LEARNING APPROACHES IN RELATION TO ICT (INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY) COMPETENCES IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

The aim of this paper is to describe the results of a research that took place in order to examine the opinion and impact of Information and Communication Technology to undergraduate students of University of Macedonia. The research was conducted with two main purposes. The first purpose is to investigate how familiar are the students of international and political studies with the use of ICTs on and off campus. The second purpose of the research is to examine the possible relationship between the use of ICTs and the gender and the students performance (marks) at the Introduction to Computers module that is part of their programme of studies. The results revealed that male students are more favourable toward ICT usage and the students that scored high at the module Introduction to Computers were more likely to find that the use of ICTs help them at their studies with various ways. The university academic and administrative personnel is highly recommended to find ways in order the students to be motivated and maintain positive students attitudes to use ICTs. Thus, the students will find it very helpful during their studying or even a supplement to other teaching activities.

Survey Questionnaires

The purpose of this study was to study undergraduate students' acceptance and use of ICT in classrooms. A total of 361 students from four universities participated in the study. Survey questionnaires which comprised both closed-ended and open-ended questions were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, repeated-measures of Analysis of variance and multiple regression were used to analyze the findings. The study revealed that students use technology for personal purposes rather than for instructional purposes. Despite, students' high acceptance of technology, their technology integration into learning has remained low. The analysis showed that students believing that technology can improve their relationship with other students significantly contributed to their acceptance of technology in schools. Understanding students' acceptance and their experiences of technology use offer insights into their integration of technology into learning.

Students can learn through printed teaching materials, audio and video programs, weblogs, and or other media based on ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Yet, educators still play an essenstial role in designing every learning activity. This research aims to produce a prototype of the product development of accessible IT teaching materials for Special Education undergarduate program students. This research applied the ADDEM design model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Deliver, Evaluate, and Maintenance). Results were gathered by examining the feasibility on aspectts of efficacy and practicality of the develped product. Data were analyzed quantitatively by looking at the results of the validity and practicality test. The results of the validity test from the validators showed that all of the assesment items got a good rating of 3.0, in contrast the results of the practicality test, which was done by undergraduate students showed that there was an improvement on the score of the end-of-term test compared to the score of the mid-term test. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat belajar pada saat pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi khususnya siswa kelas X SMK ditinjau dari minat internal,minat eksternal, dan pendekatan belajar. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas X Program Keahlian Teknik Komputer dan Jaringan di SMK Negeri 3 Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif, sedangkan metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket modifikasi skala likert. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahawa pertama, pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi sudah dilaksanakan tetapi terdapat kendala yaitu guru mengajar hanya sebatas teori. Kedua, sebagian besar siswa memiliki minat belajar dengan kategori sedang dalam pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Dengan demikian, minat belajar pada pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi perlu ditingkatkan lagi. Ketiga peningkatan minat belajar pada pembelajaran teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dapat dilakukan dengan memadukan model pembelajaran yang sesuai sehingga siswa dapat menguasai materi baik teori ataupun praktik.INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY LEARNING REVIEWED FROM INTEREST TO LEARNThis study was aimed at determining the interest in learning information and communication technology of grade X vocational students in terms of internal interests, external interests, and learning approaches. The subjects in this study were 30 students of class X Computer and Network Engineering Skills Program at Vocational High School 3 of Yogyakarta. The research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while the method used to collect the data in this study was using a Likert scale modified questionnaire. The findings show that first, learning information and communication technology has been implemented but the teacher teaches only focus on the theory. Second, most students have an interest in learning with the moderate category in learning information and communication technology. Thus, interest in learning in learning information and communication technology needs to be increased. Third, increasing interest in learning in learning information and communication technology can be done by combining appropriate learning models so that students are able to master learning material both theory and practice.
