The paper recalls ideas on the human wellbeing developments, already outlined by the Authors (Chap. 17, M.M. Cruz-Cunha, Ed., Social, Managerial & Organizational Dimensions of Enterprise Information Systems, IDEA Group Inc., Hershey, 2009, pp. 329-351, ISBN 978-1-60566-856-7). The cognitive revolution is condition of growth sustainability, requiring new social, political and management paradigms rather different from the extant Western Style ones, and, quite amazingly, more related to the regular culture and ethics ideas, which typify the Eastern Style world. The analyses list peculiarities in opposition between the two styles, such as holism and complexity instead of logic and reductionism, or fairness and conformity instead of rivalry and individualism. The pickings are examined in relation to the robot age technologies, deemed fundamental for the cognitive revolution to come, and to the cultural and ethics backdrop of a global village, aimed at safer running, because of altruism uniformity.

This paper establishes an enterprise information system configuration management model based on graph theory. Comb all nodes support enterprise information systems for the application system, host, operating system, middleware, database, applications, a database instance, network devices, storage devices, virtual host, virtual platform,11 kinds of configuration items. And sort out the relationships between them to no effect, no effect of virtual relationship, positive impact, positive impact of virtual relationships, reverse impact, reverse impact of virtual relations,6 kinds of relationships. All configurations supporting enterprise information systems and the relationships of them is seen as a weighted digraph. Then the weighted digraph is represented as an edge weight matrix. The edge weight matrix of a particular application system configuration relationships graph is solved according to the edge weight matrix of global configuration relationships graph, Help Operations staff clearly identify the composition of the information systems. The edge weight matrix of the impact of a change on a configuration item is solved according to the edge weight matrix of global configuration relationships graph. Provides a valuable reference views to operations staff when they repair a configuration.

Although a large portion of the literature explains various supports by top management to enhance the overall success of the implementation of enterprise information systems, there remain some limitations in studies pertaining to how the characteristics of top management can have an influence on successful acquisition. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of top management characteristics on the overall success of enterprise information systems. It aims to offer an in-depth understanding of the necessary characteristics through a cross-case analysis approach based on two contradictory government organizations in Saudi Arabia—one with successful implementation and the other with a failed enterprise resource planning system. The results expose various characteristics such as those related to business leadership and abilities and technological cognition and awareness. The results can be developed into a strategy to enhance awareness as well as top management participation.
