I was born in Moscow in 1863 at the turn of 2 eras. I still remember the remnants of serfdom, tallow candles, kerosene lamps, tarantases, dormitories, relay races, flintlock guns, small cannons that looked like toys. Before my eyes, railways with courier trains, steamships were emerging in Russia, electric searchlights, automobiles, airplanes, dreadnoughts, submarines, telephones wire, wireless, radio telegraphs, 12-inch guns were created. Thus, from a tallow candle to an electric searchlight, from a tarantass to an airplane, from a sailing boat to a submarine, from a gun to Berthe's cannon, and from serfdom to Bolshevism and communism "(Stanislavsky" My Life in Art ").

In his On Medical Experience, Galen notes a central aporia in Democritus' thought: insofar as sensory qualities are held to be merely conventional and without reality, they offer no sure path for the derivation of the theory of atoms and void that ostensibly explains the emergence of these very qualities. This is not necessarily a flaw in Democritus' thought; rather it reflects the movement of dissemblance that the atomist depicts as integral to perception and thinking writ large. The theory of atoms and void cannot ground itself, but rather emerges as a kind of mockery, the semblance of theory passing for a theory of semblances. It is perhaps worthy only of the laughter that one ascribes to Democritus, and yet this laughter is itself a figure for the nonsensical convulsions of atoms transgressing the void.

A set of towing tank tests was undertaken on a 1:4-model-scale high-performance small sailing boat, which was a candidate for the 2016 Olympic games. The resistance, sink and trim were measured and uncertainty analysis was completed. The boat was tested for different longitudinal positions of the crew in displacement, transition and fully planning regimes. The resistance measurements in the towing tank were well correlated with established empirical formulations developed for planning hulls. It was found that at low Froude numbers, forward crew positions allow lower resistance and resistance increases significantly for after crew positions, while at higher Froude numbers after positions allow lower resistance, and the resistance is less sensible to the crew position. These findings are in agreement with sailor experience and with measurements performed by other authors on large vessels.

The family physician is occasionally called into consultation when one of his patients, a hitherto respected citizen, becomes arrested for a sexual offence. In such circumstances the relatives, friends or legal advisers of the accused are often prompted to raise a defence of insanity, mental disorder or defect in answer to the charge. On examination the physician may find such evidence. If not he may regard the patient as being psycho-pathological, but unless he has devoted time to the consideration of the subject, and is also well acquainted with insanity, amentia and border-line states in his daily work, he may not feel sufficient confidence in his general knowledge and medical experience to face with equanimity the prospect of a severe cross-examination in the witness-box on an admittedly difficult and controversial subject. I know the family physician may, in such cases, feel embarrassed, and I propose to attempt to bring before you certain matters for consideration which it seems well to bear in mind when inquiring into the mental condition of persons accused of sexual crime, and which I suggest throw some light upon actions that otherwise appear unusually obscure.

The aim of the study is to assess the severity of occupational stress among the nursing staff of the polyclinic of the SBHI SMKC FMBA of Russia. Results. The assessment of the level and nature, strength and frequency of professional stress of nurses of the polyclinic was carried out, typical and subjectively significant causes of stress in the professional activities of specialists were identified. Conclusion. Coping strategies for coping with stress by nursing staff have been determined. As a result of the work done, it was found that occupational stress among the nursing staff of the polyclinic is a significant problem and needs to be taken appropriate measures. It was found that the development of stress is influenced by such factors as medical experience and the specifics of work. This problem seems to be very relevant in connection with the direct influence of stress on health, mental stability and professionalism of nurses. The focus of the problem of professional stress is the correspondence or inconsistency of the potential capabilities of the professional and the social conditions of his activities.
