Software is complex and expensive product. As to the automation systems are applied the high wants, included reliability of software. To realize projects in the field of automation of technolo-gy processes it is necessary to construct the new software and to improve, adapt and transfer existing software. The field of investigations and trial of software reliability was not automated yet, the instrumental tools are absent, witch can allow to estimate reliability indexes at all stages of software life cycle. In the article it is developed the structure of automation system for soft-ware reliability monitoring.

The paper presents the currently used techniques for the development of the automation control systems. It begins with the introduction of the concepts used in software engineering: software crisis, software disaster, and software life cycle. The subsequent chapters extend the latter by including the most popular software development models. Then, based on the V model, the role of verification and validation in the software and controller life cycle is presented, and the test techniques used in the controller validation are given. These test types include: software in the loop, processor in the loop, and controller in the loop. The last chapter describes the technique of designing automation systems based on the advanced mathematical models Model-Based Design.

Software reliability assessment plays an important role in the software reliability engineering, but the traditional software assessment method mostly focuses on evaluation by use of failure data which is gained only after testing or usage in the late phase of the software life cycle. Thus people hope to get every stage’s information about the software’s reliability which is taken as the reference or accordance to guide the software’s design, analysis and testing and so on. The correlative factors of various products, processes and resources in the whole software life cycle have a very important effect on software reliability and, uncertainty exists in the software reliability evaluation to some extent. Fuzzy evaluation has a strong applicability for solving the fuzzy problem and an approach for software reliability qualitative evaluation based on fuzzy evaluation was proposed in this paper. Firstly the rationale and process of this method were described in detail, then a case study was implemented. The experimental results showed that the approach was feasible and effective.

This article surveys the current achievements concerning smart thermostats for smart homes and smart buildings and observes the level of smartness of the microclimate control systems for buildings and rooms. The article shows the results of analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the marketed solutions and sets requirements for smart thermostat as a component of building automation system. All solutions were classified at three “smartness levels”, from zero to second, where zero level means simple manually adjusted temperature regulator, first level assumes working according the programmable schedule. The second level smart thermostat automatically generates and dynamically changes its schedule basing on the users’ activity and presence, as well as on user-defined priorities. The article sets goals for further research in the field of self-learning algorithms for smart thermostat, because it seems actual to develop a self-learning smart thermostat capable of supporting a large buildings; it should analyze user behavior and effect control both at the level of a whole building and at the level of single rooms. Keywords: smart thermostat, smart home, building automation, energy saving, control systems, controller, regulator, algorithm

As we all know, relevant data during software life cycle can be used to analyze and predict software reliability. Firstly, the major disadvantages of the current software reliability models are discussed. And then based on analyzing classic PSO-SVM model and the characteristics of software reliability prediction, some measures of the improved PSO-SVM model are proposed, and the improved model is established. Lastly, simulation results show that compared with classic models, the improved model has better prediction precision, better generalization ability, and lower dependence on the number of samples, which is more applicable for software reliability prediction.

Natural gas compressor stations are very important components of a natural gas life cycle. Unfortunately, in Romania most of the existing natural gas compressor stations are equipped only with old-type automation systems, with a high degree of physical and moral wear. The current paper describes the main elements and functions of an automation system that was implemented in a natural gas compressor station, offering an improved pressure control function, but also the possibility to control the compressors from a distance, for example from a central dispatching station.
