The article defines the essence of strategic logistics and logistics strategy, systematizes the characteristics of economic and logistics systems, substantiates the scheme of development of corporate strategy of logistics system, identifies strategies for managing the supply of logistics systems, defines the mechanism of strategic planning in the field of supply. It is established that the strategies of vertical integration in the process of interaction with suppliers are based on the acquisition of suppliers' business in order to enter new markets and develop new areas of activity. Strategies of strategic partnership are to develop strategic forms of interaction with suppliers of goods and services (outsourcing, strategic alliances, alliances, etc.) in order to minimize the overall costs of the logistics system and the highest quality satisfaction of end users. Cost minimization strategies are based on procurement management from the standpoint of minimizing the cost of purchasing goods, ie here the main point when choosing a source of supply is the lowest price with the most complete range of related services. Logistics, in our opinion, in modern society is a means of achieving strategic goals of enterprises through the coordination of flow processes and cross-functional integration. In turn, many scientists divide logistics into two main types: basic and innovative. The most important component of innovation logistics is strategic, which is the science and practice of building the logistics potential of various flow control systems by developing long-term programs of innovative transformations within the outlined paradigm of their strategic development. In the case of implementation of supply strategies, the goals of the logistics strategy will be achieved by solving a set of tasks to strengthen cross-functional and inter-organizational integration and (or) coordination by: introduction of a logistics information system, without which it is impossible to implement strategies of the supply process; cost optimization at all stages of the promotion of flow processes; raising the levels of customer service quality indicators.

Subject area E-Business; Corporate Strategy; Strategic Management; Operation Management. Study level/applicability Senior undergraduate; MBA; EMBA. Case overview After development for 10 years, JD was now China’s second largest business-to-customer (B2C) e-retailer and the largest in self-operated sector. It was September 2015 when Liu Qiangdong was deciding whether to persist with JD’s self-operated model and the heavy investment in the self-built logistics system. JD’s business model had been functioning well. However, as JD grew bigger and bigger, it became too expensive to expand its logistics system. JD had not made a profit since it raised funds from investors. Liu had to come up with a good proposal before the next monthly meeting to convince them that JD would finally overtake its biggest rival, Alibaba which ran on a different business model. In addition, JD was exploiting the rural and the global markets, as well as a new business in internet finance. Facing challenges and dilemmas, should JD persist with its model? How could Liu align short-term profitability with long-run development? How could JD overcome attacks from Alibaba and other competitors? Expected learning outcomes This case is appropriate for courses in e-business and strategy, particularly those with a strong focus on doing e-business in emerging markets (e.g. China). After studying the case, students should be able to: understand the e-commerce market in China; understand business models and key strategies of e-retailers; identify and analyse the pros and cons of the self-operated business model and self-built logistics system in e-commerce; learn how to evaluate performance, strategies and business models of e-commerce companies; and extract key trends in the market and compare different strategies. The article considers the main approaches to the development and evaluation of the organization’s logistics strategy based on the application of bifurcation theory. The paper notes that the greatest competitive advantages in the process of carrying out activities can be obtained by the company when designing a unique logistics strategy based on the individual features of the organization’s logistics system. The authors reveal that the bifurcation theory allows you to determine the conditionality of a qualitative dynamic change in the behavior of a logistics system by an infinitesimal change in certain parameters of the system. As part of the assessment of the organization’s logistics management strategy, bifurcation theory forms the basis for determining shift in the qualitative parameter of the system and makes it possible to assess the effect of this parameter on the behavior of the entire system as a whole and each functional subsystem separately. The study reflects that it is possible to determine the critical values of individual variables, when overcoming which the logistics system itself goes into unstable state. The main concept defining the process of critical transition of the state of the logistic system is the bifurcation point.

Efficient sales logistics is the foundation of sustainability of enterprises in the real economy. This is due to the fact that it is the closing link in the logistics system, production of goods and provides a choice of distribution channels and their participants. The choice of distribution channels, first of all, involves the determination of markets for the products manufactured by the enterprise. Due to the need to ensure the effectiveness of this choice of taking into account a large number of various factors, the solution to this problem involves the use of formalized models and techniques. The article proposes a model and methodology that provides a reasonable choice of markets for the products of an enterprise in the real sector of the economy at the initial stage of forming its marketing logistics strategy. The model is based on a formal apparatus of statistical conclusions based on nonparametric statistics. This made it possible to take into account the inherent uncertainty of the source information inherent in the considered selection problem. The proposed model may be useful for digitalization in the field of logistics management of enterprises in the real sector of the economy.

In today’s society with a globalized economy, countries around the world are pursuing efficiency while also pursuing environmentally sustainable development. Therefore, studying green coal logistics for environmental development and optimization is of great significance and practical value. On the basis of the green concept framework of coal logistics, this paper will determine the five main problems in the operation of green coal logistics and then propose seven improvement strategies to these five main problems by using TRIZ theory. Interpretative structural modeling (ISM) is used to establish a systematic development procedure of green coal logistics strategy to examine the development of green coal logistics. The analysis results of ISM indicate that, when developing green coal logistics, coal enterprises should retain the effective operation of the original operating mechanism. At the same time, enterprises should introduce a green coal logistics system and effectively merge the two to establish a simple and effective logistics system operating mechanism and cultivate employees’ awareness of environmental protection. Doing so will establish a green image of coal enterprises and decrease the cost of green logistics of coal enterprises. Next, each department within the coal enterprise should be refined. To enable various departments within the coal enterprise to improve work efficiency through information sharing and exchange, the operation process of each department needs to be standardized and the source and the scope of information of each department must be clarified. Finally, through the production, storage, sharing, and transfer of knowledge of information, coal enterprise employees can be assisted to effectively carry out green awareness popularization courses so they can acquire, produce, store, share, and transfer the knowledge of green coal logistics to enable coal enterprises and employees to understand the relationship between the development of green coal logistics and environmental protection.
