Two new species of the genus Broscosoma Rosenhauer, 1846 (Carabidae: Broscinae) were found in China: Broscosoma xuhaoi sp. nov. from Chongqing City and Broscosoma zhengyuandongi sp. nov. from Fujian Province. Habitus and diagnostic features of the new species are described and illustrated. An updated list of all known Chinese Broscosoma species is given.

Two new species of the genus Broscosoma Rosenhauer, 1846 are described from China: Broscosoma guoliangi sp. nov. from Fujian Province and Broscosoma qiului sp. nov. from Chongqing City, respectively. In addition, Broscosoma ribbei rougeriei Deuve & Tian, 2002 is newly recorded from Derung-Nu Autonomous County Gongshan, Yunnan Province, China.

The article describes two new species: Roepkiella jakli sp. nov. (type locality: Indonesia, Sangir Isl., Tahuna Distr., Bukit Bembalut Hill) and R. korshunovi sp. nov. (type locality: Thailand, Khon Kaen Prov., Phu Wiang Wat). The diagnostic features are given, the male genitalia of R. celebensis (Roepke, 1957) are described for the first time.

Cryptostemma miyamotoi sp. nov. and,sp. nov. from Japan are described. Habitus images and illustrations of diagnostic features, including genitalic structures, are provided. A key to the Eastern Palaearctic species is offered to facilitate identification. Habitats and behavior of the two new species are discussed based on the field and laboratory observations. The gender agreement of,(Miyamoto, 1964) is corrected.

Recent survey work for planthoppers at La Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica found two new species allied with Cenchrea Westwood. The cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and 18S were sequenced for the new taxa and used these data to assess the genus-level standing of the new taxa. The new taxa do not cluster with Cenchrea dorsalis Westwood, the type species of Cenchrea. A new genus Tico gen. n. described for the reception of new species described as Tico emmettcarri sp. n. (the type species) and Tico pseudosororius sp. n. Cenchrea sororia Fennah is moved to Tico gen. n., to form the new combination Tico sororius (Fennah). Tico gen. n. is compared with allied genera, and review genus-level diagnostic features and the species composition of Cenchrea, which appears to be compositionally heterogenous, but additional data is needed to evaluate genus-level placement of most species.

Two new riffle beetles of the genus Zaitzevia Champion, 1923: Z. chenzhitengi sp. nov. from Sichuan Province and Z. xiongzichuni sp. nov. from Yunnan Province are described from China. Habitus and other diagnostic features of the new species are described and illustrated. Habitat information and collection data of the new species are also provided.

Two new species of Dorsiceratus Drzycimski, 1967 (Copepoda, Harpacticoida, Ancorabolidae), Dorsiceratus wilhelminae sp. nov. and D. dinah sp. nov. are described from Sedlo and Seine Seamounts, respectively (both northeast Atlantic). These are the first records of Dorsiceratus species from seamount summits. Both new species resemble the described species D. octocornis Drzycimski, 1967, D. triarticulatus Coull, 1973, and D. ursulae George, 2006, with respect to most morphological features. On the other hand, D. wilhelminae sp. nov. has long spinules at the inner margin of the A2 enp, while D. dinah sp. nov. bears two, rather than one, tubepores dorsally on third abdominal somite, and a geniculate first outer seta on P1 exp2. These characters are considered as apomorphic relative to the described Dorsiceratus species. As discussed in the present paper, the maintenance of a genus Dorsiceratus appears to be problematic. Although specimens may be assigned without difficulty to a group “Dorsiceratus”, such assignments are based on diagnostic features only; no clear-cut apomorphies have been detected so far to characterize the monophyly of Dorsiceratus. Just two apomorphic characters appear to be synapomorphies for all of the described Dorsiceratus species: 1) P2 enp2 with one rather than two setae and 2) P4 exp sexually dimorphic. Unfortunately, these features are relatively widespread within the Ceratonotus-group sensu Conroy-Dalton (2001) and therefore of rather low value. The authors decided, however, to retain the genus Dorsiceratus until new insights provide more information to support or disprove that hypothesis.

Two new species, Pseudocossonus shanghaiensis sp. nov. and P. yunnanensis sp. nov., from China are described. A key to all eight species of Pseudocossonus in the world, including P. acer from Java, P. brachypus from Japan, P. brevitarsis from Japan, P. dimidiatus from New Guinea, P. nigripes from East India and P. planatus from China (Taiwan) and Japan, is presented. Illustrations of diagnostic features of the new species are provided.

The Fannia carbonaria-subgroup belongs to the Fannia carbonaria-group Chillcott, 1961. The world fauna of this subgroup is reviewed, the diagnostic features of the subgroup are redefined, and a key to the males of the known species is given. Two new species from China are described: F. dorsovittata Wang sp. nov. and F. subfuscitibia Wang sp. nov.. To facilitate comparisons of the species, Fannia corvina (Verrall), Fannia imperatoria Nishida and Fannia xiaoi Fan are redescribed. Geographic distributions of the species of the subgroup are updated. The systematic position and distribution patterns of the F. carbonaria-subgroup are discussed.

Here we describe a new genus, Cleidella gen. nov., and two new species, C. picea sp. nov. and C. silveirai sp. nov., all from Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The new genus is characterized by the interantennal distance subequal to scape length, antenna with 11 antennomeres, IV to X with two long symmetrical branches; mandibles long, projected and not crossed, pointed forward obliquely from head; maxillary palpi 4‑segmented, last segment digitiform; labial palpi 2‑segmented; posterior tentorial pit consisting of a single small fossa; elytron surpassing from the fourth to fifth abdominal segment, 3.3‑3.9× longer than wide; first tarsomere of protarsus with a ventral comb as long as the tarsomere length; wing with radial cell closed and transverse, vein r4 interrupted; aedeagus with paramere symmetrical, apex unevenly round, toothed inward, with short and scarce bristles. We provide a key to Mastinocerinae genera with 11 antennomeres, as well as illustrations for the diagnostic features for this new genus and a key to its species.

The validity of Genolopa Linton, 1910 has been controversial because the observation of presently recognized critical diagnostic morphological features (spines in the genital atrium and a bipartite, anteriorly spined terminal organ) were omitted from the original diagnosis, and these features were not universally appreciated as important diagnostic features until 2008. Modern taxonomists have been further challenged by inappropriate fixation techniques that have resulted in various interpretations of morphological features. Consequently, named species in the genus have fluctuated among other monorchiid genera depending on various interpretations by taxonomists, and a modern consensus on classifying these species is lacking. This study combines a molecular approach with modern conventional morphological techniques to investigate the validity of Genolopa as a lineage within the Monorchiidae. New morphology and molecular sequence data from the type-species of Genolopa were studied, and two new species in the genus were described, Genolopa vesca n. sp. and Genolopa minuscula n. sp. Interrelationships among the Monorchiidae were explored using Bayesian inference analysis of the partial 28S rDNA fragment, incorporating three species of Genolopa for the first time. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that the genus represents a natural lineage, supporting the presence of spines in the genital atrium in conjunction with a bipartite and anteriorly spined terminal organ as key features of the generic diagnosis. This study also provides for the first time partial 28S rDNA data for Postmonorchis orthopristis, Lasiotocus trachinoti, Lasiotocus glebulentus, and an unidentified species of Lasiotocus.
