This study was conducted to reveal the educational beliefs of prospective physical education and sports teachers, who receive education at the higher education level in Turkey, according to dependent and independent variables. Within this scope, the “Educational Belief Scale” was used to collect the data from 359 prospective teachers. The data collected from the sample were first analyzed by SPSS 22.0 package software. In the correlation analysis, it was observed that the “Educational Beliefs Scale” and the progressivism subscale were correlated very strongly and positively, which was the strongest correlation in the analysis (r = 0.918; p < 0.05). In the regression analysis, four different model structures were created, where it was determined that the subscale with the highest prediction power for the “Educational Beliefs Scale” was the progressivism subscale that predicted 84% of the variance of the “Educational Beliefs Scale” (R2 = 0.840). In conclusion, it was discovered that the prospective teachers did not internalize the fundamentalism, which is included in the traditional educational philosophy. Significant responsibilities fall on the shoulders of academics and decision-makers to enable prospective teachers to save the valuable sections of basic information and values of the past and transfer them to new generations while approaching teaching with a perspective that promotes the potential of new generations in building a better civilization upon the achievements of past generations.

Data collection was carried out using a google form which contains socio-demographic information and a healthy lifestyle belief scale. Cronbach’s Alpha and total item score analysis were used in the data analysis. Use Cronbach’s alpha to determine internal consistency of healthy lifestyle belief scales. The results showed that Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.968 and 16 items from the healthy lifestyle belief scale were normally distributed. The analysis showed 53% of the total variance. The healthy lifestyle belief scale for physical education students is a valid and reliable measurement tool and can be used as an instrument to develop relevant program interventions through physical education in schools and colleges.

This paper aimed to analyze the health beliefs of physical education and sports teachers regarding sportive recreational activities in the extent of their socio-demographic features. The study sample consisted of 286 (101 male & 185 female) physical education teachers. In the study to collect data, we used the “Health Belief Scale for Sportive Recreational Activities” scale. In analyze of the data, first, we calculated Cronbach’s Alpha, Skewness and Kurtosis values. Then we used One Way Anova and Independent samples t-test at 95% confidence level. We used Tukey’s HSD as second degree test. Analyze results showed that the participants had a high level of health belief regarding sportive recreational activities. Besides, there were significant differences in the variable health belief according to marital status, and believe in the ideas that sportive recreational activities are useful for mental and physical health as well as the treatment of chronic diseases. However, there was not any significant differences according to gender and number of weekly activities performed. As a conclusion present study showed that PE & sports teachers see sportive recreational activities as a preventive against diseases and better health.

Abstract: Recently, Duriez, Fontaine and Hutsebaut (2000) and Fontaine, Duriez, Luyten and Hutsebaut (2003) constructed the Post-Critical Belief Scale in order to measure the two religiosity dimensions along which Wulff (1991 , 1997 ) summarized the various possible approaches to religion: Exclusion vs. Inclusion of Transcendence and Literal vs. Symbolic. In the present article, the German version of this scale is presented. Results obtained in a heterogeneous German sample (N = 216) suggest that the internal structure of the German version fits the internal structure of the original Dutch version. Moreover, the observed relation between the Literal vs. Symbolic dimension and racism, which was in line with previous studies ( Duriez, in press ), supports the external validity of the German version.
