Purpose This study aims to develop a conceptual framework that integrated insights from Shapero and Sokol (1982)’s model of entrepreneurial event, Bandura (1977)’s social learning theory and clinical psychology to empirically test and discover the underlying mechanism of how attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) symptoms can influence student entrepreneurial intention. Design/methodology/approach The study uses structural equation modeling with a sample of 2,218 students from 14 universities in Vietnam. Findings The research reveals that although ADHD symptoms are not found to have the direct role in shaping student perceived feasibility entrepreneurial intention, these psychiatric symptoms have more influences and significances in the growth of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and perceived desirability. Also, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and perceived desirability are found to be full mediators in ADHD symptoms and entrepreneurial intention linkage. Besides, both perceived desirability and perceived feasibility partially mediate the entrepreneurial self-efficacy effect on entrepreneurial intention. Practical implications The findings provide policymakers and universities with important insights into how to nurture intention to become entrepreneurs among college students, especially those individuals. Originality/value The present study offers a new insight about the linkage between ADHD symptoms and entrepreneurial intention. Also, the model of entrepreneurial event and the social learning theory are shown to be unifying theoretical construct of the relationship between psychiatric symptoms and entrepreneurial intention among Vietnamese students.

This study aims to explore effective ways to improve college students’ entrepreneurial self-efficacy and intentions through entrepreneurship education. The survey used a random sample of 804 college students in Zhejiang Province, China. The results show that: (1) In terms of the characteristics of entrepreneurial intention, there are significant differences in gender, entrepreneurial experience, entrepreneurial competition experience, and family background of self-employment. (2) There are significant differences in the characteristics of entrepreneurship education in gender, entrepreneurial competition experience, and the family background of self-employment. (3) In the relationship among entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurship education is significantly and positively related to entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy is significantly and positively associated with entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy plays a complete mediating role between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy also has a suppressing effect on the relationship between the two. (4) Entrepreneurial competition experience moderates the second half of the mediating effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Finally, the study offers several proposals for the teaching practice of entrepreneurship education.

Under the background of the high youth unemployment rate in the world, how to encourage college students to carry out entrepreneurial activities is the focus of the whole society. But even if government and college provide such a high-quality entrepreneurial platform for college students, the rate of youth entrepreneurship in the world is still relatively low. On the basis of the questionnaire of 385 college students concentrated in several colleges in Hubei Province of China, this paper used independent sample T test, single factor analysis method, multiple comparison test (LSD), correlation analysis, regression analysis and other empirical analysis methods to analyze the impact of entrepreneurial education as well as entrepreneurial policy on college students' entrepreneurial intention, and verified the intermediary role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The research conclusions mainly included: (1) Part of the control variables will affect entrepreneurial intention; (2) Entrepreneurial education, entrepreneurial policy positively and significantly affect the entrepreneurial intention of college students; (3) Entrepreneurship self-efficacy plays an intermediary role in the influence of entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial policy on entrepreneurial intention. According to the conclusion of the research, this paper put forward some suggestions for government, university as well as students, and tried to provide the gamut of support system of entrepreneurship, so as to stimulate the entrepreneurial intention of college graduates and improve the entrepreneurial rate.

This study aims to explore the entrepreneurial psychology of physical Education (PE) students under the “Internet+”environment, to cultivate and improve the entrepreneurial consciousness of PE students, taking the realization of students’ sense of self-efficacy as an intermediary factor. The new educational technology in modern PE is analyzed first. Specifically, the motion sensing technology based on human-computer natural interaction can be used for training, so that learners can effectively improve their physical skills. Subsequently, the current entrepreneurial situation of PE majors is discussed, with 188 students from Tianjin University of Sport and Guangzhou Sport University selected as research subjects. It is found that 62.2% of students have never been exposed to online entrepreneurship, and they are more afraid of entrepreneurial risks. In terms of entrepreneurial motivation, most students choose to start a business because of “personal ideals,” and only 40 people choose to start a business because of economic factors. There is a significant positive correlation between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention of college students majoring in PE, and the correlation coefficient is 0.488. At present, the teaching mode of sports universities focuses on the teaching of professional courses. However, students generally believe that the professional knowledge learned is not useful for future entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurial self-efficacy of college students tends to be positive, and there are notable differences in the entrepreneurial self-efficacy between boys and girls. The regression analysis of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention of college students shows that entrepreneurial self-efficacy can effectively predict entrepreneurial intention. This research promotes the innovation and development of the sports industry under the background of “Internet+”.

The Impact

The mechanism of how the COVID-19 global pandemic has affected the entrepreneurial intentions of college students remains unknown. To investigate the impact of the entrepreneurial environment on entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions in the post-pandemic era, 913 college students were invited to complete a questionnaire. The data were analyzed with structural equation models. The conclusions revealed by the questionnaire are as followed: college students have retained some entrepreneurial intention in the post-pandemic era; the factors influencing the entrepreneurial intention include sex, family entrepreneurial history, major, and education background; and entrepreneurial self-efficacy can play a major role to mediate the impact caused by the post-pandemic entrepreneurial environment on entrepreneurial intentions. The research conclusions provide important insights to improve college students’ entrepreneurial intentions in the post-pandemic environment.
