Taxonomic revision of the genus Psoricoptera Stainton, 1854 (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae: Gelechiinae) from China, with descriptions of three new species

The Chinese fauna of Psoricoptera Stainton, 1854 included two described species prior to this study. In the present paper we describe three new species: P. curva sp. nov., P. minutignatha sp. nov. and P. proximikawabei sp. nov. P. speciosella Teich, 1893 is recorded from China for the first time. The total number of Psoricoptera species in China is brought to six. The female of P. latignathosa is described for the first time. Photographs of adults and genitalia are provided, along with a key to the Chinese species. A Neighbor-Joining (NJ) tree is provided for species identification and association of the sexes.

Three new species of the genus Craspedomerus from China are described and illustrated: C. giganteus Li & Zhou sp. n. from Sichuan, C. gongshanus Li & Zhou sp. n. from Yunnan and C. zhangi Li & Zhou sp. n. from Tibet. Four species are reported for the first time from China: C. sinetuber (Coiffait, 1977a) from Tibet, C. cyanipennis Scheerpeltz, 1976b, C. ganeshensis Coiffait, 1983 and C. glenoides (Schubert, 1908) from Yunnan. These four and two additional species previously recorded from China (C. beckeri Bernhauer, 1934 and C. violaceipennis Cameron, 1928 are redescribed and illustrated. Sensory peg setae located on the underside of the paramere of the aedeagus of all nine Chinese species are compared using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the result shows that this character is useful for species identification. A key to the Chinese species of Craspedomerus is presented and geographical distribution of all sixteen species of Craspedomerus is mapped.

The tarantula genus Lyrognathus Pocock 1895 is revised with three new species described: L. achilles sp. nov. from Gunung Nibung, Borneo; L. fuscus sp. nov. from Simpang Kubur, Borneo and L. lessunda sp. nov. from Lombok Island, Indonesia. The male of L. robustus Smith 1988 is described for the first time, the female is redescribed. L. crotalus Pocock 1895 is considered a senior synonym of L. pugnax Pocock 1900. Several new characters are discussed, with Lyrognathus keyed to species. The diagnosis of the Selenocosmiinae is amended. Zoogeographic distribution, natural history and subfamilial relationships with proposed sister genera Selenocosmia Ausserer 1871 and Coremiocnemis Simon 1892 are discussed. Lyrognathus saltator is redescribed. Selenocosmia lyra Strand 1913 is considered a nomen dubium.

A taxonomic revision of exclusively African genera of Prodidominae (Gnaphosidae), with the exception of Theuma, is provided. Austrodomus Lawrence, 1947 is revised. The type species A. zuluensis Lawrence, 1947 is redescribed, the male of A. scaber (Purcell, 1904) is described for the first time, and one new species, A. gamsberg sp. nov. (♂), is described from Namibia. Katumbea Cooke, 1964 is considered a junior synonym of Austrodomus and A. oxoniensis (Cooke, 1964) comb. nov. from Tanzania is redescribed. Eleleis Simon, 1893 is revised. The type species, E. crinita Simon, 1893, is redescribed and eight new species are described: E. limpopo sp. nov. (♂♀) from South Africa and Zambia, E. okavango sp. nov. (♂♀) from Botswana and Namibia, E. etosha sp. nov. (♂♀), E. himba sp. nov. (♂) and E. luderitz sp. nov. (♀) from Namibia, E. leleupi sp. nov. (♂) and E. haddadi sp. nov. (♀) from South Africa, and E. solitaria sp. nov. (♀) from Cape Verde. Purcelliana Cooke, 1964 is revised. The type species, P. problematica Cooke, 1964, is redescribed and three new species are described: P. kamaseb sp. nov. (♂♀) and P. khabus sp. nov. (♂♀) from Namibia, and P. cederbergensis sp. nov. (♂) from South Africa. Plutonodomus Cooke, 1964 is redescribed based solely on the type species, P. kungwensis Cooke, 1964. In addition, three new genera are described: Kikongo gen. nov., to include K. ruwenzori sp. nov. (♂♀) and K. buta sp. nov. (♂♀) from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R. Congo), and K. rutshuru sp. nov. (♂♀) from D.R. Congo and Kenya; Kituba gen. nov., to include K. mayombensis sp. nov. (♂♀) and K. langalanga sp. nov. (♀) from D.R. Congo; and Yoruba gen. nov., to include Y. ibadanus sp. nov. (♂♀) from Nigeria and Y. toubensis sp. nov. (♂♀) from Ivory Coast. Distribution maps are provided for the species discussed in this study and an identification key is provided for all twelve genera of Prodidominae recorded in Africa.

A taxonomic revision of the genus Ixchela Huber, 2000 is presented. The previously described five species are redescribed with new taxonomic information and new distribution records. The males of Ixchela placida (Gertsch, 1971) and Ixchela simoni  (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1898) are described for the first time. Ten new species are described, nine from Mexico and one from Honduras: Ixchela mixe new species, Ixchela huberi new species, Ixchela juarezi new species, Ixchela grix new species, Ixchela taxco new species, Ixchela franckei new species, Ixchela tzotzil new species, Ixchela santibanezi new species, Ixchela huasteca new species, and Ixchela viquezi new species. Identification keys for males and females are presented.

The genus Scybalocanthon Martínez, 1948 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae: Deltochilini) is revised and now consists of 23 valid species. Eight new species are described: S. acrianus new species, S. adisi new species, S. arnaudi new species, S. chamorroi new species, S. federicoescobari new species, S. haroldi new species, S. martinezi new species, and S. papaxibe new species. Scybalocanthon uniplagiatus (Schmidt, 1922) new combination is placed in the genus for the first time. The following species previously assigned to Scybalocanthon are here placed in the genus Canthon Hoffmannsegg, 1817: Canthon arcabuquensis (Molano & Medina, 2010) new combination, Canthon balachowskyi (Martínez & Halffter, 1972) new combination, Canthon luctuosus Harold, 1868, Canthon magnus (Molano & Parrales, 2015) new combination, and Canthon nigellus Schmidt, 1922. Scybalocanthon imitans (Harold, 1868) is a new junior subjective synonym of S. sexspilotus (Guérin-Méneville, 1855) and S. zischkai Martínez, 1949 is a new junior subjective synonym of S. aereus (Schmidt, 1922). Lectotypes are designated for S. aereus (Schmidt, 1922), S. cyanocephalus (Harold, 1868), S. darlingtoni (Paulian, 1939), S. kaestneri (Balthasar, 1939), S. maculatus (Schmidt, 1920), S. moniliatus (Bates, 1887), S. pinopterus (Kirsch, 1873), S. pygidialis (Schmidt, 1922), S. trimaculatus (Schmidt, 1922), and S. uniplagiatus (Schmidt, 1922). A neotype is designated for S. sexspilotus (Guérin-Méneville, 1855). A detailed literature review, synonymies, diagnosis, key for species identification, illustration of key morphological characters, as well as data of the studied material and geographic distribution are provided for each species.

A new species of the genus Pedesta Hemming, 1934, viz. P. wangi sp. nov., is described as new to science from northwestern Guangxi, southern China. Based upon 455 bp partial COI sequences, a neighbor-joining (NJ) tree including the new species and twelve congeneric species is reconstructed. It shows that P. wangi sp. nov. is a cryptic species of P. xiaoqingae (Huang & Zhan, 2004), and the mean Kimura-2-Parameter distance between them reaches 2.8%. Wing patterns and genitalic structures of the males of the two species are illustrated and compared. In addition, three female samples are associated with P. xiaoqingae male in the NJ tree, and its wing pattern and genitalia are illustrated and described herein for the first time.

The genus Cyrtonotula Uvarov, 1939 (Blaberidae, Epilamprinae) is recorded for the first time from Hainan Island, China. Three new species, Cyrtonotula epunctata Wang & Wang, sp. nov., C. maculosa Wang & Wang, sp. nov., and C. longialata Wang & Wang, sp. nov., are described based on morphological data and a molecular analysis using Automatic Barcode Gap Discovery (ABGD). Additional barcode data of blaberid species, including these three new species, are provided to facilitate future species identification. Morphological photographs and habitat photos of these new species, as well as a key to the known species, are provided.

A taxonomic revision of the species-group related to M. filiformis (Saussure 1854) is presented along with an identification key to species. After Richards (1978) and following the rearrangement of the subgenus Omega de Saussure by Silveira (2008), the species-group considered herein included three species in addition to M. filiformis; i.e. M. buyssoni (Ducke 1906), M. napoensis Richards 1978 and M. omicron Richards 1978.  In the present work, three new species are added: M. nazgul sp. nov.; M. asahi sp. nov.; M. kallindusfloren sp. nov.; the male of M. filiformis is also described here in detail for the first time, and new distributional records are provided for the included species.

The Archipini fauna of the Caribbean is revised to include 33 species. Most previously described species occurring in the region are redescribed and figured, with 13 new species: Argyrotaenia brownisp. nov., A. crypticasp. nov. (including A. c. crypticassp. nov. and A. c. praeteritanassp. nov.), A. paradiseisp. nov., A. razowskianasp. nov., Claduncaria rawlinsanasp. nov., Cla. praedictanasp. nov., Cla. tainosp. nov., Clepsis davisisp. nov., Cle. deronisp. nov., Cle. jamesstewartisp. nov., Cle. peroniaesp. nov., Mictocommosis lesleyaesp. nov., and Mictopsichia nyhllindasp. nov. Three new combinations are proposed: Claduncaria mesosignaria (Razowski, 1999), comb. nov. The concept of Claduncaria is expanded and its diagnosis is modified to more clearly define its generic boundaries. A unique external sexual coupling mechanism in Claduncaria is discussed. Keys to the genera and species of Caribbean Archipini, distribution maps, a regional checklist, and Neighbor-joining and Maximum Likelihood trees based on COI barcode data are provided. Phylogenetic relationships among Caribbean Archipini are briefly discussed.
