The melting curves of high cesium content KF-CsF-AlF3 flux samples prepared by the wetting synthesis method were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and the effect of the flux compositions on the melting characteristics was analyzed and summarized. Existing phases of every representation sample was identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD), meanwhile, the morphology and chemical elements of the typical flux samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy spectrum analysis (EDS), respectively. The results indicated that solid phase decomposition first occurred in the common phase Cs2AlF5 for all the flux samples at 420°C; one of the decomposition products, Cs3AlF6 take the eutectic reaction with the Cs2KAlF6 at about 450°C; the flux samples containing phase CsAl2F7 or Cs2KAl3F12 have the e5 and e1 eutectic reaction at 471°C and 525°C, respectively, and their liquidus increased correspondingly. The liquidus for regionⅠflux samples is about 450°C and with a narrow melting range, which would make them good substrates for aluminum alloy middle temperature brazing.

Abstract. The relationship between whole-system metabolism estimates based on planktonic and benthic incubations (bare sediments and seagrass, Posidonia oceanica meadows), and CO2 fluxes across the air-sea interface were examined in the Bay of Palma (Mallorca, Spain) during two cruises in March and June 2002. Moreover, planktonic and benthic incubations were performed at monthly intervals from March 2001 to October 2002 in a seagrass vegetated area of the bay. From the annual study, results showed a contrast between the planktonic compartment, which was heterotrophic during most of the year, except for occasional bloom episodes, and the benthic compartment, which was slightly autotrophic. Whereas the seagrass community was autotrophic, the excess organic carbon production therein could only balance the excess respiration of the planktonic compartment in shallow waters (<10 m) relative to the maximum depth of the bay (55 m). This generated a horizontal gradient from autotrophic or balanced communities in the shallow, seagrass-covered areas of the bay, to strongly heterotrophic communities in deeper areas, consistent with the patterns of CO2 fields and fluxes across the bay observed during the two extensive cruises in 2002. Finally, dissolved inorganic carbon and oxygen budgets provided NEP estimates in fair agreement with those derived from direct metabolic estimates based on incubated samples over the Posidonia oceanica meadow.

Brazil is one of the largest global producers and exporters of ethanol and in 2017 launched RenovaBio, a programme aiming to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. In parallel to this domestic scenario, there is rapid growth in the world market of carbon production, as well as complex price relations between fossil and renewable energies becoming increasingly important in recent years. The present work aims to contribute to filling a gap in knowledge about the relationship between Brazilian ethanol and other relevant energy-related commodities. We use a recent methodology (Detrended Cross-Correlation Approach—DCCA—with sliding windows) to analyze dynamically the cross-correlation levels between Brazilian ethanol prices and carbon emissions, as well as other possible-related prices, namely: sugar, Brent oil, and natural gas prices, with a sample of daily prices between January 2010 and July 2020. Our results indicate that (i) in the whole period, Brazilian ethanol has significant correlations with sugar, moderate correlation with oil in the short term, and only a weak, short-term correlation with carbon emission prices; (ii) with a sliding windows approach, the strength of the correlation between ethanol and carbon emissions varies between weak and non-significant in the short term.
