Response Surface Analysis (RSA) enables researchers to test complex psychological effects, for example, whether the congruence of two psychological constructs is associated with higher values in an outcome variable. RSA is increasingly applied in the personality and social psychological literature, but the validity of published results has been challenged by some persistent oversimplifications and misconceptions. Here, we describe the mathematical fundamentals required to interpret RSA results, and we provide a checklist for correctly identifying congruence effects. We clarify two prominent fallacies by showing that the test of a single RSA parameter cannot indicate a congruence effect, and when there is a congruence effect, RSA cannot indicate whether a predictor mismatch in one direction (e.g., overestimation of one’s intelligence) is better or worse than a mismatch in the other direction (underestimation). We present a young adult male patient with chronic Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) stage Ⅱ-Ⅲ, mostly involving buttocks, thighs and perineum. The patient has been followed initially by a dermatologist for 2 years with trials of Biologic treatments. The ongoing purulent discharges made him quite dysfunctional. Patient was offered a definitive and extensive surgical option. Considering this conditions’ devastating social, psychological effects, such patients should be managed with a multidisciplinary team, elaborated education and counseling. Initial line of treatment plans should be considered as preparatory to the definitive surgical excisional therapy. Patient’s acceptance to the entire package that goes with the definitive surgery is fundamental for a successful and lasting outcome. Complete surgical resection of the disease and reconstruction remains to be the only available option for cure in a fully established HS.

This study is a review article. Gerontology literature was reviewed and issues of latent aging were systematically formed. According to the results of the study, latent aging consists of perceptual diagnosis, research, adoption, and reactive actions.Reactive actions include the social, psychological and physical effects of latent aging. The social effects of latent aging are the decline of social relations and social isolation. Depression, stress, anxiety, traumas and cognitive decline are among the psychological effects. Chronic musculoskeletal pain, sleep disorders, premature mortality, and suicidal ideation were determined as physical effects. The detection of latent aging is important in the prevention of chronic diseases.It was revealed that latent aging has the following four main processes: perceptual diagnosis and coding, research and comparison, adoption and reactive actions. Furthermore, this aging approach has three significant effects: social, psychological and physical.
