Many museums spend time and money fruitlessly competing with Wikipedia, creating online information resources and image galleries that will be mostly ignored, as Wikipedia is usually the highest ranked search result for any query. Wikimedia Commons can host searchable, downloadable images and Wikipedia can be easily edited by volunteers and specialists; both cost nothing to use and have a global audience. Yet most museums have no Wikipedia strategy, and often their institutional copyright policies – needlessly, for most natural history collections – prevent them from engaging and openly sharing collection information. I’ll illustrate this with the case study of the Critter of the Week project, a collaboration between Radio NZ and the Department of Conservation that relies on the open image libraries of Auckland Museum and Landcare Research. There are simple institutional policies and procedures any museum can take that will support the work of the 70,000 volunteer Wikipedia editors. An institution can also directly host edit-a-thons and Wikipedia events, organise backstage tours for local Wikipedians, and host a Wikipedian in Residence. Subject specialists in a museum can even edit and update Wikipedia themselves, reaching a larger audience than almost any other science communication medium. In some ways, this is the opposite of how GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) institutions are used to working: collaborating with non-experts, releasing imperfect and unfinished content, abandoning branding opportunities, and no longer being the single voice of authority. But if we’re serious about being relevant to our public, we need to meet them where they are – which is on Wikipedia.

The development of Territorial Army (TA) since 1900 has raised question on the TA’s ability to help the permanent teams (MAF and MA) in defending the nation’s safety. TA is one of the security team sources of energy under the Total Defence concept introduced in 1986. However, with numerous issues faced, TA’s ability is questioned about the problems this organization are facing. The objectives of this writing are to see the problems faced by TA and the effects on MAF and MA’s abilities and readiness in defending the nation’s safety. Besides that, this writing also does an overall analysis on the problems faced by TA and the effects on MAF and MA’s abilities. This writing uses primary and official resources and strengthened with secondary information resources.

E-resources are revolutioning academic libraries. E-resources available via the Internet are increasing exponentially, leading to steady increase in the use of Internet for education and research. Since past few years, free online information sources like e-journals, e-books, e-databases have increased considerably. Earlier information and knowledge were passed by word of mouth or through manuscripts and communication was a slow process. Today it is passed from one individual to an infinite number of other users through a number of media and formats which makes rapid and widespread dissemination of information possible. The information seeking behaviour of the users are also changing due to availability of e-contents. This paper discusses searching behaviour of E-resources by research scholars of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi.

The increasing amount of online information demands effective, scalable, and accurate mechanisms to manage and search this information. Distributed semantic-enabled architectures, which enforce semantic web technologies for resource discovery, could satisfy these requirements. In this paper, a semantic-driven adaptive architecture is presented, which improves existing resource discovery processes. The P2P network is organised in a two-layered super-peer architecture. The network formation of super-peers is a conceptual representation of the network’s knowledge, shaped from the information provided by the nodes using collective intelligence methods. The authors focus on the creation of a dynamic hierarchical semantic-driven P2P topology using the network’s collective intelligence. The unmanageable amounts of data are transformed into a repository of semantic knowledge, transforming the network into an ontology of conceptually related entities of information collected from the resources located by peers. Appropriate experiments have been undertaken through a case study by simulating the proposed architecture and evaluating results.

In recent years, the number of web services grows explosively. With a large amount of information resources, it is difficult for users to quickly find the services they need. Thus, the design of an effective web service recommendation method has become the key factor to satisfy the requirements of users. However, traditional recommendation methods often tend to pay more attention to the accuracy of the results but ignore the diversity, which may lead to redundancy and overfitting, thus reducing the satisfaction of users. Considering these drawbacks, a novel method called DivMTID is proposed to improve the effectiveness by achieving accurate and diversified recommendations. First, we utilize users’ historical scores of web services to explore the users’ preferences. And we use the TF-IDF algorithm to calculate the weight vector of each web service. Second, we utilize cosine similarity to calculate the similarity between candidate web services and historical web services and we also forecast the ranking scores of candidate web services. At last, a diversification method is used to generate the top- K recommended list for users. And through a case study, we show that DivMTID is an effective, accurate, and diversified web service recommendation method.

The design of this study employed an approach of literature review. Data were collected primarily by means of the search for the key word ‘ eco-security’ on the Internet in order to analyze and classify the related studies. This study organized the works, relative to the type of landscape , published in Chinese and English online journals by researchers in Taiwan and Mainland China. This pilot study tried to broaden the ground of limited research on eco-security by searching for more related online information including ‘ecological security’, ‘ecosystem & security’, ‘ecosystem & risk assessment’ and ‘environmental monitor & early-warning’. Therefore, this study had two purposes. One was to understand the classification, number and trend of the related research on eco-security through literature review. The other was to analyze the content of the related research on eco-security. This involved understanding the theories, assessment approaches, assessment subjects, applied instruments and new possibilities of the future study in this field. Our data consisted of 233 studies published from 1988 to 2010. In terms of issues, data were divided into four parts: eco-security, landscape security patterns, ecosystem risk and environmental monitor &early-warning. In terms of subjects , data were differentiated into urban areas, rural areas, river basins and particular areas and un-designated ones. In terms of purposes, three types of data were distinguished: theories, applications and dynamics. Finally, semi-natural or artificial ecosystem becomes the focus and Data Mining Theory’s tools will be used generally for constructing the non-linear model of eco-security assessments
