ABSTRACT Accounting educators strive to prepare graduates for work in their chosen field. Various teaching methods can be employed to best accomplish this goal. One valuable tool is the use of active learning tasks that simulate external work environments. This paper describes the collaboration between an AIS and an Auditing professor who used an integrative task that spanned their two classes over two semesters. The authors had their AIS students complete Arens and Ward's Systems Understanding Aid (SUA) project (Arens & Ward, 2008). The following semester, students in the auditing class audited the records and financials that had been generated by students the previous semester. The project was designed to facilitate course integration and teamwork by having groups of students play the role of corporate accountants, then act as independent auditors.

The main purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of Traditional Learning (TL) and Laptop-Based Active Learning (LAL) in the achievement of accounting students’ competence. This study is quantitative methods approach comprising of a systematic literature review, data analysis, and experimental studies on the two classes applying a different learning approach. Class A with 40 students applied the LAL approach, while class B with 38 students applied the TL approach. Students in the two classes received different treatments, but the question items tested were the same. This study also uses the independent samples t-test to analyze the hypotheses from the two data groups, both those using TL and LAL learning types. Overall, this study demonstrates that the accounting students’ learning achievement is higher when the class uses LAL approach instead of TL approach and that the LAL approach is better than the TL approach, especially on the Descriptive Statistics for Business course at Accounting Department, Islamic University of Indonesia.

Objective: Investigate the accounting students’ perception on the use of a web-based student response system (SRS), called Kahoot!, in a public higher education institution in Brazil. The web-based SRS is a relatively recent technology tool that can contribute to provide an active learning environment. Background: The paper reviews the SRS literature and highlights its usage benefits and challenges. Also, the study presents empirical studies carried on SRS thus far that offered theoretical support for the discussion of the findings. Method: Data were collected from 77 students through survey. The survey was designed based on prior SRS literature, containing two parts. The first one asked for the students’ demographics; and the second one comprised 22 questions to capture two constructs: “Perception of Use” (18 questions) and “Overall Satisfaction” (6 questions). Surveys were applied in loco. Results: The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient indicated high internal consistency among the items that measured both constructs. We also found that the SRS assists in classroom interactivity, promote greater involvement, and was adequate as a didactic tool. Students also thought that the SRS may have the potential to improve their learning and were generally satisfied with it. Contribution: The study contributes to teaching methods in accounting education by bringing evidence of efficacy of a web-based SRS from accounting students’ perspective. It also shows promising results when using SRS in accounting classes, especially when interactivity and active learning are considered educational goals.

Juvenile delinquency is a phenomenon caused by many causes, and one of them is the lack of religion comprehension and its application in daily life. One way to instill a good religion comprehension in childhood is through an active learning approach, where students learn and play, and in this case using IDO Box: Islamic Dolanan. Active learning method is quite complex so that an effective approach and appropriate environment is needed, especially in a pandemic condition. The aim of this research are to know the appropriate media in implementing IDO Box and increasing the student's religion comprehension. This research was done in Taman Pendidikan Al Quran (TPA) Anugrah, Bojongsari, Depok City, West Java. Learning media that was used in this research are learning modules, website, learning videos, and webinars that were done online. Primary data was obtained by online interviews and questionnaires. IDO Box was implemented using The House Model that was created by Horovitz and Ohlsson-Corboz (2007). The House Model concept is divided into three parts that is vision mission purpose (roof), program indicators and milestones (middle), and IDO Box program and media (cornerstone). Overall the IDObox program consisted of 10 main indicators that has been completed 100% through the activities, i.e. Quran memorizing test, Islamic stories, online assignments, online quizzes, webinars, and also parents and teachers satisfaction survey. This accomplishment is supported by pretest, posttest, and learning improvement evaluation in terms of cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and learning outcomes.
