A new species of iceryine scale insect, Icerya viraktamathi Joshi sp. n. (Hemiptera: Monophlebidae), is described and illustrated based on adult females collected from Magnolia champaca (L.) Baill. ex Pierre (Magnoliaceae) in Meghalaya, North-East India. A taxonomic key to the species of Icerya Signoret known from India is provided. The new species appears to be related to I. zimmermanni, which is known from Indonesia, Thailand and India.

Reinwardtia 18(2): 105−113. — A new species, Trichodesma kumareum S.D.Yumkham, N.P.Devi, S.D.Khomdram & M.R.Devi (Boraginaceae) is described and illustrated from Manipur State of North East India. It shows affinity with T. khasianum and T. calycosum, but can be differentiated from the rest by its larger size in habit, helicoid cyme, closely packed numerous flowers ranging between 120–160 in number per inflorescence, presence of eight faucal appendages at the base of corolla lobes, adpressed urn–shaped flowering calyx and 1–4 lobed ovaries. A comprehensive description, photographs, relevant notes, conservation status and key to species are incorporated.

A new species: Katha volynkini Joshi & Singh, sp. nov. is described from Mizoram & Meghalaya (North East India). A checklist of Katha species from the World with a taxonomic key to the Oriental species is provided. A new combination, Katha suffusa (Leech), comb. nov. is established, and L. chekiangica Daniel, is synonymized under K. suffusa.

The oak red scale insect, Kuwania quercus (Kuwana), was described from specimens collected from the bark of oak trees (Quercus species) in Japan. More recently, the species has been identified from California and China, but Californian specimens differ morphologically from Japanese material and are considered here to be a new species based on both morphological and molecular data. In this paper, an illustrated redescription of K. quercus is provided based on type specimens consisting of adult females, first-instar nymphs and intermediate-stage females, and a lectotype is designated for Sasakia quercus Kuwana. The new Californian species, Kuwania raygilli Wu & Gullan, is described and illustrated based on the adult female, first-instar nymph and intermediate-stage female. A new generic diagnosis for Kuwania Cockerell based on adult females and first-instar nymphs, and a key to species based on adult females are included.

A new species, Terminalichus simplex sp. nov., is described based on adult females, deutonymphs and protonymphs, collected on Terminalia catappa L. (Combretaceae) from Thailand. The relationship of Terminalichus with other brevipalpine genera is discussed and a key to species of Terminalichus, Tenuilichus, Amblypalpus, Colopalpus and Priscapalpus is provided.

In the present paper, we report the occurrence of the cricket subgenus Gryllitara Chopard, 1931 from India along with the description of a new species, Itara (Gryllitara) pilosa sp. nov., from the state of Kerala, South India. Suitable plates with close-up details have been presented to describe the new species, as well as for Itara (Itara) vietnamensis Gorochov being reported from North East India.

A new species of Ferorhinella Carvalho & Webb 2004 from southeastern Brazil is described and illustrated, and a taxonomic key to species in the genus is provided. Ferorhinella itatiaiensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from other known species of the genus mainly by the paramere with rounded apex and two subapical lateral spines on outer surface, one long, dorsally inserted and the other one small, ventrally inserted; and dorsal margin of the subgenital plates with a rectangular elevation, covered with small, tooth-like spines.

The adult female and first-instar nymph of a new species of soft scale insect, Hemilecanium mangiferae Kondo & Williams sp. nov., are described and illustrated. This species was collected on the trunk and branches of mango, Mangifera indica L., in Nakhon Pathom and Sukhothai Provinces, Thailand. The insect can cause serious damage by depleting the host sap and by producing large amounts of honeydew on which sooty molds grow. Damage was severe on the local mango cultivar, Nam DokMai. Also included are a revised diagnosis of the genus, a revised key to the adult females of the five species currently placed in the genus, and a key to the known firstinstar nymphs.La hembra adulta y la ninfa del primer estadio de una nueva especie de escama blanda, Hemilecanium mangiferae Kondo & Williams sp. nov., se describe e ilustra. Esta especie fue colectada en el tronco y ramas del mango: Mangifera indica L. en las provincias de Nakhon Pathom y Sukhothai, Tailandia. Este insecto puede causar daños severos al mango deprivando el árbol de savia, y produciendo gran cantidad de melado cual induce el crecimiento de fumaginas. El daño fue más severo en un cultivar local conocido como Nam Dokmai. Tambien se incluyen una diagnosis revisada para el género, una clave revisada para las hembras adultas de las cinco especies actualmente incluidas en el género, más una clave para las ninfas del primer estadio conocidas.

A new species, Ophionyssus schreibericolus Moraza sp. nov. is described, based on adult females, males and protonymphal instars. Ophionyssus schreibericolus parasitizes Lacerta schreiberi, a lizard endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, and known to have persisted in refugial populations throughout the Pleistocene. A key to adult females, males and protonymphs of the genus Ophionyssus is presented. Ophionyssus viperae Miron & Ivan 2003 is synonymised with O. natricis (new synonymy).
