Through the literature review, interviews, case studies, classroom observation and questionnaires, this paper summarizes the present situations of translation teaching in China, studies the design of translation exercises in the teaching of E-C/C-E Translation at the undergraduate level, analyzes the relationship between written translation teaching and learning, finds out more effective translation exercises and teaching methods for both students and teachers, in order to enhance students’ interest in translating by themselves, improve their translation ability and level, and cultivate more professional translators for China.

The present study attempts to identify the difficulties of teaching and learning geology in Moroccan secondary qualifying classes. Teachers of the Life Sciences and Earth Sciences and their pupils at the Inzegane Ait Melloul delegation were administered questionnaires. Based on the analysis of the themes taught and the typologies of obstacles evoked, a bibliographic synthesis allowed us to list the notions which are likely to pose the difficulties presumed in geology. Thus, 23 open and closed questions were distributed to seven teachers. Also, ten questions were distributed to students. The results showed that both pupils and teachers experience several difficulties in the teaching and learning of geology. Thus, the various means of continuing education in geology which are made available to teachers were disqualified. It involves only a minority of them. This is in addition to the complexity of the geological content and the insufficiency of its hourly volume. The excessive number of pupils causes the classes to be overloaded, in which the weak prerequisite is added in the geology of these pupils. The difficulties of learning geology are largely related to the relationship that this discipline maintains with space and long time. This, therefore, make it difficult for pupils to understand several complex geological phenomena. The ineffectiveness of teaching methods tailored to the classroom by teachers, the absence, failure or lack of mobilization of teaching and ICT resources, inadequacy or absence of field trips, and the manipulations and negligence of scientific modeling in majority of the classes surveyed influences the learning of geology as well as the students' interest in these courses. This makes it a boring and unwelcome matter for most students.

“Students as Partners” (SaP) in higher education re-envisions students and staff as active collaborators in teaching and learning. Understanding what research on partnership communicates across the literature is timely and relevant as more staff and students come to embrace SaP. Through a systematic literature review of empirical research, we explored the question: How are SaP practices in higher education presented in the academic literature? Trends across results provide insights into four themes: the importance of reciprocity in partnership; the need to make space in the literature for sharing the (equal) realities of partnership; a focus on partnership activities that are small scale, at the undergraduate level, extracurricular, and focused on teaching and learning enhancement; and the need to move toward inclusive, partnered learning communities in higher education. We highlight nine implications for future research and practice.

This article aims to highlight the importance of applied linguistics (AL) knowledge in the continuous construction of pedagogical practices involving language teaching and learning and, through the relationship between teaching methods and approaches, and the research development in AL, to show how the teacher’s role has changed, from the beginning of LA to what has been called today the Post-method – Prabhu (1990), Kumaravadivelu (1994, 2001) and Celani (2009). In this scenario, it is the teacher who determines – or should determine – which method/approach will be most profitable, based on the investigation of its context and not a priori. It is hoped that this work will contribute to the additional language teacher’s reflection on their classroom practices – why, what for, how and what to teach –, to transform them, to educate themselves critically-reflexively and to become, in fact, a teacher-researcher.

This study compares teaching and learning in German and Chinese vocational education and training (VET) schools. The adoption of teaching methods and instructional media are used as two descriptive dimensions. Relevant data on these factors were collected through systematic classroom observation. Generally, both similarities and differences can be noted between German and Chinese VET schools. The results concerning adoption of teaching methods and instructional media are discussed in the context of two factors: teacher education; and curriculum.

Flipped learning is known to be an approach where learners take part in the learning process in a different way than in the non-flipped classroom and that in both they may deepen their knowledge and develop various competencies such as problem-solving and collaboration. Paying attention to the characteristics of flipped learning, the purpose of this study is to propose practical guidelines for the use of the flipped classroom by exploring the teaching and learning processes involved. Through a literature review, the 3 P model of teaching and learning was applied, and grit, professor support for fostering autonomy, learning engagement and perceived achievement were selected as variables for the process involved in learning via the flipped mode. In order to investigate the relationship between these variables, 121 students in a flipped classroom were surveyed. Data were analyzed by path analysis. The results showed that the support provided by the professor in terms of helping students to develop autonomy significantly predicted perceived achievement. Learning engagement mediated the relationship between grit and perceived achievement, and between the support given by the professor in terms of helping students to develop autonomy and perceived achievement. Based on the results, the specific strategies to enhance learners’ grit, their autonomy and learning engagement are discussed for the successful flipped classroom.

The rise of e-commerce has brought considerable changes to the relationship between firms and consumers, especially within international business. Hence, understanding the use of such means for entering foreign markets has become critical for companies. However, the research on this issue is new and so it is important to evaluate what has been studied in the past. In this study, we conduct a systematic review of e-commerce and internationalisation studies to explicate how firms use e-commerce to enter new markets and to export. The studies are classified by theories and methods used in the literature. Moreover, we draw upon the internationalisation decision process (antecedents-modalities-consequences) to propose an integrative framework for understanding the role of e-commerce in internationalisation
