Three new species of biting midges belonging to the genus Dasyhelea Kieffer are described as a result of the extensive entomological surveys in the Deltaic Proper of Gangetic West Bengal, India. Adult and pupal stages of Dasyhelea (Dasyhelea) multiforamina sp. nov. and D. (Sebessia) bulbosa sp. nov., and all the life stages of D. (Pseudoculicoides) aprojecta sp. nov. are described. Dasyhelea (Prokempia) flaviformis Carter, Ingram and Macfie is also recorded first time from the Oriental region as only adult stage. They are described, illustrated and photomicrographed. A short note on bionomics of the four species is provided. The subgeneric placement of seven species previously described from India and keys to the Indian species of Dasyhelea based on male and female are also furnished. Key words: Dasyhelea, new species, new record, immature, Sebessia, Prokempia, Pseudoculicoides, Key, Oriental Region

Abstract Adult males of three new species, Dasyhelea (Prokempia) barbistyla, Dasyhelea (Pseudoculicoides) pseudohama and D. (Sebessia) scalpra are described from India. The Palaearctic species Dasyhelea (Dasyhelea) pallidiventrisis recorded for the first time from India. Dasyhelea (Ps.) deemingi BOORMAN & HARTEN, 2002 is revised, Dasyhelea (Ps.) acuta BRAHMA, SAHA & HAZRA, 2016 is deemed a junior synonym of Dasyhelea similinigrina NAVAI, 1994, and a key to the Indian species of the subgenera Dasyhelea, Prokempia, Pseudoculicoides and Sebessia is provided.

Three new species of Carinostigmus Tsuneki from the Oriental Region of China are described: Carinostigmus frontirugatus Bashir & Ma, sp. nov., C. latidentatus Bashir & Ma, sp. nov., and C. vesulcatus Bashir & Ma, sp. nov. In addition, ten species are reported, of which Carinostigmus palawanensis (Tsuneki) is recorded in China for the first time. A key to known and new species of the genus Carinostigmus Tsuneki from China is provided.

The genus Hydropsyche is reviewed from India. Three new species are described and illustrated belonging to genus Hydropsyche. The newly described species are Hydropsyche curvata sp. nov., H. hajinensis sp. nov., both from Jammu & Kashmir, and H. golitarensis sp. nov. from Sikkim. Hydropsyche quadrata Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2000 (from Sikkim), H. augeias Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2000 (from Uttarakhand) and H. camillus Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2000 (from Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh) are reported for the first time from India. Hydropsyche athamas Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2000, H. homunculus Schmid 1965, and H. harpagofalcata Mey 1995 are also redescribed and reported for the first time from India. Hydropsyche nuristanica Schmid 1963 (from Jammu and Kashmir) and H. rakshakaha Oláh 1994 (from Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal) are reported from these states for the first time. Hydropsyche charon Malicky & Chantaramongkol 2000, from Uttarakhand, H. appendicularis Martynov 1931, and H. pallipenne Banks 1938 are also redescribed and reported from Himachal Pradesh. Hydropsyche claviformis Mey 1996 is also redescribed based on a specimen from Sikkim. Furthermore, the male is redescribed and a neotype is designated for Hydropsyche asiatica Ulmer 1905. Hydropsyche chotanagpurensis is a nomen novum, replacing junior homonym Hydropsyche ulmeri (Martynov 1935). With these additions, the total number of Indian species for genus Hydropsyche is now 54. A catalogue of known Indian species is also given.

Pangrapta Hübner, 1818 was erected for the North American species P. decoralis Hübner, 1818 as its type species. The genus Pangrapta presently consists of about 100 species, and is widely distributed in China and surrounding regions, as well as in the New World (Hu & Wang, 2013). In this article, three new species, P. nanlingensis sp. n., P. jianfenglingensis sp. n. and P. hainanensis sp. n., are described from China. Each of them is superficially similar to the species, P. neorecusata (Hu & Wang, 2013), P. perturbans (Walker, 1858) and P. pannosoides (Holloway, 2005), correspondently. The known Southeast Asian species, P. shivula (Guenée, 1852), is reported for the first time from China. Adults and genitalia are illustrated. The type series of all described species (including holotypes) are deposited in Southwest University of Science and Technology (SWUST), Mianyang, China.

Genera and species of the tribe Coelidiini from the Indian subcontinent are reviewed. Glaberana Nielson, Webbolidia Nielson and Zhangolidia Nielson are recorded from India for the first time. The barbeled dragonfish genus Eustomias in Taiwan is reviewed. Five species in three subgenera are recognized, including three new species, a new record, and an unidentified species. Eustomias (Dinematochirus) dendrobium sp. nov. can be distinguished from its congener by its unique barbel structure. Eustomias (Haploclonus) stamen sp. nov. has a unique barbel structure and diagnostic meristic characters. Eustomias (Nominostomias) tritentaculatus sp. nov. has an extremely long barbel and distinct pigmentation, with fin ray counts that are different from most similar species. Eustomias (Nominostomias) perplexus Gibbs, Clarke & Gomon 1983, widespread in the western Pacific Ocean is reported for the first time from Taiwan. Three specimens of Eustomias were only identifiable to subgenus Haploclonus due to their poor condition.

Oniticellini Kolbe, 1905 is a paucispecific tribe of the scarab beetle subfamily Scarabaeinae. The tribe is composed of 256 described species worldwide, while from India, 26 species were recorded to date. Beetles belonging to this tribe are commonly known as paracoprid dung beetles and perform some remarkable ecological functions. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of knowledge on the occurrence of these beetles in the mega diverse tropical forests of the Himalayan foothills located in the north of the West Bengal state of India. A first faunistic account of the tribe Oniticellini Kolbe, 1905 from Baikunthapur Forest, located at the Himalayan foothills of the West Bengal state of India is presented. A total of five species of the tribe distributed over two genera Tiniocellus and Liatongus were recorded during multiple surveys of the scarab fauna of the Forest. All taxa were recorded for the first time from the area, while Tiniocellus spinipes (Roth, 1851) is a new record for the West Bengal State of India. Additionally, a preliminary checklist of Indian species of the tribe is also provided.

Helochares (Hydrobaticus) MacLeay, 1871 is the largest subgenus of Helochares Mulsant, 1844. The Chinese fauna of Helochares (Hydrobaticus) is still poorly known. Five species are recognized, including three herein described as new: Helochares (Hydrobaticus) hainanensis sp. n. (Hainan); H. wuzhifengensis sp. n. (Jiangxi); H. tengchongensis sp. n. (Yunnan). Helochares minor d’Orchymont, 1925 and H. nipponicus Hebauer, 1995 are recorded from China for the first time. Descriptions, diagnoses, and illustrations of the new species are given. Habitus and aedeagus photos of the new record species are provided.
