The post-COVID-19 new normal will arise as a game-changer in the policy-making of the world states. Accordingly, this article highlights the post-pandemic Bangladesh that should integrate biology affirmatively in the policy development procedures to reshape the new normal challenges as opportunities. The grounded theory method is adopted as a quantitative analysis tool relying on the secondary sources of data to portray the significance of biopolitics as political rationality in new norm Bangladesh. The researcher has used the neo-realism approach to develop the ‘Biopolitical Rationale Theory’, which uncovers how evolving neo-realist security demands the prioritization of biopolitics in every sphere of decision making for governing the post-pandemic new standard of existence. The 2020 corona outbreak proved that human life and the environment are the ultimate means of survival rather than the traditional security arrangements and extreme economic growth which are inhumane (rationality of death and militarization), unhygienic, and destructive to the environment (exploitation of nature is profitable). The article recommends some alternative new normal policies such as non-discriminative health policy, bordering in line with International Health Regulations (IHR), digitalization with better cybersecurity, virtualization of the tourist industry (application of Extended Reality), application of Career Resilience (CR), and Strategic Flexibility Analysis tools in the re-employment and career development, greening the economy, special arrangements for emergency health crisis and undertaking actions considering the environment as a remedy rather than a crisis. The review research concludes that the inclusion of biopolitics in the Bangladesh governance system can redesign the challenges of new normal as new opportunities. But the reshaping of such a new reality will itself prevail as a considerable challenge for Bangladesh.

With all teaching and learning activities online and academic staff having to capacitate themselves in navigating the crisis of Covid 19, this article reflects on how the Sri Lankan universities dealt with pandemic scenario while exploring domestic experience over a period of one year commencing March 2020. A literature survey was carried out to gain an understanding of the existing debates surrounding the topic of challenges and opportunities availed in the crisis. 100 invitee academics representing each university participated in a questionnaire survey administered via Google forms and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in order to gauge the perception among the academics towards the discharge of the university functions and the opportunities exploitable under new normal context. Human Resource Management departments and Learning Management Systems have functioned well despite the crisis persisting so long. In addition, the respondents were satisfied with the data protection measures initiated to address any possible loss of data. A few respondents disagreed with the claim that utilizing IT services had functioned well and that the transition to digital teaching was accomplished without difficulties. There is a higher possibility to revisit and amend existing curriculums and teaching and learning methods, pursuit on course accreditation and validation with professional entities, preparing study packs, materials, toolkits, academic audit and appraisal, review on student feedbacks and making necessary pedagogical and other reforms as appropriate. Regardless of chronic issues such as digital inequality, universities have demonstrated that they can accomplish tasks and retain their legitimacy efficiently. This suggests that Covid 19 has been reasonably responded using adaptive management. All with aspirations to achieve professional excellence mediated by current events and its agility, the article offers some of the key challenges that inevitably emerged. The findings highlight that the Covid 19 has brought about a number of opportunities for which a greater reliance on collegial decision-making between academics and their counterparts, the students are crucial.

This paper focuses on exploring the different changing roles and leadership practices of the two Chinese private school leaders in basic education in the new normal with its challenges and opportunities. This case study approach was done through semi-structured interviews and supplemented with documents including e-mails, written reports, meeting notes, and other related documents used for triangulation to strengthen the credibility of outcomes. It also enables different interpretations and meanings to be included in the data analysis. The findings revealed that the two Chinese private school leaders have adapted the four leadership practices successfully in their respective institutions, as they went through the process of restructuring the teaching and learning in the new normal where challenges and opportunities were enormous. These four leadership practices were Situational Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Benchmarking Leadership, and Distributed Leadership that school leaders had to modify and adapt depending on the situations to accommodate an ever-changing environment during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The adaptability of different changing roles and leadership practices depending on its situations are the essential qualities of school leaders to rise above the circumstances and thrive in crisis during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract COVID-19 has forced community-dwelling older adults to rely on family members and care partners more than ever before for support. Often at the expense of their own health and well-being, family members and care partners help older adults manage physical and psychosocial needs, navigate a complex, ever-changing healthcare system, and follow public health guidelines. Given the increasing demands and poor outcomes, there is no better time than now to develop policies and practices that better recognize and support family members and care partners of older adults. To inform policy and practice development, this symposium will present findings from a literature review of peer-reviewed studies published from 2019 through 2021 that identifies and addresses challenges and opportunities related to caregiving for an older adult in a pandemic. The experiences of the past year demonstrate that the new normal needs to recognize and support family members and care partners.
