Computer systems are increasingly adapting to user needs. Human-machine interaction or human-computer interaction (HCI), as it is known, has discussed sociological approaches in order to design interfaces taking into account user's differences. This article presents an analysis of the Facebook social network based on the evolution of traditional HCI and some of its concepts for feminist HCI, thus exploring its functionality and evaluating it in this context. Surveys based on the concepts of feminist HCI were applied to evaluate this methodology and the impacts on gender diversity in these systems. The results indicate that most users seek more freedom to express themselves at the system and its content.

Handwritten signatures widely exist in our daily lives. The main challenge of signal recognition on handwriting is in the development of approaches to obtain information effectively. External mechanical signals can be easily detected by triboelectric nanogenerators which can provide immediate opportunities for building new types of active sensors capable of recording handwritten signals. In this work, we report an intelligent human-machine interaction interface based on a triboelectric nanogenerator. Using the horizontal-vertical symmetrical electrode array, the handwritten triboelectric signal can be recorded without external energy supply. Combined with supervised machine learning methods, it can successfully recognize handwritten English letters, Chinese characters, and Arabic numerals. The principal component analysis algorithm preprocesses the triboelectric signal data to reduce the complexity of the neural network in the machine learning process. Further, it can realize the anticounterfeiting recognition of writing habits by controlling the samples input to the neural network. The results show that the intelligent human-computer interaction interface has broad application prospects in signature security and human-computer interaction.

AbstractThe digital transition refers to the fact that information technology (IT) tools are used in all our activities on a daily basis. In this article, we will study the use of IT tools in engineering activities. It is possible to say that today IT tools accompany engineers in their professional practices. This presence of computing has also enabled the development and considerable changes in human-technologies interactions. Moreover, the socio-economic context has evolved considerably, and environmental issues have taken on an important role in engineering. We ask whether and to what extent these two contexts (digital and ecological) have changed the expectations of design professionals with regard to IT tools. Should the way of addressing the type of human-machine interaction in engineering tools be modified in depth? The objective of this paper is to understand what types of human-computer interaction would allow a more satisfying user experience for those future engineers who are using new technologies and marked by the ecological urgency. To do so, we will focus on a particular engineering context (design for sustainability) and a particular engineering practice (LCA practice).

This paper is written by two people who come from rather different backgrounds, yet who, at the same time, share similar concerns about the human-computer interaction (HCI) area. One of us has a background in computing and cognitive science. The other person has a background in software engineering and computer systems design. As both of us are concerned with making more useful and usable computer applications we decided to look further for frameworks to help us. In this paper we shall try to expose some of the problems that we encountered in our joint effort to understand the HCI area and contribute to it, and to discuss some of the tensions and alternative viewpoints that we met on the way. The paper does not contain a solution to the problems of HCI. Rather, it contains a dialogue with ourselves about the matters of our concern, and we invite the reader to join this dialogue: our focus is on technology in use, where we emphasize the setting in which a piece of technology is used.

In this article we will examine some important issues related to human-computer interaction (HCI). This will be followed by a discussion of usability and its underlying principles and properties. The dependability of computer systems is intrinsically multi-faceted. Dependable hardware is patently of limited value unless accompanied by dependable software. Neither helps greatly if human interaction with the hardware and software system is fault-prone and the dependable socio-technical performance of an inappropriate task may cause wider damage (MacKenzie, 2000).

AbstrakUntuk meningkatkan sebuah system atau perangkat lunak (PL) yang dapat difungsikan dengan baik, maka perlu juga untuk menguasai dan memahami karateristik user yang akan berinteraksi dengan system atau PL ini. HCI disini adalah proses interaksi antara user dengan computer. Persona adalah teknik Human Computer Interaction (HCI) yang menggabungkan sebuah informasi tentang user untuk memahami karakteristik daripada user tersebut. Persoalan yang sering terjadi dalam interaksi user dengan komputer yaitu sering terjadinya salah pengertian dari user persona terhadap PL yang ada, sehingga bukan efektivitas dan efisiensi kerja yang diperoleh, akan tetapi justru menyebabkan pekerjaan tidak efisien dan efektiv, user sering mengalami kesulitan menggunakan PL tersebut karena tidak familiar dengan PL, PL juga terlalu rumit sehingga sulit dipelajari, PL tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna dan tidak atau belum mengakomodasi kebutuhan yang penting bagi pengguna. Tujuan penelitian dilakukan untuk mendapatkan berbagai perspektif penggunaan PL sesuai dengan karakteristik pengguna, sehingga rancangan kebutuhan PL diharapkan dapat mewakili dari berbagai macam tipe pengguna. AbstractTo improve a system or software (PL) that can function properly, it is also necessary to master and understand the characteristics of users who will interact with this system or PL. HCI here is the process of interaction between users and computers. Persona is a Human Computer Interaction (HCI) technique that combines information about a user to understand the characteristics of that user. The problem that often occurs in user interaction with computers is that there is often a misunderstanding of the user persona of existing software, so that it is not the effectiveness and efficiency of work obtained, but instead causes inefficient and effective work, users often have difficulty using the software because it is not familiar with PL, PL is too complex so it is difficult to learn, PL is not according to user needs and does not or does not accommodate needs that are important to users. The purpose of the study was conducted to obtain various perspectives on the use of software according to user characteristics, so that the design of software needs is expected to be able to represent various types of users.

Abstrak: Open Journal Systems (OJS) adalah aplikasi perangkat lunak open source untuk mengelola dan menerbitkan jurnal ilmiah, untuk mendukung fungsinya tersebut Open Journal Systems (OJS) secara umum memiliki fitur yang dalam perkembangan setiap versinya mengalami perbaikan dan penyesuaian dengan kebutuhan. Proses penerbitan jurnal sangat berdampak pada proses akreditasi jurnal, oleh karena itu perlu dipahami proses bisnis alur pengiriman artikel dari author menggunakan Open Journal Systems (OJS) hingga artikel di publish. Dalam sistem diperlukan pemodelan perencanaan, desain dan penggunaan interface antara pengguna dan komputer, interaksi ini dikenal sebagai interaksi antara manusia dengan komputer (Human Computer Interaction). Framework digunakan untuk memahami interaksi sistem komputer memberikan fasilitas bahasa antara bahasa user  dan bahasa sistem. Pengguna (user) dan sistem komputer (system) dapat saling berinteraksi menggunakan beberapa cara interaksi yaitu style kombinasi form fill-in dan direct manipulation. Framework is used to understand the interaction of computer systems to provide language facilities between the user's language and system language. Users (users) and computer systems (systems) can interact with each other using several modes of interaction, namely the combination style form fill-in and direct manipulation. Gestures are a natural input method for human communication and may be effective for drivers to interact with in-vehicle infotainment systems (IVIS). Most of the existing work on gesture-based human-computer interaction (HCI) in and outside of the vehicle focus on the distinguishability of computer systems. The purpose of this study was to identify gesture sets that are used for IVIS tasks and to compare task times across the different functions for gesturing and touchscreens. Task times for user-defined gestures were quicker than for a novel touchscreen. There were several functions that resulted in relatively intuitive gesture mappings (e.g., zooming in and zooming out on a map) and others that did not have strong mappings across participants (e.g., decreasing volume and playing the next song). The findings of this study suggest that user-centric gestures can be utilized to interact with IVIS systems instead of touchscreens, and future work should evaluate how to account for variability in intuitive gestures. Understanding the gesture variability among the end users can support the development of an in-vehicle gestural input system that is intuitive for all users.
