Located on the Atlantic coast of South America, the Lagoa Mirim watershed occupies an area of 47,362 km2 of direct contribution and 55,110 km2 including the coastal strip. It has a high pollution index of agricultural origin because of the territorial extension of the areas used for this purpose. Another important factor that contributes to the pollution of this lagoon is the launching of untreated urban and industrial sewage into the São Gonçalo watercourse, where Lagoa Mirim interconnects with Lagoa dos Patos. This study aimed to use multivariate statistical methods, such as FA/PCA, to analyze the water quality of this water resource. Water samples were collected in 2014, 2015 and 2016 at eight monitoring points of Lagoa Mirim. Ten parameters of water quality were analyzed. In general, the variables showed a strong correlation with each other. There were four main components of quality for the water body studied with an accumulated explained variance of 80.24%. These components are mainly related to agricultural and urban pollution. The results attest to the relevance of using statistical methods for the monitoring of this lagoon. They also provide an idea of the processes that influence the water quality.

Urban development, agricultural runoff and industrialization have contributed pollution loading on the environment.  In this study Hemavathi river water from a stretch from its origin point to its sangama was studied for pollution load by determining parameters of water quality like pH, Alkalinity,  Ca, Mg, Nitrate, TDS, BOD, COD , and the results were compared with WHO and BIS standards to draw final conclusion on the quality of water.

Changes of microbial indices of water quality in the Vistula and Brda rivers as a result of sewage treatment plant operationThis paper reports the results of studies of microbiological changes in the water quality of the Vistula and Brda rivers after the opening of sewage treatment plants in Bydgoszcz. The study involved determining the microbiological parameters of water quality. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the quality of the water in both rivers had improved decidedly after the opening of the plants, although an increased number of individual groups of microorganisms was found at the treated sewage outlet from one of the plants.

Environment degradation in Rawa Pening’s lake is caused of descend lake’s functions for some potentions and activities around the lake. Some problems in the Rawa Pening’s lake has emerged i.e : decrease water quality of lake, abundance of water hyacinth growth and increase sediment in the bottom lake. A research about infl uences of land ecosystem on Panjang and Galeh river corridors for Rawa Pening’s lake has been done. Two rivers named Galeh and Panjang are the largest water contribution in Rawa Pening’s lake. That caused the land characteristic ecosystem of that river corridors gives infl uences in the Rawa Pening’s lake.Key words: land ecosystem, river corridor, water contribution, Rawa Pening Lake.

The study aims to determine the quality of clean water in the villages of Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu and Halong by comparing the result of water quality analysis with water quality standard. Water quality analysis includes Physiscal, Chemical, and Microbiological parameters. This research uses descriptive method, this method describes systematics, accurate about facts and characteristic of the quality of clean water of each research location. The results showed that the source of clean water in the village of Batumerah did not meet the standard of clean water quality standards indicated by the number of E. coli and the high total coliform.  Keywords: standard quality of clean water, water quality, Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu and Halong villages   ABSTRAK Penelitian yang bertujuan untuk menetapkan kualitas air bersih di Desa Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu dan Halong, dengan membandingkan hasil analisis kualitas air dengan standar baku mutu air bersih. Analisis kualitas air meliputi parameter fisika, kimia dan mikrobiologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif; metode ini menggambarkan sicara sistematis, akurat, fakta dan karakteristik mengenai kualitas air bersih di masing-masing lokasi penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sumber air bersih di Desa Batumerah tidak memenuhi standar baku mutu air bersih yang ditunjukkan oleh jumlah E. coli dan total Koliform yang tinggi. Kata Kunci: baku mutu air bersih, Desa Wainitu, Batumerah, Amahusu dan Halong, kualitas air
