AbstractAnalytical solitary wave solution of the dust ion acoustic waves (DIAWs) is studied in the framework of the damped Korteweg–de Vries–Burgers (DKdVB) equation in an unmagnetised collisional dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged dust grain, positively charged ions, q-nonextensive electrons, and neutral particles. Using Reductive Perturbation Technique, the DKdVB equation is obtained for DIAWs. The effects of different physical parameters such as dust ion collision frequency parameter (\({\nu_{id0}}\)), viscosity coefficient (η10), the entropic index (q), the speed of the travelling wave (M0), and the ratio between the unperturbed densities of the electrons and ions (μ) on the analytical solution of DIAWs are observed. The results of the present article may have applications in laboratory and space plasmas.

Analytical solitary wave solution of the dust ion acoustic waves (DIAWs) is studied in the frame-work of Korteweg-de Vries (KdV), damped force Korteweg-de Vries (DFKdV), damped force modified Korteweg-de Vries (DFMKdV) and damped forced Zakharov-Kuznetsov (DFZK) equations in an unmagnetized collisional dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged dust grain, positively charged ions, Maxwellian distributed electrons and neutral particles. Using reductive perturbation technique (RPT), the evolution equations are obtained for DIAWs.

AbstractAnalytical solitary wave solution of the dust ion acoustic (DIA) waves was studied in the framework of the damped forced Korteweg–de Vries (DFKdV) equation in superthermal collisional dusty plasmas. The reductive perturbation technique was applied to derive the DKdV equation. It is observed that both the rarefactive and compressive solitary wave solutions are possible for this plasma model. The effects of κ and the strength (f0) and frequency (ω) of the external periodic force were studied on the analytical solitary wave solution of the DIA waves. It is observed that the parameters κ, f0 and ω have significant effects on the structure of the damped forced DIA solitary waves. The results of this study may have relevance in laboratory plasmas as well as in space plasmas.

AbstractThe nonlinear properties of dust ion-acoustic (DIA) shock waves in a magnetorotating plasma consisting of inertial ions, nonextensive electrons and positrons, and immobile negatively charged dust are examined. The effects of dust charge fluctuations are not included in the present investigation, but the ion kinematic viscosity (collisions) is a source of dissipation, leading to the formation of stable shock structures. The Zakharov–Kuznetsov–Burgers (ZKB) equation is derived using the reductive perturbation technique, and from its solution the effects of different physical parameters, i.e. nonextensivity of electrons and positrons, kinematic viscosity, rotational frequency, and positron and dust concentrations, on the characteristics of shock waves are examined. It is observed that physical parameters play a very crucial role in the formation of DIA shocks. This study could be useful in understanding the electrostatic excitations in dusty plasmas in space (e.g. interstellar medium).

AbstractBifurcation analysis of small-amplitude nonlinear and supernonlinear periodic ion-acoustic waves (SNPIAWs) is reported in a three-constituent superthermal plasma composing of cold fluid ions and kappa-distributed electrons of two temperatures (cold and hot). Using the reductive perturbation technique, the plasma system is studied under the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and the modified KdV (mKdV) equations. Furthermore, the KdV and mKdV equations are transformed into planar dynamical systems applying travelling wave transfiguration. Possible qualitative phase profiles for the corresponding dynamical systems controlled by system parameters ($\kappa,{\alpha_{c}},{\alpha_{h}}$ and f) are shown. Small-amplitude SNPIAW solution for the mKdV equation is presented for the first time. Small-amplitude nonlinear periodic ion-acoustic wave (NPIAW) and ion-acoustic solitary wave solutions (IASWS) for both the KdV and mKdV equations are obtained. Effects of parameters κ and αh on IASW, NPIAW and SNPIAW solutions are investigated.

AbstractA quantum magnetohydrodynamic model is used to investigate the nonlinear propagation of dust ion-acoustic waves in a three-component quantum plasma composed of electrons, positively charged ions and immobile charged dust grains. Using the standard reductive perturbation technique, a Korteweg–de Vries equation is derived containing the quantum statistical and diffraction effects. There exists a critical value of the non-dimensional parameter H, proportional to the quantum diffraction, beyond which the bright soliton propagation is not possible with positive phase velocity. The effects of obliqueness, charged dust impurity and external magnetic field as well as the quantum mechanical effects are investigated numerically on the profiles of the amplitude and width of the solitary waves.

The formation of nonlinear ion-acoustic waves is studied in a degenerate magnetoplasma accounting for quantized and trapped electrons. Relying on the reductive perturbation technique, a three-dimensional Zakharov–Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived, admitting a solitary wave solution with modified amplitude and width parameters. The stability of the ZK equation is also discussed using the k-expansion method. Subsequently, numerical analyses are carried out for plasma parameters of a dense stellar system involving white dwarf stars. It has been observed that the quantized magnetic field parameter η and degeneracy of electrons (determined by small temperature values T) affect the amplitude and width of the electric potential. The critical point at which the nature of the solitary structure changes from compressive to rarefaction is evaluated. Importantly, the growth rate of the instability associated with a three-dimensional ZK equation depends on the plasma parameters, and higher values of η and T tend to stabilize the solitons in quantized degenerate plasmas. The results of the present study may hold significance to comprehend the properties of wave propagation and instability growth in stellar and laboratory dense plasmas.

We study the stability of positive radially symmetric solitary waves for a three dimensional generalisation of the Korteweg de Vries equation, which describes nonlinear ion-acoustic waves in a magnetised plasma, and for a generalisation in dimension two of the Benjamin–Bona–Mahony equation.
