<p class="Abstract">Autonomous production control (APC) is able to deal with challenges, inter alia, high delivery accuracy, shorter planning horizons, increasing product and process complexity, and frequent changes. However, several state-of-the-art approaches do not consider maintenance factors contributing to operational and tactical decisions in production planning and control. The incomprehensiveness of the decision models and related decision support tools cause inefficiency in production planning and thus lead to a low acceptance in the manufacturing enterprises. To overcome this challenge, this paper presents a conceptual cost-based model for integrating different maintenance strategies in autonomous production control. The model provides relevant decision aspects and a cost function for different maintenance strategies using on a market-based approach. The present work thus makes a positive contribution to cope with the high demands on flexibility and response times in planning while at the same time ensuring high plant productivity.</p>

&nbsp; Sudden and unsystematic changes, such as fluctuations in order flow, machine failures, or employee sick days affect the Production Planning and Control (PPC) activities of industrial companies. Trends like globalization and increased market pressure intensify these problems. To master the complexity of decision-making in production control, tools of the digital factory (e.g. simulation systems) or IT systems (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)) are applied in manufacturing. Combining these areas would enable real-time capable data exchange which, in turn, provides real-time capable decision support. This article presents an approach for solving this problem.

Abstract The theoretical aim of the paper is to analyses the main function and concept of production control in operation management. The empirical aim of the paper is to investigate polish production firm opinion about factors affecting production planning and control and also functions of production planning and control. Production control is very important in every factory, and every aspect of operation and production management especially in times of Industry 4.0 conditions. In the paper we presented all classical seven task of production management control. Also there is in the paper an analysis of main factors affecting production control in industrial organization. In the paper we analysed the problems connected with production control. Nowadays in the conditions of Industry 4.0 this is very important concept because the increasing level of digitalization of all industrial processes leads to possibility of detailed analysis of all processes and better level of control. Operation managers should have good level of knowledge about production control and especially quality control. They can use in this many new information tools like statistical methods and artificial intelligence. Especially we think that in the future many function of production control would be assisted by artificial intelligence. We also in the paper give results of research conducted on example of 30 polish production organizations located in Silesia region.

&nbsp; Due to rising energy costs and a growing awareness for sustainable production, it is now necessary for companies to establish targets for energy consumption in production planning and control. Therefore, this article illustrates a method for energy-oriented production control on the basis of flexibility and load management which synchronizes the energy demand in manufacturing with a limited energy supply.

Global competition and changing customer requirements are putting major challenges in the production planning and control systems of manufacturing enterprises. Production planning and control requires robust methods able to cope with demand variability, processing times variability, routing sequences, resource availability, etc., between other sources of variation. Production planning and control significantly influences target performance criteria such as the delivery time, on-time delivery, work-in-process inventory, and resources utilization. Therefore, production planning and control is strategically important for the economic success of these enterprises and innovative production planning and control methods are required. This chapter describes how workload control, a leading production planning and control system for small- and medium-sized enterprises, operates and illustrates how it aids in shortening and stabilising throughput times based on a simulation study of a small made-to-order production system.

The strategic objective of this study is to empirically have an objective grasp of production planning and control complementarity architecture of five selected manufacturing firms and relevant areas of cost control. The paper empirically explores some facets of production planning and processing analysis in different machines and periods; production divisions and types, scheduling and sequencing of production planning. Capacity planning levels including potential capacity, immediate capacity and effective capacity were strategically discussed. Aspects of production control architecture such as dispatching and functions of the dispatcher were also evaluated. Other related areas of production control examined include: expediting (follow-up) and progressing, and the activities in these production and control elements were objectively handled. The study arrived at the fact that, production planning and control functions complement each other in their functionality. Effective scheduling and sequencing are revealed to be a panacea that help the handling of time, space constraints and associated cost elements in production operations management. It is therefore recommended that, production and control operations functions should complement, and be jealously guided in manufacturing operations. <p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0770/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

Production Planning and Production Control systems are some of the keys that determine the development of modern production systems. The article presents the importance of a flexibility factor in the process of manufacturing, planning, and control systems development during the 20th century. Finally, actual problems and trends in the production system design and control over the design were perceived in addition to possible feasible directions of the development of manufacturing systems, probably in the 21st century were specified. Production planning and production control are usually painstaking to be one of the most noteworthy issues in the planning and operation of a manufacturing structure. A better planning system has a significant bang on cost reduction, increased productivity, customer satisfaction, and overall spirited improvement for a product. Also, the current customer demand for prominent diversity products has put into an increase in product complications that further lay emphasis on necessitates for superior planning. Proficient planning leads to the amplification in capability exploitation competence and, therefore, thereby reducing the operational time required to intact jobs and accordingly escalating the profitability of an organization in the current spirited environment. There are different systems of manufacturing, planning, and control for a job-shop together with flow-shop in which the jobs are to be a progression through a series of machines for an optimizing number of required performance measures

This chapter aims to propose an improvement in decision making in the planning sector and production control (PPC) with application of a mathematical model. In the methodology, the qualitative approach was used because the linguistic codifications are interpreted and characterized by a case study applying a questionnaire to the managers of the company of the metal mechanic sector. In this context, six constructs were structured as a proposal for performance improvement, being composed of costs, management, inspection, processes, and capacity. The chapter reports the main results achieved during fuzzy sets application, obtaining a better result compared to FAHP in which there were certain oscillations between the percentage of constructs. The construct prioritized by managers and specialists was the cost construct, reaching 38.60%, being advantageous for the industry when the cost is placed in order of manufacture (subconstruct), followed by the prioritized management construct with 28.50%.

The growing need for efficiency and effectiveness in production systems management has increased the importance of processes and activities related to Production Planning and Control (PPC). Several authors point out that the more dynamic, competitive market, with higher demands from consumers and the increasing insertion of technology to support decision making, make the need for robust management processes imperative. In line with this scenario, the present work aims to present the report of a process of implementation, use and the consequences of a production pointing system. To achieve the proposed objective, a literature review was conducted on the topics of interest and a case study in a company that manufactures hospital medical products in the interior of São Paulo state. As main results, it was observed that the adoption and evolution of a production pointing system generated significant gains for the company's Production Control and increased maturity in terms of Production Management, but required significant efforts and investments to maintain and evolve the production deploying process.
