A catalogue of type specimens of Psocoptera (Insecta: Psocodea) destroyed in the fire of 2.IX.2018 at the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro (MNRJ) is presented. 20 holotypes and six paratypes, included in four families of Psocoptera (Cladiopsocidae Smithers, 1972; Dolabellopsocidae Eertmoed, 1973; Epipsocidae Pearman, 1936 and Ptiloneuridae Roesler, 1940), all described by New (1972) and deposited in the MNRJ were destroyed during the fire. The taxa are presented alphabetically by suborders, infraorders, families, and genera, followed by species (updated to the valid name), bibliographic citation, type category, description of the type condition with collection number and method of preservation. When necessary, comments are added.

A catalogue of type specimens of Psocoptera (Insecta: Psocodea) deposited in the collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, is presented and updated to February, 2019. 45 holotypes and 47 paratypes of 52 species were found, included in the suborders Psocomorpha and Trogiomorpha, and listed in the families Amphipsocidae, Asiopsocidae, Caeciliusidae (infraorder Caeciliusetae); Lachesillidae and Pseudocaeciliidae (infraorder Homilopsocidea); Philotarsidae (infraorder Philotarsetaea) Hemipsocidae, Myopsocidae and Psocidae (infraorder Psocetae); Ptiloneuridae (infraorder Epipsocetae), and Lepidopsocidae (infraorder Atropetae). The taxa are presented alphabetically by suborders, infraorders, families, subfamilies, tribes and genera, followed by species (updated to the valid name), bibliographic citation, type category, description of the type condition with collection number and method of preservation. When necessary, comments are added.

The catalogue of type specimens of the phyla Acanthocephala, Nematoda and Rotifera deposited in the Invertebrate Collection of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), Manaus, Brazil, is presented and updated to July, 2005. A total of three holotypes and six lots of paratypes of three species of Acanthocephala; nine holotypes and 16 lots of paratypes of nine species of Nematoda; and 12 holotypes, six lectotypes, nine lots of paratypes and five lots of paralectotypes of 23 species and subspecies of Rotifera are listed. Specific and subspecific names are listed alphabetically within family, followed by bibliographic citation, original genus name, status of type, collection number, locality data (host and site of infection for parasitic species), and remarks where appropriate. A list of references containing the papers in which the taxa were first described is furnished.

An updated catalogue of type specimens of Acari, Palpigradi, Pseudoscorpiones, Ricinulei and Schizomida deposited in the Invertebrate Collection of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), Manaus, Brazil, is presented. A total of 19 holotypes and 23 lots of paratypes of 22 species of Acari; three lots of paratypes of one species of Palpigradi; 28 holotypes and 209 lots of paratypes of 30 species of Pseudoscorpiones; two holotypes and two lots of paratypes of two species of Ricinulei; and five holotypes and two lots of paratypes of six species of Schizomida are listed. Scientific names are listed alphabetically by family, followed by bibliographic citation, type status, collection number, locality data, collector, and collecting date.

There are 29 species or subspecies in genus Hexacentrus occurring in Asia, Africa and Australia. Because of its similar appearance, it is not easy to distinguish them by traditional methods. In this study, we collected samples and sequenced COI genes from wide range. By reconstructing the gene tree, we found one new species, H. formosanus Chen et He sp. nov., from Taiwan. The new species is similar to H. expansus or H. inflatissimus, but differs from the former in male Cu2 vein of left tegmina curved and slender, and spectrum of male left tegmina slender and subsquare; differs from the later by body size smaller and female tegmina narrow and short. The type specimens are deposited in National Museum of Natural Science, Taichung, Taiwan (NMNS). H. japonicus hareyamai is treated as species level, H. hareyamai stat. nov.

Holotypes of 19 species and non-type specimens preserved in the Sasa collection at The National Museum of Science, Tokyo, Japan, have been examined. Seventeen new synonyms are given, as follows: Paratrissocladius ogasaduodecimus Sasa et Suzuki, 1997 = Paraphaenocladius impensus (Walker, 1856); Bryophaenocladius togafelix Sasa et Okazawa, 1992, and B. toganitemus Sasa et Okazawa, 1992 = Pseudorthocladius togakileus Sasa et Okazawa, 1992; Bryophaenocladius togatenuis Sasa et Okazawa, 1992 of Smittia nudipennis (Goetghebuer, 1913); Chironomus daitoefeus Sasa et Suzuki, 2001 of C. circumdatus Kieffer, 1916; C. inaabeus Sasa, Kitami et Suzuki, 2001 = C. nippodorsalis Sasa, 1979; C. tokarabeceus Sasa et Suzuki, 1995 = C. okinawanus Hasegawa et Sasa, 1987; C. ginzanbeceus Sasa et Suzuki, 2001 = C. riparius Meigen, 1904; C. simantobeceus Sasa , Suzuki et Sakai, 1998 = C. claggi Tokunaga, 1964; C. echizensis Sasa, 1994 = C. yoshimatsui Martin et Sublette, 1972; Chironomus famiabeus Sasa, 1996, C. inabeceus Sasa, Kitami et Suzuki, 2001 and C. ginzanabeus Sasa et Suzuki, 2001 = Glyptotendipes biwasecundus Sasa et Kawai, 1987; Chironomus kagaensis Sasa, 1994 = Glyptotendipes tokunagai Sasa, 1979; Chironomus toyamabiceus Sasa, 1996 = Kiefferulus umbraticola Yamamoto, 1979; Microtendipes iriocedeus Sasa et Suzuki, 2000 of Polypedilum bingoparadoxum Kawai, Inoue et Imabayashi , 1998. The sufficient reason why Chironomus daitocedeus Sasa et Suzuki, 2001 should be treated as a junior synonym of C. javanus Kieffer, 1924 is shown. Two further species: Paratrissocladius sudagaicedeus Sasa et Tanaka, 2001 and Bryophaenocladius togatenellus Sasa et Okazawa, 1992 are transferred to Chaetocladius. Specimens from Okinawa, Miyako and Ishigaki Islands, originally reported as Rheocricotopus chalybeatus (Edwards, 1929) are identified as R. okifoveatus Sasa, 1990. A new species, Einfeldia sasai is described on the basis of specimens recorded from Minamidato Island, previously incorrectly determined as E. pagana.

A catalog of the type material of 59 taxa of Neotropical Pierinae housed in the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, is presented. Each entry includes the species-group name, the original combination quoted from the original publication, the type locality, the type specimens with their labels, and notes about current taxonomic status. One new synonym has been established, Euterpe dysoni Doubleday, 1847 = Leodonta marginata Schaus, 1902. Lectotypes are designated for 5 species group taxa: Archonias intermedia Schaus, 1913, Hesperocharis jaliscana Schaus, 1898, H. paranensis Schaus, 1898, Pieris sublineata Schaus, 1902, and P. limona Schaus, 1913.
