Hodgkin lymphoma is a malignant disease with clonal proliferation of B-cells and high-level reactive inflammatory microenvironment. The main clinical sings are lymphadenopathy and toxic symptoms. Neurological symptoms as usual can be a result of compression or tumor infiltration of nervous structures. The primary damage of CNS occurs from 0,2% to 0,5% of all cases HL. Paraneoplastic neurological syndrome is a group of rare (an average 1 case on 10000 patients) neurological disorders against the background of oncological process. The pathophysiologic mechanism is due to production of antibody which is both to tumor cells and nerve cells. These antibodies are called onconeural autoantibodies. The hallmark which make diagnostics harder is the fact that onconeural autoantibodies rare take place in patients with lymphomas unless anti-Tr and anti-mGluR1 in patients with limbic encephalitis or paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration. Abstract Introduction Primary lymphoma of the colon is exceedingly rare and comprises 0.2–1% of all colon tumors. The most common subtype of lymphoma in the colon is non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Symptoms are often nonspecific, and treatment varies between chemotherapy alone and a combination of surgery and chemotherapy. Case presentation We describe a case of a Ashkenazi Jew patient who presented in the typical way that carcinoma of the colon might present but turned out to have a very rare type of tumor in both its histology and its location. Conclusion There was apparent discordance between the relative bulkiness and gross appearance of the tumor with the unrevealing result of the biopsies, demanding a high level of suspicion as to the actual presence and possible type of such a tumor in the future.

We provide an overview of the varied presentations of paraneoplastic neurological syndromes. We also review the onconeural antibodies and their particular oncological and neurological associations. Recognition of these syndromes and their oncological associations is crucial, as early diagnosis and management has been associated with better patient outcomes. Specific management strategies and prognosis vary widely depending on the underlying etiology. An understanding of the relevant clinical details, imaging findings, and other diagnostic information can help tailor treatment approaches. We provide an outline of the diagnostic evaluation and treatment of various paraneoplastic neurological disorders, presenting with central and/or peripheral nervous system involvement. We briefly discuss neurologic immune checkpoint inhibitor-related adverse events, which can occasionally present with paraneoplastic neurological syndrome phenotypes.

Ortho-Phthalaldehyde (OPA) has been approved for high-level sterilization of heat-sensitive medical instruments and is increasingly being used as a replacement in the healthcare industry for glutaraldehyde, a known sensitizer. Numerous case reports have been published indicating workers and patients experiencing respiratory problems, anaphylaxis, skin reactivity, and systemic antibody production. Our laboratory previously demonstrated that OPA is a dermal sensitizer in mice. The goal of the present study was to determine if OPA is a respiratory sensitizer following inhalation exposure. Mice were exposed to OPA vapor and airway and lymph nodes were examined for cytokine gene expression and alterations in lymphocyte populations. Inhalation of OPA for 3 days resulted in a concentration-dependent increase in lymphocyte proliferation, mainly B lymphocytes, in the draining lymph nodes. A secondary challenge of mice with OPA resulted in a dramatic increase in the population of B lymphocytes expressing IgE. Expression of Th2 (IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13) and anti/proinflammatory (IL-10, TNFα, and IL-1β) cytokine genes was upregulated in the lymph nodes and the nasal mucosa. Mice exposed to the higher concentrations of OPA-produced OPA-specific IgG1 antibodies indicating systemic sensitization. These findings provide evidence that OPA has the potential to cause respiratory sensitization in mice.

Equine alphaherpesviruses ― causative agents of rhinopneumonitis−viral abortion (EHV-1) and rhinopneumonitis (EHV-4) ― represent the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae, genus Varicellovirus. EHV-1 causes abortion, respiratory pathology, and neurological disorders in horses of different ages. EHV-4 causes predominantly respiratory disease in foals and sporadic abortions in mares. In the etiopathogenesis of herpesvirus infections EHV-1 and EHV-4, the determining factors are pronounced tropism to epithelial cells, persistence in a non-replicative form, and unpredictable reactivation of a persistent virus with its release into the environment. EHV-1 and EHV-4 have similar antigenic determinants and cross-react in serological reactions. The high level of antigenic relationship between EHV-1 and EHV-4 can make it difficult to interpret serologic results in natural infections. The EHV-1 and EHV-4 strains in active circulation are genetically rather conservative. The exception is the new EHV-1 strains with a mutation in the gene encoding viral DNA polymerase, which caused outbreaks of neuroparalytic disease in some European countries and the United States. In several cases, the neurological syndrome has been reported due to use of some commercial vaccines
