Construction industry is taken into consideration as one of the maximum crucial industries in India. These phenomena may additionally have an effect on the development of construction industry in India. In addition to may additionally expose many establishments of construction to be destroyed. Delays in addition to disruptions are sources of capacity risks that studies are looking into techniques to manipulate along with technical, social, monetary, felony, economic, useful resource, creation and commercial. To evaluate the reasons of delays and conflicts are due to: layout modifications, delays in price to contractors, facts delays, investment troubles, bad challenge management, compensation problems and disagreement at the valuation of labor accomplished. On the other hand, time overrun, cost overrun, bad social effect, idling assets and disputes are the principle outcomes of delays and disruptions. The observe concludes the reasons of delays and disruptions and their outcomes placed construction projects at extremely great risk that have an impact on their performance the use of primavera. 

Cost overrun and delay are the most important factors which affect the rate of progress in construction industries. There are numerous Risks are involved in cost and schedule overrun which leads to unprofitable situation or dropping the project. Previous literature studies are mainly focused only on cost overrun and delay but they do not deal with their risks which is important to study. This study is to assess the factors influencing time and cost overruns on construction projects and their risks also. The objectives of the study were achieved through valid questionnaire. The questionnaires are collected over 40 construction companies. From this survey, identify and ranking the various elements which are responsible for the inflation of cost and schedule overrun using analytical software like SPSS. And discuss about the significant values obtained from the collecting data and recommendation and mitigation ideas from the ranking of overrun factors. The significant value should be more than 0.05 and from our analysis most of the factors are above that value. The study clarified that incorrect estimates and low productivity level of labors highly contributes to overrun in construction management. It will leads to unprofitable situation, so proper scheduling and better management will rectify these problems.

Design changes in construction projects are always going to happen and cannot be avoided. Design changes are the primary contributor to disruption of time and cost performance of construction projects. Previous research in this domain lacks of detail studies on systematic review on the existing literature. This paper reviewed literature published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings in the construction management field and had emailed several questions to the expert in construction industry. The objectives were to recognize the causes and impacts of design changes on project performance and to provide insights for future studies in Malaysian context. The findings indicate that design changes originate mainly from the owner side are identified as important causing factors to time overruns and cost overruns. This paper proposes framework for the management of design changes in construction projects.

UAE construction industry frequently faces poor cost performance which commonly known as cost overrun problem. This problem is resulted from several factors and it is important to identify these cost overrun factors in order to avoid and minimize it. Hence, this paper focused on determined the relevancy of factors affecting cost performance in construction projects of UAE. Through a review of past research works conducted globally, 27 factors of cost overrun were listed and used for developing a structured questionnaire. A survey was conducted with 33 practitioners from client, consultant and contractors organizations involved in handling construction projects in UAE. The respondents were requested to state their perception regarding the relevancy of each of the factors that was perceived in context with cost overrun issue using 5-points Likert scale. The responses were analysed using average index method and the results found that all the 27 factors are relevant with construction industry of UAE in causing cost overrun. These factors can be used for further investigation to uncover critical problems of cost overrun.

Construction practitioners recognise that rework is undesirable due to the detrimental effects. While rework literature has examined rework causation factors in construction projects, the problem continues to plague the industry resulting in poor delivery performance. To better understand this phenomenon and given the scarcity of Malaysian-based rework study, a questionnaire survey involving 130 Malaysian construction practitioners (consultants, contractors and clients) were undertaken to obtain feedback about nature, implications, causes and solutions for rework. Data were analysed using descriptive statistical techniques to prioritise the variables studied. From the analyses, rework is a causal factor for delays and cost overruns, higher wastage and productivity inhibitor. The findings revealed the leading causes of rework are poor quality management, improper planning, lack of communication, design changes and poor subcontractor management. Some practical rework minimisation approaches are also suggested to better manage and prevent rework towards enhanced project performance.

Construction industry is considered to be one of the most important industries in Vietnam's economy. But many construction industry sectors have been experienced chronic problem as cost overrun. Therefore, a conceptual model of factors influencing construction cost was developed to determine the key factors that cause difference between budget cost and actual cost and some solutions are recommended to be applied to achieve the best outcome of cost. The result of analyzing 216 construction projects completed from 2002 to 2007 by companies located in Ho Chi Minh City indicated 6 main factors varying construction cost: project planners, project executives, economics, political, natural environment, fraudulent and lost. The results of multiple linear regression model confirmed the relationship between these above 6 factors and construction cost with the theories are supported at the statistically significant level of 0.05.


In the Indian scenario construction industry facing a major problem is cost and time overrun. Effective time performance and cost performance are very important to execute the project in a successful manner by keeping them within the prescribed schedule and cost. Overall cost and duration of construction projects affected by the effective resource selection factor. This paper's objective is to rectify the improper selection of resources by a programming tool. Field survey and codebook study did collect the needed data to feed in the programming tool. The prepared tool gets distributed and making to access by every stakeholder of construction projects. This may result in the selection of construction resources as effectively. The term cost overrun in the resource part will be reduced.

Design-Bid-Build (DBB) or commonly known as Traditional method is the earliest and most prevalent procurement method used in Malaysian construction industry. Design-Build (DB) and Construction Management (CM) procurement methods were later introduced in Malaysia as an endeavour to satisfy and accommodate the increase in project complexity and the need for avoiding drawbacks of the Traditional methods. Each procurement method has different nature and possesses certain characteristics. Therefore, this study was carried out to ascertain and compare the characteristics of these three procurement methods that are implemented in building construction projects in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey was conducted among architects, consultants, contractors and owners or developers to elicit their feedback on the characteristics which were categorised into time, cost, quality, complexity and flexibility, degree of involvement and responsibility allocation and technical expertise. The findings indicated that only DB method almost fulfils all the characteristics under the six categories, whereas, DBB methods garnered agreement only for certain characteristics under time, cost, complexity and flexibility and technical expertise categories. Meanwhile, the only CM method’s characteristics that satisfy agreement from the respondents are the often used of fast track approach and lack of certainty in price. This study concludes that when a procurement method is adopted for a construction project, not all the features or characteristics will turn out as expected. There are many factors that contribute and are influential on the success in procurement methods that are worth for further investigation.

The problems of material waste and cost overruns are common in the construction industry. These problems occur at different stages of a construction project, from planning, design to project completion. The argument on how to eliminate cost overrun has been on-going for the past 70 years as on-site wastage of materials leads to increase in the final project cost. This paper examines the relationship between the causes of material waste and those of cost overrun at the pre-contract and post-contract stages of a project. The desktop methodological approach was firstly adopted in comparing the causes of material waste and those of cost overruns from the literature, in order to determine the possible relationship. Subsequently, interviews were purposively conducted with construction professionals within Abuja, Nigeria, in order to verify the literature based information. The result reveals that all the causes of material waste also cause cost overrun at the pre-contract and the post-contract stages of a project. 96.88% and 81.81% of the causes of cost overrun also cause material waste at the pre-contract and post-contract stages respectively. Other causes which are not related are mostly, the micro-economic and macro-economic factors. These results are not different from those of the interviews conducted with professionals and summarised in the tick box. It was also found that to achieve Effective Construction Material Waste Management (ECMWM) for any construction project, material waste must be controlled at its sources and causes, and at different stages of a project. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that effective management of material waste would translate into a reduction in the level of project cost overrun. The study recommends that construction-project managers, as well as the construction practitioners should encourage the management of material-waste causes, as it has the potential to minimise cost overrun for projects.

Delays and cost overruns are obviously common problems in the construction industry in several developed and developing nations. The purpose of this study is to identify factors cause delays and cost overruns in the construction of palm oil refinery projects in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey of a randomly selected sample was filled by 89 respondents. The questionnaire included 179 factors which classified into 13 groups. The degree of importance of the delays and cost overrun factors were evaluated and ranked by importance degree, based on the viewpoints of stakeholders. The data was analytically investigated by descriptive statistic methods and Relative Important Index (RII). The results of RII showed that Delays in subcontractor’s work, Lack of subcontractor skill, and Poor/inadequate planning and scheduling with RII 0.78, 0.77, and 0.75, respectively, are the most important causes. These causes represent the baseline margin for project management of palm oil refinery construction and development. According to these results, it is suggested that: project client should collaborate with contractors and simplify payments procedures to mitigate delays; coordinate continuously and enhance the association among project stakeholders are obligatory in order to improve the project performance.

  Construction industry in India is second largest next to agriculture. In current era of infrastructure development construction projects occupy a key position. In any construction project contract time and cost overrun is a common feature, which gives rise to claims leading to disputes. These disputes if not handled properly tend to consume time and money of all parties to the contract. To resolve the dispute in optimum time, it is essential to understand the root cause of disputes as early as possible. Hence there is a need of analyzing the disputes scientifically.  The present study reveals from the study of arbitration awards that the causes for delay claims can be grouped in domains and the probable decisions to the disputes can be traced through the probing questions considered by decision makers. This paper attempts to identify questions related to disputes for Indian scenario through literature, arbitration awards, court cases and discussions with professionals.
