(1) Background: Both employees and organizations benefit from a work environment characterized by work engagement and job satisfaction. This study examines the influence of work-group social capital on individuals’ work engagement, job satisfaction, and job crafting. In addition, the mediating effect of job crafting between social capital on the one side and job satisfaction and work engagement on the other side was analyzed. (2) Methods: This study used data from 250 health-care employees in Sweden who had completed a questionnaire at two time points (six to eight months apart). Analyses of separate cross-lagged panel designs were conducted using structural regression modeling with manifest variables. (3) Results: Social capital was predictive of both job satisfaction and work engagement over time. The results also indicated that higher degrees of social capital was predictive of more cognitive and relational, but not task-related job crafting over time. There was no clear evidence for a mediating effect of job crafting for social capital to work engagement or job satisfaction. (4) Conclusion: It would be beneficial for the health-care sector to consider setting up the organizations to promote social capital within work groups. Individual workers would gain in well-being and the organization is likely to gain in efficiency and lower turnover rates.

Employees’ change-oriented behavior is known to be critical in promoting organizational changes for a sustainable organization. However, few studies have explored how this behavior can be potentially promoted by job-crafting and work engagement. This study examined the relationship between job-crafting and change-oriented behaviors (adaptive and proactive behaviors), as well as the mediating effect of work engagement. Hypotheses were tested with a structural equation modeling analysis. A total of 459 employees in the Korean automobile manufacturing industry participated in the study. The results show that job-crafting had a positive effect on adaptive behaviors and proactive behaviors. Moreover, seeking job resources and seeking job challenges promoted change-oriented behaviors through work engagement. Based on these results, practical implications are suggested for the development of a sustainable organization.

The purpose of this research was to analyze and examine the effect of job crafting on work engagement through the psychological meaningfulness of employees at PT. Boma Bisma Indra (Persero) Surabaya. This research is causality research with a quantitative approach. The number of samples was 55 employees. Statistical analysis using Partial Least Square with SmartPLS 3.0. The results of the study explained that job crafting has a positive and significant influence on work engagement through psychological meaningfulness as a mediator. In addition, the mediating effect also has a better effect than the direct effect.

Abstract. This research redefined the job demands–resources (JD-R) job crafting model ( Tims & Bakker, 2010 ) to resolve theoretical and empirical inconsistencies regarding the crafting of job demands and developed a German version of the Job Crafting Scale (JCS; Tims, Bakker, & Derks, 2012 ) in two separate studies (total N = 512). In Study 1 the German version of the JCS was developed and tested for its factor structure, reliability, and construct validity. Study 2 dealt with the validity of our redefined JD-R job crafting model. The results show that, like the original version, the German version comprises four job crafting types, and the German version of the JCS is a valid and reliable generic measure that can be used for future research with German-speaking samples. Evidence for the redefined JD-R job crafting model was based on findings relating job crafting to work engagement and emotional exhaustion.

We used empowerment theory and job design theory to build a mediated moderation model to examine the relationship between empowering leadership and the turnover intention of industrial workers. Participants were 272 industrial workers in Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Results show that empowering leadership significantly reduced participants' turnover intention and that job crafting exerted a partial mediating effect on the negative correlation between empowering leadership and turnover intention. Participants' proactive personality positively moderated the effect of empowering leadership on their turnover intention, and part of the moderating effect was transmitted via job crafting. Our results have theoretical implications for related research and practical implications for human resource management practices in the manufacturing industry.
