In this paper, the authors propose an algorithm for interrelated voltage regulation in the power supply system of coal mine which allows to provide a normative voltage level and to minimize the level of active power consumption. A feature of the proposed algorithm is a separate consideration of discrete and nondiscrete variables. Nondiscrete variables are represented as a state matrix. The optimization of nondiscrete variables is performed for each state. The algorithm chooses a state with the minimal active power consumption. The obtained values of discrete and nondiscrete variables are transferred in the form of control signals to voltage regulation devices. In this case, the periodicity of the switching is determined by the resource of the on-load tap-changing device. The use of this algorithm will theoretically allow increasing the energy efficiency of power supply systems of coal mines.

The urgency and necessity of choosing and justifying the structures of hybrid filter-compensating devices based on series and parallel active filters to improve the quality of electricity in the power supply systems of enterprises of the mineral resource complex is shown. Mathematical models of hybrid filter compensating devices based on parallel and series active filters have been developed. Based on these mathematical models, computer simulation models of the indicated hybrid structures have been developed. The results of simulation showed the effectiveness of the correction of power quality indicators in terms of reducing the level of higher harmonics of current and voltage, as well as voltage deviations. The degree of influence of filter-compensating devices on the power quality indicators, which determine the continuity and stability of the technological process at the enterprises of the mineral resource complex, have been revealed. It has been established that a hybrid filter-compensating device based on a parallel active filter can reduce the level of higher harmonics of current and voltage by more than 90 and 70 %, respectively, and based on a series active filter, it can reduce the level of higher harmonics of voltage by more than 80 %. Based on the simulation results, the possibility of compensating for the reactive power of a hybrid structure based on parallel active and passive filters has been revealed. The possibility of integrating hybrid filter-compensating devices into more complex multifunctional electrical systems for the automated improvement of the quality of electricity is substantiated, as well as the expediency and prospects of their use in combined power supply systems based on the parallel operation of centralized and autonomous sources of distributed generation.

Abstract The article describes the main methods of reactive power compensation used in 27.5 kV AC traction power supply systems on the railways of the Russian Federation. The cases of installation of the longitudinal and transverse capacitive compensation devices at traction substation and sectiolizing post are considered in this paper. Based on experimental data their effectiveness has been analysed by comparing the main parameters of the traction power supply system before and after the installation of the compensating devices. The main effect in terms of power consumption reduction is achieved through application of reactive power cross-compensation devices. The results of the analysis show that the total electricity consumption in the researched area decreased by 23 % and the proportion of higher harmonic elements of voltage decreased by 15 %.

The article discusses the issues of creating contactless switching devices for automatic quality control and operation modes of power supply systems, using the developed contactless thyristor voltage relays, characterized by high reliability and speed, combining a sensitive system and a powerful final controlling element. Schemes with operating principles and experimental characteristics are given. It is proposed to use it to automatically turn on or off the booster transformer winding when the input voltage changes to maintain the rated voltage of electricity consumers, as well as to create a power regulator for capacitor banks of reactive energy compensating devices.

The introduction of technologies for active-adaptive control of the operating modes of the power supply systems of coal mines can contribute to an increase in the energy efficiency of coal mining. High-response FACTS devices of the second generation can be used for dynamic reactive power compensation, voltage regulation and limitation of current and voltage harmonic components in conditions of sharply variable electrical loads of mining machines at a breakage face. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the implementation of FACTS devices in the power supply systems of coal mines can be performed using simulation methods. This article discusses the main approaches to the development of a simulation model of a power supply system of a coal mine, mining equipment and FACTS devices. The main results of modeling the joint operation of mining machines are shown. Conclusions about the effectiveness of the use of FACTS devices in the extraction area of a coal mine are made.
