The reaction of [Benzoyl hydrazine] with [Diphenyl mono oxime] and Glacial acetic acid was carried out in methanol gave a new tridentate ligand [Benzoic acid (2-hydroxyimino- 1, 2-diphyneylethylidene) - hydrazide]. This ligand was reacted with some metal ions (Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II)) in methanol with (1:1) metal : ligand ratio to give a series of new complexes of the general formula [M(L)Cl2.H2O], where M= Fe(11), Co(11), Ni(11) and Cu(11). All compounds were characterized by spectroscopic methods (I.R, UV-Vis), elemental microanalysis (C.H.N), atomic absorption, magnetic susceptibility, and conductivity measurements. From the obtained data the proposed molecular structures were suggested for the complexes of Fe (II), Co (II), Ni (II) and Cu (II) are of geometric octahedral.

The ligand, 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-stearoylpyrazol-5-one (HSPy), and its La(III) and W(VI) complexes were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically using elemental analysis, UV-visible, IR, 1H and 13C NMR. Physical properties such as colour, melting points, conductivity measurements and solubility profile were also investigated. La(III) and W(VI) reacted with the ligand in the metal-ligand mole ratios of 1:3 and 1:2 to form neutral complexes of diaquo-trischelate La(SPy)3.2H2O and dioxoaquo-bischelate, WO2(SPy)2.H2O respectively.

A new ligand [N-(4-nitrobenzoylamino)-thioxomethyl] phenylalanine is synthesized by reaction of 4-nitrobenzoyl isothiocyanate with phenylalanine (1:1). It is characterized by micro elemental analysis (C.H.N.S.), FT-IR, (UV-Vis) and 1H and 13CNMR spectra. Some metals ions complexes of this ligand were prepared and characterized by FT-IR, UV-Visible spectra, conductivity measurements, magnetic susceptibility and atomic absorption. From results obtained, the following formula [M(NBA)2] where M2+ = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pd, Cd and Hg, the proposed molecular structure for these complexes as tetrahedral geometry, except copper and palladium complexes are have square planer geometry.

New metal complexes of some transition metal ions Co(II), Cu(II) , Cd(II) and Zn(II) were prepared by their reaction with previously prepared ligands HLI= (P-methyl anilino) phenyl acetonitrile and HLII = (P-methyl anilino) –P– chloro phenyl acetonitrile . The two ligands were prepared by Strecker’s procedure which includ the reaction of p- toluidine with benzaldehyde and P- chlorobenzaldehyde respectively. Structures were proposed depending on atomic absorption , i.r. and u.v.visible spectra in addition to magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity measurements.

This work includes preparation of the new ligand 5- (1-benzoimidazol-2-ylamino)-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole-2-thiol (BIATT) by the reaction of 5-Amino-2-thio-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole with 2-mercaptobenzoimidazole by refluxin 1, 4-dioxane as solvent. The metal complexes of the ligand were prepared with metals chlorides of Co (II), Ni (II), Cu (II), Zn (II) and Cd (II) in ethanol as solvent. The ligand (L) and its metal complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis (C.H.N.),IR,1H-NMR and UV- Vis. spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements ,molar conductivity, melting points and atomic absorption. The metal-ligand ratio was determined by mole ratio method. The suggested structures for the Co (II), Ni (II) and Cu (II) complexes are octahedral geometry andfor the Zn (II) and Cd (II) complex are tetrahedral geometry.

Enaminone, (2E)-1-[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) phenyl]-4-methylpent-2-en-1-one (II) was synthesized by refluxing 1-[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) phenyl] ethan-1-one (I) with dimethylforamide dimethylacetal (DMF–DMA) under solvent-free condition for 12 hours. Finally, the dihydropyrimidinone derivatives containing imidazole moiety (1–15) were obtained by reacting enaminone, (2E)-1-[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) phenyl]-4-methylpent-2-en-1-one (II) with urea and different substituted benzaldehydes in the presence of glacial acetic acid. Dihydropyrimidinone derivatives containing imidazole moiety were synthesized in excellent yield by means of a simple and efficient method. All the compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis. The structures of all the compounds were confirmed by modern spectroscopic methods.

A new ligand [4-Methoxy -N-(pyrimidine-2-ylcarbamothioyl) benzamide] (MPB) was synthesized by reactioniofi(4-Methoxyibenzoyliisothiocyanate)withi(2-aminopyri-midine). The Ligand was characterized by elemental micro analysis (C.H.N.S),(FT-IR) (UV- Vis) and (1Hi,13CNMR)spectra. Some transition metals complexes of this ligand were prepared and characterized by (FT-IR, UV-Vis) spectra conductivity measurements magnetic susceptibility and atomic absorption. From the obtained results the molecular formula of all complexes was suggested to be [M(MPB)2Cl2] (M+2i=Cu, Mn, Co ,Ni ,Zn ,Cd and Hg),the proposed geometrical structure for all complexes was an octahedral.

In this paper, some chalcone derivatives (C1, C2) were synthesized based on the reaction of equal amount of substituted acetophenone and substituted banzaldehyde in basic medium. Oxazine and thiazine derivatives were prepared from the reaction of chalcones (C1-C2) with urea and thiourea respectively in a basic medium. Pyrazole derivatives were prepared based on the reaction of chalcones with hydrazine mono hydrate or phenyl hydrazine in the presence of glacial acetic acid as a catalyst. The new synthesized compounds were identified using various physical techniques like1 H-NMR and FT-IR spectra.

Complex of cobalt(II) with sulfisoxazole (slfs) has been synthesized in 1 : 4 mole ratio of metal to ligands in methanol, the complex formula is [Co(slfs)3(H2O)3]SO4.nH2O. The electric conductivity of the complex in methanol correspond to 1:1 electrolyte. The thermal analysis indicates that complex contain some hydrates. Magnetic Susceptibility measurements show that the complex is paramagnetic with µeff = 4,60(9) BM. Infra red spectra indicates that the primary N-H group coordinated to the center ion, it is signed by a shift of primary N-H group absorption. UV-Vis spectrum appears one peak at λ= 515,5 nm (19.342 cm-1) due to transition peak of 4T1g (F) → 4T2g (P) (ν3) overlay to transition peak of 4T1g(F) → 4A2g(F) (ν2). The value of 10 Dq (Δo) that corresponds to transition 4T1g → 4T2g (n1) is 95,29 kJ.mol-1. Cyclic voltammograms have revealed quasi reversible. The complex probably is octahedral.   Keywords: cobalt(II), sulfisoxazole, complex, paramagnetic, octahedral
