Abstract Herein we report the synthesis of Ag doped MnWO4 material carried out by facile hydrothermal method and its catalytic property towards glucose molecules. The Ag-MnWO4 material is characterized by XRD, SEM and EDX respectively. The morphology of the synthesized material is nanorod like structure and the nanorods are converged with each other constructing microflower structure. The microflowers are uniform and sparsely distributed in all direction. The fabricated Ag-MnWO4 electrode performs huge sensitivity of 17.9 µAµM− 1cm− 2 in the linear range 5-110 µM with response time 8 s. Further, excellent selectivity and acceptable stability of the material are achieved. It is predicted that Ag-MnWO4 material would be a good glucose catalytic material for sensing applications.

To explore micro-or nanoscintillator with a controllable architecture, a novel facile hydrothermal method easy for commercial run was used to synthesize pure and Ce doped β-NaLuF4 microcrystals at 453K. The morphology of uniform hexagonal prism with 3.3μm in diameter and 1.4 μm in thickness, respectively, is presented by the results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns show the products are both pure hexagonal phase. Different from the undoped product without any irradiation, the Ce doped product has given strong broad band emission attributed to 5d4f transition of Ce3+, which can be potentially used as scintillator for biomedical imaging and detectors for high energy such as X-ray and γray. This synthetical strategy extends the understanding about nanomaterial chemistry and can be also useful for other systems such as fluorides, oxides and sulfides.

High quality hydroxyapatite (HAP) nanorods have been synthesized at 180 °C by a facile hydrothermal method using calcium chloride and diammonium hydrogen phosphate as precursors in the absence of any surfactants. The diameters and lengths of HAP nanorods are in the range of 40-80 nm and 0.2-2.0 μm respectively. The sizes and morphologies of HAP nanorods can be controlled by adjusting the synthetic parameters, such as reaction temperatures, and types of surfactants. A possible mechanism was also proposed to explain the growth of the HAP nanorods.
