We investigated the functional state of the kidneys in 20 patients with bronchiectasis, 13 with bronchial asthma and 7 with lung abscesses. Zimnitsky's test was normal in 12 patients, isogppostenuria and nocturia were found in 9, and nocturia in 19. Fonno's test was carried out in 31 patients. In 18 it turned out to be normal, in 13 patients a violation of the excretory function was revealed. Albuminuria was observed in 8, microhematuria - in 4, urobilinuria - in 17. The level of residual nitrogen was normal in 39 and increased in one patient.

Regarding the widely distribution of respiratory exposure hazards in occupational settings, workers have an increased risk for chronic lung diseases. For assessing the quality of life and lung function in workers exposed to chemicals and dust, St George�s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and spirometry were performed among 40 patients, admitted in Occupational Clinic Department of Colentina Hospital, Bucharest, Romania, during February, 2017. SGRQ showed different predictors for patients according to their occupational exposure and total symptoms score correlated better with decreased spirometric parameters in defining lung function deterioration. Quality of life is earlier affected than lung function deterioration and emphasises the need of more sensitive methods for an earlier identification and better evaluation of respiratory hazards in different workplaces.

Cross-linked hemoglobin (XL-Hb) infused into dogs increases mean arterial pressure (MAP) but decreases blood flow to the renal (RBF), mesenteric (MBF), and iliac (IBF) circulations. These actions differ markedly from dextran infusion (which increases RBF, MBF, and IBF without altering MAP) and may be due to scavenging of nitric oxide by XL-Hb. However, because the hormonal milieu regulating regional circulation is altered during hemorrhage (when XL-Hb may be used), we studied whether systemic hemodynamics, RBF, MBF, IBF, and renal excretory function in hemorrhaged dogs was altered when resuscitated with XL-Hb compared with dextran ( n = 6 each). Hemorrhage decreased MAP by 25% due to a 75% decline in cardiac output. RBF, MBF, and IBF all fell by 33, 64, and 72%, respectively ( P < 0.05 each). There was also a fall in glomerular filtration rate (GFR), urinary flow, and sodium excretion ( P < 0.05 each). After resuscitation, MAP, cardiac output, RBF, MBF, IBF, and GFR all recovered to basal values with either XL-Hb or dextran. Urinary flow and sodium excretion increased to above basal levels with dextran (both by 3.5-fold; P < 0.05) or XL-Hb (by 7.5- and 10-fold, respectively; P < 0.05). We conclude that resuscitation with XL-Hb after hemorrhage not only increases MAP, but also restores RBF, MBF, IBF, GFR, and urinary sodium and volume excretion analogously to dextran. The results contrast with those in normal dogs and suggest that nitric oxide inhibition does not impair hemodynamic and renal function recovery during hemorrhage.

OBJECTIVE: To study the various spirometry ndings and look for its association with smoking history and use of biomass fuels. METHODS: Spirometry ndings of 375 patients who attend Respiratory medicine OPD from year 2017- 2019 were studied. RESULTS: Out of 375 patients, 95 patients were diagnosed as COPD, 62 as bronchial asthma, 149 had normal spirometry and 69 had restriction. CONCLUSION: In this study we concluded that spirometry plays an intergral role in the diagnosis of bronchial asthma, COPD and restrictive lung diseases. It gives an overview of the decline of lung function with increasing age, smokers, occupational lung exposures, family history of bronchial asthma. Restrictive patterns were most commonly seen in patients who came for pre operative evaluation.

Aim. We aimed to estimate the composition and the detection frequency of bacterial species in induced sputum samples from patients with bronchial asthma (BA), chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and its combined phenotype (ACOS). Materials and methods. Bacteriological examination of samples of induced sputum in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (BA, COPD) was carried out. Results. Patients with asthma-COPD overlap syndrome exhibit more diverse bacterial species composition as represented both by gram-positive Streptococcus sрp., Staphylococcus spр., gram-negative Klebsiella pneumoniaе, Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, Burkholderia cepacia and rodlike bacterium Corynebacterium spр., Actinomyces spр. и Tsukamurella рaurometabola as compared to patients with only one diagnosis of COPD or asthma. In addition, we revealed the differences between microbiological diversity and predominance of Streptococcus spр, Neisseria subflava with decrease of Enterococcus sрр. in samples from patients with complicated forms of obstructive lung diseases as COPD and ACOS, with pulmonary emphysema and/or pneumosclerosis. Conclusion. The biodiversity of lung microbiome could be one of the pathology risk factors in patients with chronic lung diseases, on the other hand reflecting the structural morphological changes in the lung tissue as a result of sustainable inflammation.
