A new species of the genus Polyodaspis Duda, 1933 (Diptera: Acalyptratae: Chloropidae) from Central Asia with a key to the Palaearctic species

The Nitidula carnaria complex is defined to comprise three Palaearctic species: the widely distributed Nitidula carnaria (Schaller, 1783), N. maculosa Fairmaire, 1866 occurring in the eremial of North Africa and the Middle East, and a newly described N. obenbergeri sp. nov. from northern China, Mongolia and neighbouring territories of Kazakhstan and Russia. First records are given for Nitidula carnaria from Georgia, Pakistan and Tajikistan; N. flavomaculata Rossi, 1790 from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; and for N. rufipes (Linnaeus, 1767) from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, China (Shaanxi) and Russian Eastern Siberia. A lectotype of Nitidula latiplaga Solsky, 1876 is designated to fix its synonymy with N. flavomaculata Rossi, 1790 established by Jelínek & Audisio (2007). Habitus photographs of all species and an identification key are provided to facilitate identification of world Nitidula species. Finally, comments on the classification of four Neotropical taxa previously classified in the genus Nitidula are offered and the following changes are proposed: Mystrops bourgeoisi (Grouvelle, 1914), comb. nov., = M. gigas Kirejtshuk & Couturier, 2009, syn. nov.; and Catonura complanata (Germain, 1855), comb. nov., = Catonura ruficollis (Reitter, 1873), syn. nov., = Catonura rufithorax Reitter, 1883, syn. nov.

The Palaearctic species of the genus Trichardis Hermann, 1906 are reviewed. A new species, T. lehri sp. nov., is described. A new synonymy is established: T. leucocoma (van der Wulp, 1899) = T. afanasievae Lehr, 1964, syn. nov. The male of T. mongolica V. Richter, 1972 is described for the first time. External features and the male genitalia of T. lehri sp. nov., T. leucocoma (van der Wulp, 1899) and T. mongolica V. Richter, 1972 are illustrated with photographs.

Saotis flavator sp. nov., a new species of ichneumon-flies, is described from southern Ukraine. The new species differs from other Palaearctic congeners in having entirely yellow pronotum, scutellum, and rather light abdomen.

Odontepyris costatus sp. nov. is described from Japan and Taiwan. This new species is most similar to O. formosicola Terayama, 1997 known from Cambodia and Taiwan according to the key to the Eastern Palaearctic Odontepyris. O. costatus sp. nov. can be distinguished from the latter by the relatively small eye and the wide metapectal-propodeal disc. It is also similar to O. telortis Lim & Lee, 2009 known from South Korea, but it is distinguished from O. telortis by the imbricate median area of metapostnotum. The morphological variations and diagnostic characters of the Eastern Palaearctic species are briefly discussed and the modified key to species is provided. Key words: new species, Japan, Taiwan, wing venation

The Western Palaearctic species of Ptinomorphus Mulsant & Rey, 1868 (Coleoptera: Ptinidae, Eucradinae) described by M. Pic and synonymized under P.imperialis (Linnaeus, 1767) and P. magnificus (Reitter, 1880) are reviewed. A new species P. janae sp. nov. is described. P. tauricolus (Pic, 1906) and P. caucasicus (Pic, 1901) are removed from synonymy with P. magnificus; the status of P. perpulchrus (Obenberger, 1917) is clarified and P. angustior (Pic, 1896) is reinstated as a full species. P. angustior var. maculatus (Pic, 1922), which is currently treated as a synonym of P. imperialis is synonymised with P. magnificus. A key is provided to the Western Palaearctic species of Ptinomorphus.

  Herminium Linnaeus (1758: 251) is a genus of about 30 species, which are collectively distributed mainly inthe Himalayas with few species extending into Europe, central Asia, and southeastern Asia (Pridgeon et al. 2001, Pearce & Cribb 2002, Chen et al. 2009). The genus is characterized by its terrestrial or rarely epiphytic habitat, a concave lip base that is not auriculate and does not have any glands, a lip 2–3 (–5) that is lobed, not spurred and a bilobed stigma with an obscure rostellum. Nepal has nine species of Herminium, which are distributed in the subtropical to alpine regions (Hara et al. 1978, Banerji 1984, Banerji & Pradhan 1984, Press et al. 2000, Department of Plant Resources 2001, Rajbhandari & Dahal 2004; Rajbhandari & Baral 2010). During field work in 2012 in Chandragiri, central Nepal, another species of Herminium was collected, the characteristics of which do not match with any previously described species of the genus. It is illustrated and described here as new.

Taxonomic characters separating the genera Lauxania, Calliopum and Sapromyza are discussed. The taxonomy of Sapromyza sordida, S. halidayi and S. tuberculosa is revised. Sapromyza sordida and S. halidayi are proposed junior synonyms of S. tuberculosa, which is transferred to Calliopum, comb. nov. The Minettia punctiventris group of species is characterized and the following taxonomic changes are proposed: Minettia suillorum (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830), = Sapromyza tinctiventris Rondani, 1868—syn. nov.; = Sapromyza muricata Becker, 1895—syn. nov.; = Sapromyza subtinctiventris Papp, 1981—syn. nov. Minettia aenigmatica sp. n. is described within this group.

Two new species groups are established for East Palaearctic species of the genus Anthobium Leach, 1819: the atrocephalum group containing the widespread Palaearctic A. atrocephalum (Gyllenhal, 1827), A. formosanum Shavrin, sp. n. (Taiwan), A. hammondi Watanabe, 1990 (Japan), A. lackneri Shavrin, sp. n. (Japan: Hokkaido), and two Chinese species, A. kabateki Shavrin, sp. n. (Yunnan, Gansu) and A. marci Shavrin, sp. n. (Sichuan); the convexior group containing four new species from China: A. convexior Shavrin, sp. n. (Shaanxi, Sichuan), A. auritum Shavrin, sp. n. (Yunnan), A. kabaki Shavrin, sp. n. (Sichuan), and A. semenovi Shavrin, sp. n. (Sichuan). New species are described and illustrated. The species groups are defined, briefly discussed and a key to the species of each group is given. Additionally, a new species of the morchella group, A. inopinatum Shavrin, sp. n. (China: Yunnan) and the nigrum group, A. bengalicum Shavrin, sp. n. (India: West Bengal), are described and illustrated. New faunistic records of A. reflexum (Reitter, 1891) from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are provided.
