Abstract Digital-age technologies promise to revolutionize the market for academic journals as they have other media. We model journals as intermediaries linking authors with readers in a two-sided market. We use the model to study the division of fees between authors and readers under various market structures, ranging from monopoly to free entry. The results help explain why print journals traditionally obtained most of their revenue from subscription fees. The results raise the possibility that digitization may lead to a proliferation of online journals targeting various author types. The paper contributes to the literature on two-sided markets in its analysis of free-entry equilibrium and modeling of product-quality certification.

The article analyzes different approaches to business management. The following approaches are selected: situational, functional, process and systemic. A detailed description of the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches to business management is provided. It has been found that each of the above approaches has practical application. Often, in the management of the enterprise in parallel apply two approaches. In recent decades, a process management approach was popular. The interest of practitioners was persistent in applying this approach, perhaps because the process-oriented approach is a prerequisite for the introduction of product quality certification. However, in recent times more and more attention is being drawn to the use of the system approach.

This study aims to present the ABET-CAC accreditation framework and discusses how to manage program’s constituencies of an academic program in higher education. It describes the program’s associated entities and the methods of creating required evidence for the program accreditation in computer science education. It follows a mixed method to evaluate and measure the program performance. It discusses the program’s performance measurement methods and its analysis. It emphasizes the program’s entities such as students learning outcomes, course assessment and performance evaluation. It shows a scientific approach that measures the program’s performance. It suggests the evidence should be considered as important indicators for both when planning the quality improvement for the program delivery and program’s benchmarking. For any program accreditation in computing education, the framework needs to be followed at least for two years to ease the program’s review process. This will help prepare competently for the accreditation, ahead of program’s review visit by the commission.
