PurposeWomen empowerment becomes an important policy discussion in development economics and modernization theory. The empowerment of women can lead to an increase in the quality viz-a-viz the capacity of human resources accessible for economic development. The purpose of this study is to evidence the impact of social and economic dimensions on women empowerment through financial inclusion in rural India.Design/methodology/approachTo reveal the research objective, the study has utilized a primary survey of women respondents from the Gujarat state of India by a simple random sampling method and applied a logistic regression approach to identify the relationship between the need of a bank account (determinant of financial inclusion) as a dependent variable and social and economic dimensions of women empowerment such as earning status, participation in financial decision-making, recipient of social welfare schemes and perception towards the safety of saving as independent variables.FindingsThe results of this study show that earning status, participation in financial decision-making at household level and recipient of social welfare schemes by women have a significant impact on women empowerment through financial inclusion; however, safety of their savings is observed as an insignificant variable, yet the odd value is very high (2.437) in the present study.Originality/valueThe present study is the first of its kind to examine the social and economic status of women and its impact on their requirement of a formal bank account for the overall empowerment of women in rural India.

Use of herbal medicaments for dental pain is a practice still followed in some parts of rural India. Most often these herbal medicines are readily available to the rural without the prescription from an authorized practitioner. Eucalyptus oil is one such herbal drug which is widely used for a number of ailments. An unusual and a rare case of chemical injury secondary to the use of eucalyptus oil has been presented here. We have also described the management of the injury with herbal medication. This case report tends to highlights the dangers of self medication and also stresses on the role of herbal medications in dentistry. The role of Women entrepreneur in economic development is also being recognized and steps are being taken to promote women entrepreneurship. Women entrepreneurship must be molded properly with entrepreneurial traits and skills to meet the changes in trends, challenges global markets and also be competent enough to sustain and strive for excellence in the entrepreneurial arena. The study is about analyzing the entrepreneurship of women in Coimbatore city. The main objective is to investigate pull and push factors for women in entering entrepreneurship and to find out what kind of motivations women have as well as what barriers they need to faced. For this purpose primary data will be collected from 150 respondents who are residing at Coimbatore and it is concluded that women in Coimbatore city have higher interest towards starting a new business and this has to be taken in to consideration by the government towards women empowerment.

Abstrak. peran pemberdayaan wanita nelayan sangat di perlukan untuk membantu ekonomi keluarga. Wanita-wanita di daerah pesisir bisa menjadi motor penggerak kegiatan ekonomi produktif fungsinya dari ibu rumah tangga biasa menjadi pencari nafkah seperti melakukan kegiatan pengolahan ikan dan lain sebagainya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk kegiatan keluarga nelayan di Gampong Langkak Kecamatan Kuala Pesisir Kabupaten Nagan Raya dalam  meningkatkan ekonomi keluarga , dan rencana strategi perempuan  nelayan dalam meningkatkan  ekonomi keluarga di Gampong Langkak Kecamatan Kuala Pesisir Kabupaten Nagan Raya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dan analisis SWOT. Hasil dalam penelitian ini didapat strategi wo sebagai rencana strategi pemberdayaan wanita nelayan. Srategi wo yaitu memanfaatkan peluang yang ada dengan cara meminimalkan  kelemahan yang ada. Adapun bentuk kegiatan keluarga adalah bertani, jemur udang  sabu dan buruh pabrik.Kata kunci: pemberdayaan, keluarga , nelayan.Strategy Of Fishermen Women Empowerment In Increasing Famili Economy In Langkak  Village Kuala Pesisir  Districts Nagan Raya DistrictAbstract. the role of empowering women fishermen is very much needed to help the family economy. Women in coastal areas can be the driving force of productive economic activities whose function is from ordinary housewives to being breadwinners such as fish processing activities and so on. This study aims to determine the form of fishermen's family activities in Gampong Langkak, Kuala Pesisir Subdistrict, Nagan Raya District in improving the family's economy, and the strategy of women fishermen in improving the family's economy in Ganggong Langkak, Kuala Pesisir District, Nagan Raya District. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach and SWOT analysis. The results in this study obtained the WO strategy as a plan to empower women fishermen strategies. The strategy is to take advantage of existing opportunities by minimizing existing weaknesses. The form of family activities is farming, drying shabu shrimp and factory workers.Keywords : empowerment, family, fishermen.
