ABSTRACTComparative study of boron doped micro/nanocrystalline diamond (BDD/BDND) electrodes was performed using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements (EIS). The morphological and structural characterizations of BDD/BDND films were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and Raman scattering spectroscopy. The films were grown with different boron amounts added in the feed gas. The boron source for BDND was smaller in concentration than that for BDD sample. Nonetheless, differential capacitance (Mott-Schottky plots) and heterogeneous charge transfer constant results showed similar doping level for both electrodes. This behavior indicated the high efficiency to dope nanocrystalline diamond films.

Benzene oxidation at a boron-doped diamond anode in 0.5 M K2SO4aqueous solution is studied by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It is shown by measurements of differential capacitance and anodic current that in the ideal-polarizability potential region benzene either is not adsorbed at the diamond electrode or the benzene adsorption does not affect its capacitance. At more positive potentials, the adsorption of some intermediate of the benzene oxidation occurs at the electrode. The intermediate partially blocks the electrode surface and lowers the anodic current. The very fact of the electrode surface blocking is reflected in the complex-plane presentation of the impedance-potential plots.

Boron-doped micro-nanocrystalline diamond coating may be successfully prepared on Mo substrate with DC arc plasmas jet deposition device. Along with the increase of doped-boron concentration in the film, two-point resistance measurement indicates that film resistance presents exponential decrease; Raman spectrum test shows that, the characteristic peak value of diamond 1332cm-1 in the spectrum moves toward low frequency, the semi-height width of diamond peak, peak D and peak G, etc. in the spectrum is expanded, and the component of non-diamond bonds such as sp2, etc. in the film is increased; SEM and AFM observation shows that, increasing the doped-boron concentration could further subdivide the crystal grains in the film, and is beneficial for the growth of nano- or ultra-nano-crystalline diamond film; film annealing test shows that, micro-nanocrystalline diamond film with higher doped-boron concentration has better thermal stability than the micro-nanocrystalline diamond film without doped boron.

Abstract Alachlor (ALA) has been widely used in agriculture and may act as a carcinogen and an environmental estrogen. The present work deals with chemical modification of boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE) by guanosine monophosphate (GMP) and its study in the presence of ALA. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spektroscopy in the presence of the redox indicator 1 × 10-3 mol/L [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- together with differential pulse voltammetry of the nucleotide base were explored to test effects of GMP immobilization time, the pesticide concentrations and incubation time in the pesticide solution. It was found that GMP layer on the BDDE surface is distorted after incubation in the ALA solution.

Thickness is one of the most important parameters in many applications using thin layers. This article describes determination of the thickness of boron-doped nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) grown on fused silica glass. The spectroscopic measurement system has been used. A high refractive index (2.3 @ 550 nm) was achieved for NCD films. The thickness of the NCD samples has been determined from transmission spectrum. Full Text: PDF ReferencesZ. Li, S. Butun, K. ABSTRACTBoron-doped diamond has been deposited over a Mo substrate by microwave plasma CVD using methane and hydrogen. Boron doping of diamond has been achieved in situ by using a solid boron source while growing the diamond. Impedance spectroscopy of diamond in 0.5 M NaCl solution has been studied. We have observed two time constants at the diamond/solution interface. Solution resistance was found to be constant irrespective of the electrode in the same electrolyte. DC polarization techniques such as linear and Tafel polarization have been used to evaluate the doped diamond/Mo and Mo for corrosion resistance characteristics interms of charge-transfer coefficients and corrosion rate. Cyclic voltammetry has been used to evaluate the doped diamond/Mo to study the background current response and the redox kinetics of ferri/ferrocyanide in 0.5M NaCl solution.

In this investigation, conventional microcrystalline diamond (MCD) and boron doped diamond (BDD) films are deposited onto commercially available cemented tungsten carbide (WC-Co) Ball-nose endmills by using hot filament chemical vapour deposition (HFCVD). The quality and properties of the as-deposited diamond film are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Raman spectroscopy. Milling tests of graphite materials using MCD, BDD coated and uncoated tool are carried out. Experiment results reveal that BDD films possess higher adhesive strength to the substrate than that of MCD films, and the BDD coated mills allow to be given smaller flank wear and longer tool life, when compared with MCD coated and uncoated WC-Co tools. Cutting performances of WC-Co mills in graphite milling are greatly improved by BDD coating, and typically more than 10 times the tool life is obtained. The research results are of great significance for high efficiency and quality machining of graphite materials.
