Jornalismo. Revista. Contraponto.Abstract : The mass media contributes to the process of recycling stereotypes and prejudices and as result many of them become enduring. In this sense, the concern with the issue of Human Rights is undisputed as wellas its discussion and production of research in the university level. Thus, students from the Journalism Course of UFRRJ produced a magazine in order to oppose the prevailing contente of the hegemonic media, presenting more humanized visions about Rio de Janeiro and some of its characters. The goal was to carry out reflective coverage, contributing to the questioning of the stereotypes. The editorial line was based on the humanrights and ethics. Due to the lack of sponsorship and printing difficulties, the product became available on the internet and is being also publicized in congresses. The methodology included research on the themes listed, field work and interviews. Periodically, meetings were held to evaluate the production and its link to the editorial line. As regards the results, there are the XXIII Expocom Sudeste Award and receptivity in the university it self. This article, therefore, is an experience report of the Revista Contraponto. Keywords: Human rights. Ethics. Jornalism. Magazine. Contraponto.

Thomas Mathiesen’s ‘The Viewer Society’ has been widely influential. Mathiesen posited, alongside the panopticon, a reciprocal system of control, the synopticon, in which ‘the many’ watch ‘the few’. I point to the value of Mathiesen’s arguments but also suggest a reconsideration. I consider where recent challenges to theorizing surveillance as panoptic leave the synopticon. The synopticon is tied to a top—down, instrumental way of theorizing the media. It neglects resistance, alternative currents in media production and reception, the role of culture and the increasing centrality of the internet. Mathiesen’s piece is most useful in a narrower way, in highlighting how surveillance and the mass media interact, rather than in thinking about the role of the media in control more generally.

For marginalized religious and political groups, the Internet is a powerful tool for informational and organizational purposes. Important examples of this are Branch Davidian and Waco-related websites. A survey of these sites shows that the controversy over what happened in 1993 that led to the Waco tragedy still rages on the Internet. Despite the fact that Branch Davidian survivors, Libertarians, Second Amendment rightists, and the militia movement have very different political, ideological, and in some cases, theological positions, they employ a common set of symbols to make their case——that what happened at the Branch Davidians' Mount Carmel was wrong. In particular, their websites use shared symbols to protest, effectively offering a powerful counter-vision in contrast to what they perceive as the promulgation of pernicious stereotypes and untruths about David Koresh, the Branch Davidians, and the Waco tragedy by the government and the mass media.

Abstract: The teaching of catur warna in Hindu sacred literature, the Vedas, is so exalted, but seems to be the cultural system of social stratification which appears to violate human rights and has damaged the image of Hinduisme throughout the ages. Application of wangsa system in determining the catur warna that has caused disquiet among many Hindus. The evidence is the many custom cases which appear in different regions of Bali. Conflicts about the wangsa is already an open secret that often decorate the mass media in Bali, even sticking to the national level; as shown in the form of literary novel titled Tarian Bumi (2000), and Kenanga (2003) work Oka Rusmini. It happens because of the supremacy of customary feudalism kingdom era that has been too long not being perfected in accordance with the teachings of catur warna. Key Words: catur warna, social criticism, stratification

The article is devoted to the problem of ensuring balance in the realization of two fundamental human rights and freedoms in a democratic society – the right to freedom of speech and privacy. It has been concluded that the rights to freedom of speech and privacy are recognized as fundamental human rights that do not conflict with each other but are intangible, inherent in every person. The right to freedom of journalism is a continuation of the right to freedom of speech and information and consists in the collection, storage, and dissemination of socially important information through the mass media. The usage of the rights in question, including in the mass media actions, may not be grounds for restricting or violating the right of everyone to privacy, the confidentiality of correspondence, correspondence, telephone conversations, and entails criminal liability in cases provided by law. In the public interest, the law provides grounds for exempting a journalist from criminal liability for disclosing confidential information, in particular in the case of disclosure of information of public interest or has already been published in other media, or concerns officials of public authorities.

This part narrates how, when anti-Semitism reared its ugly head in Poland during the 1950s, the author fled in 1958 to West Germany, another one of the striking twists in his development. Thanks to his connections with numerous German writers and key people in the mass media, he was able to establish himself quickly on the cultural scene. Indeed, it is astonishing how fast he became famous if not notorious. Through his reviews, books, and radio and television shows, he focused all his efforts on re-establishing the great humanistic tradition of German literature and became the spokesman for the renewal of this tradition on the contemporary scene. In 1972, he received the first honor of his life: an honorary doctorate of the University of Uppsala.
