revised based on available types and newly collected specimens. 19 species are considered as valid, five as incertae sedis and four are referred to nomina dubia. Trypanoseta (Imajima, 1966) is synonymised with Haplosyllis, as the presence of trepan is considered a non-robust taxonomic feature, affecting H. ohma new comb. (Imajima & Hartman, 1964) and H. granulosa new comb. (Lattig, San Martín & Martín, 2007). Haplosyllis streptocephala (Grube, 1857) is a new combination and two species are considered to belong to Alcyonosyllis Glasby & Watson, 2001: A. bisetosa new comb. (Hartmann-Schröder, 1960) and A. gorgoniacola new comb. (Sun & Yang, 2004). All valid species are described and figured except those described during the last decade, which only includes diagnoses and chaetae illustrations. A dichotomous key to all valid species of Haplosyllis is provided.

Miltochrista Hübner, [1819] is a large genus of lichen-moths (family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae, tribe Lithosiini) including more than 160 valid species and widely distributed in Oriental and Palaearctic Regions. The genus for a long time was treated in a wide sense. Holloway (2001) treated as Miltochrista only a small group of species close to the type species of the genus Miltochrista miniata (Forster, 1771), resurrected genera Barsine Walker, 1854, and Lyclene Moore, [1860], and transferred the majority of former Miltochrista and Oriental Asura Walker, 1854 to these genera. Following Holloway's concept, many species were described as Lyclene during last two decades (Černý & Pinratana 2009; Kirti & Gill 2009; Bucsek 2012; 2014; Dubatolov & Bucsek 2013; 2014; Wu et al. 2013; Černý 2016). Kirti & Singh (2016) synonymized Lyclene with Miltochrista, but, nevertheless, the status of Lyclene is still debatable, and the generic/subgeneric structure of Miltochrista sensu lato needs revision (Volynkin et al., in prep.).

A worldwide checklist is provided for the family Endomychidae (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea). An updated subfamilial classification is presented, based on recent higher-level phylogenetic analyses and incorporating many recently described taxa. At present, Endomychidae contains 1782 valid species and subspecies in 130 genera organized into 12 subfamilies. Two new synonyms are recognized: Symbiotes latus Redtenbacher, 1849 = Symbiotes latus var. roberti Falcoz & Roman, 1930 syn. nov.; and Cholovocerida Belon, 1884 = Displotera Reitter, 1887b syn. nov. Two new combinations are proposed: Cholovocerida ecitonis (Wasmann, 1890) for Coluocera ecitonis Wasmann, 1890 comb. nov.; and Cholovocerida maderae (Wollaston, 1854) for Cholovocera maderae Wollaston, 1854 comb. nov. Loeblia ceylanica Dajoz, 1972a is here designated as the type species for Loeblia Dajoz, 1972a, and Rhymbus hemisphaericus Gerstaecker, 1858 is designated as the type species for Rhymbus Gerstaecker, 1858. Nomen nudum status is proposed for Mycetaea tafilaletica Smirnoff, 1957. Thirty-two species originally described under Corynomalus Chevrolat, 1836 and subsequently transferred to Amphix Laporte, 1840, have been returned to Corynomalus. Known fossil taxa are summarized.

The fauna of quill mites of the family Syringophilidae (Acari: Prostigmata: Cheyletoidea) of the Palaearctic Region is comprehensively revised. The external morphology of adults and immature instars was studied in detail. All known 118 species grouped in 32 genera and 2 subfamilies occuring in the Palaearctic Region are examined and keyed. Critical reviews of host associations, occupying habitat, and distribution are given for all mite species. Six new genera are proposed, 4 in the subfamily Syringophilinae: Betasyringophiloidus gen. nov., Krantziaulonastus gen. nov., Paraniglarobia gen. nov., Pteroclidisyringophilus gen. nov.; and 2 in the subfamily Picobiinae: Neopicobia gen. nov., and Rafapicobia gen. nov. Twenty five new species are described in the subfamily Syringophilinae: Aulobia leucostictus sp. nov., Aulonastus lanius sp. nov., A. loxius sp. nov., A. anthus sp. nov., A. fringillus sp. nov., Betasyringophiloidus saxicolus sp. nov., B. phoenicurus sp. nov., Krantziaulonastus oryzivorus sp. nov., K. lonchurus sp. nov., Meitingsunes columbicus sp. nov., Neoaulonastus remizus sp. nov., N. caligatus sp. nov., N. aegithalos sp. nov., N. picidus sp. nov., N. riparius sp. nov., Selenonycha chradriiformicus sp. nov., Syringophiloidus philomelosus sp. nov., S. petronicus sp. nov., S. parapresentalis sp. nov., S. coccothraustes sp. nov., Syringophilopsis idunae sp. nov., S. muscicapus sp. nov., S. passericus sp. nov., S. nucifragus sp. nov., Torotrogla pycnonotus sp. nov. and five new species are described in the subfamily Picobiinae: Picobia cetti sp. nov., P. riparius sp. nov., P. eremophila sp. nov., P. galerida sp. nov., and Rafapicobia zirnitra sp. nov. The following new combinations are proposed: Aulobia stachyris (Bochkov et al., 2000) comb. nov., Betasyringophiloidus motacillae (Bochkov and Mironov, 1998) comb. nov., B. schoeniclus (Skoracki, 2002) comb. nov., Columbiphilus alectoris (Fain et al., 2000) comb. nov., Columbiphilus polonica (Skoracki et al., 2001) comb. nov., C. pteroclesi (Skoracki and OConnor, 2010) comb. nov., Cuculisyringophilus chirovi (Bochkov and Mironov, 1998) comb. nov., Krantziaulonastus buczekae (Skoracki, 2002) comb. nov., Krantziaulonastus galbulicus (Skoracki, 2008) comb. nov., Neoaulonastus bisetatus (Fritsch, 1958) comb. nov., Neopicobia anthi (Fritsch, 1958) comb. nov., Neopicobia cardinalis (Skoracki et al., 2010) comb. nov., N. carpodacus (Skoracki et al., 2010) comb. nov., N. epthianura (Skoracki et al., 2008) comb. nov., N. glossopsitta (Skoracki et al., 2008) comb. nov., N. locustella (Skoracki et al., 2004) comb. nov., N. modularis (Skoracki and Magowski, 2001) comb. nov., N. pyrrholaemus (Skoracki and Glowska, 2008) comb. nov., N. troglodytes (Skoracki et al., 2010) comb. nov., N. zumpti (Lawrence, 1959) comb. nov., Paraniglarobia calidridis (Bochkov and Mironov, 1998) comb. nov., Paraniglarobia skorackii (Bochkov and Galloway, 2004) comb. nov., Pteroclidisyringophilus re (Skoracki and OConnor, 2010) comb. nov. Three species are considered as incertae sedis: Picobia brotogeris Fain et al., 2000, P. leucophaeus Skoracki et al., 2010, P. poicephali Skoracki and Dabert, 2002. Keys to the syringophilid genera and all Palaearctic species are provided. Main aspects of host–parasite relationships are discussed.
