ABSTRACT Few studies have investigated the influence of "information capital," through IT-enabled dynamic capability, on corporate performance, particularly in economic turbulence. Our study investigates the causal relationship between performance perspectives of the balanced scorecard using partial least squares path modeling. Using data on 845 Brazilian companies, we conduct a quantitative empirical study of firms during an economic crisis and observe the following interesting results. Operational and analytical IT-enabled dynamic capability had positive effects on business process improvement and corporate performance. Results pertaining to mediation (endogenous variables) and moderation (control variables) clarify IT's role in and benefits for corporate performance.

This paper reports evidence of a direct relationship between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction as they are linked in the balanced scorecard. The objective was to propose a framework that shows the linkage between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction and to undertake some preliminary testing of this framework. An empirical study was undertaken in an airline business which investigated these relationships between employee and customer satisfaction and the correlations between these performance measures. The relationship between the key drivers of employee satisfaction and the key drivers of customer satisfaction was also investigated. The study provides empirical evidence supporting several linkages.

PurposeIn this paper, Supply Chain Quality Management dimensions are empirically tested in order to understand their impact on the organization performance based on the Balanced Scorecard perspectives.Design/methodology/approachIn order to validate the theoretical model proposed, an empirical study was carried out, supported by a large-scale questionnaire and statistical analysis.FindingsResults show that all the Supply Chain Quality Management dimensions have a significant positive correlation in the four Balanced Scorecard performance perspectives. Product/service quality and quality culture dimensions were the ones that presented the highest average scores. No significant differences were detected in any dimension for the different regions considered in this study.Originality/valueThe present research can help companies to achieve a better performance in the analyzed perspectives: customer, financial, internal process, and learning and growth. This work also contributes to the existing body of knowledge on Supply Chain Quality Management, analyzing its impact on organization performance, considering a more embracing perspective.

Organizational strategic programs are continuously evolving and gaining the attention of policy makers in order to construct organizations’ ecological and socioeconomic systems. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the balanced scorecard (BSC) and sustainable development involving the mediated effect of political and regulatory influence. To achieve the core objectives of the research, the quantitative (positivism) research method is applied. The goal of the current research is made possible through the quantitative method because of its objective nature of reality. A total of 320 questionnaires were distributed among the different levels of managers; 280 respondents returned the questionnaire. The data are analyzed through a modern statistical tool called Smart-PLS, Partial Least Squares (PLS) is high graphical user interference software that is used to calculate Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through PLS path modeling. Factor analysis is conducted to eliminate the variables that have no contribution and to reduce the variables to obtain better results in regression. The implications are for energy organizations that are struggling to deal with sustainable development and these tools can help them to achieve their sustainability goals. The study concludes that the adoption of BSC is essential to ensure sustainable development regardless of its challenges. Moreover, consideration of meta-constitutional rules as political influence is important to understand and address in order to mitigate financial loss. In nutshell, the use of BSC is highly recommended to eliminate the routine problems and to ensure environmental sustainability.
