Increasing evidence shows that punitive discipline is ineffective and detrimental. Using empowerment theory and the opportunity-to-learn conceptual framework, this literature review seeks to broaden school personnel’s knowledge of alternative discipline interventions. Searching ERIC and JSTOR databases, we looked for English language, North American literature published between 1996 and 2016 that discussed alternative individual and school-wide disciplinary approaches. The literature we found indicates that punitive measures are counter-productive; that several alternative disciplinary models share common principles; and that studies point to favourable outcomes of some alternative school discipline models. While the transition towards alternative discipline may require additional resources and years of adjustment, a healthier school climate can foster the empowerment and academic achievement of marginalized students.

 The problems in this study are the number of housewives who have free time and still have a fairly low income level and the lack of knowledge and skills of housewives in processing seafood without realizing that this potential can be a business opportunity that can increase family income. The purpose of this study was to describe the process of empowering housewives through making kupang nuggets in Karang Gading village. The empowerment theory used is Mustafa Kamil (2007). Training is a process of empowerment and learning carried out by individuals (community members) in learning something in order to improve abilities, skills, and behavior in work and daily life in supporting their economy (income). This theory explains that empowerment is a process of providing knowledge and skills to the community with the aim of improving the quality of life which is expected if these skills are realized will increase family income. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Data collection tools used are observation sheets, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results and discussion of the research explained that the training process for making kupang nuggets was divided into three stages, namely the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. Materials on packaging and marketing of kupang nuggets were also delivered in the training.  Keywords: Empowerment; Kupang Nugget Making Training

With the advancement in AI and related technologies, we are witnessing more remarkable use of intelligent vehicles. Intelligent vehicles use smart automatic features that make travel happier, safer, and efficient. However, not many studies examine their adoption or the influence of intelligent vehicles on user behavior. In this study, we specifically examine how intelligent vehicles’ sensing and acting abilities drive their adoption from the lens of psychological empowerment theory. We identify three dimensions of users’ perceived empowerment (perceived cognitive empowerment, perceived emotional empowerment, and perceived behavioral empowerment). Based on this theory, we argue that product features (sensing and acting in intelligent vehicles) empower users to use the product. Our proposed model is validated by an online survey of 312 car owners who are familiar with driving conditions, the results of this study reveal that driver’s perceived empowerment is vital for using automatic features of intelligent vehicles. Theoretically, this study combines the concept of empowerment with the intelligent-driving scenario and reasonably explains the mechanism of the intelligence of vehicles on users’ behavior intention.

Subak is a traditional organization in the field of agriculture and irrigation of rice fields in indigenous peoples in Bali that is socioeconomic, religious, economical that historically continues to grow and develop and has been awarded World Cultural Heritage status by UNESCO on June 29, 2012. However, along with the development of the times, the conversion of agricultural land functions are increasing which results in agricultural land continues to decrease and the existence of Subak is increasingly threatened. This research uses the foundation of Empowerment Theory according to Totok Mardikanto. The research method used is qualitative research with descriptive method. Data collection techniques used in this study are by observation, interview, and documentation. While data analysis used in processing the data obtained is by data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.  The observations showed that the empowerment process for Krama Subak has been running well but there are still obstacles that cause conversion of agricultural land function to continue to occur, such as the resources of heterogeneous farmers, farmers not owners of agricultural land, and farmers who are still tempted by rising land prices. Efforts made in addressing this is by holding the Hita Lalu Program, improving the intensification of subak administrators as well as the preparation of the Regulation on Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B). Student assignment moderation and written feedback are integral to tertiary education, supporting student learning and providing a means of ensuring equity in grading. The processes of moderation and feedback provision have, however, been associated with a number of negative outcomes including confusion, disengagement, and reduced self-confidence. Improvements to moderation processes must be reviewed to facilitate continued student engagement and learning. Embedded within empowerment theory, this pilot study aimed to explore the feasibility of involving students in the moderation process and to determine whether students benefit from participating in the moderation process. A multiple method approach was undertaken to understand the perspectives of students on the moderation process. Six undergraduate occupational therapy students participated in the moderation of a written essay with tutors and participated in a focus group. Three themes relating to their experiences emerged: 1) student empowerment, 2) transparency and increased understanding of the moderation process, and 3) understanding the assessor mindset. Combined results suggest that inclusion of students in the moderation process is feasible within a tertiary education context, with this study acting as a pilot for the inclusion of students in these processes.

AbstractThis research seeks to improve our understanding of how intrinsic motivation is instantiated. Three motivation theories, flow theory, self-determination theory, and empowerment theory, have informed our understanding of the foundations of intrinsic motivation at work. Taken jointly, they suggest six causal factors for intrinsic motivation: (1) perceived competence, (2) perceived challenge, (3) perceived autonomy, (4) perceived impact, (5) perceived social relatedness, and (6) perceived meaningfulness. Integrating different theoretical perspectives, I employ a case-based configurational approach and conduct coincidence analyses on survey data from a German public utility to analyse the nuanced interplay of these six causal factors for intrinsic motivation. My data show that high perceived meaningfulness or high perceived autonomy is sufficient for high perceived intrinsic motivation and at least one of the two conditions must be present. Further, my findings reveal a common cause structure in which perceived impact is not a causal factor for intrinsic motivation but an additional outcome factor. Subsequent analyses shed light on possible roles of the remaining proposed causal factors by drawing a tentative causal chain structure. The results of this study enhance our understanding of the causal complexity underlying the formation of intrinsic motivation.

The Smart Entrepreneur Program is an innovation program from PT. TASPEN (Civil Servant Insurance Savings) is a solution to declining mental and physical health problems and economic problems experienced by retirees when entering retirement. It is because retired State Civil Apparatus (ASN) do not have proper preparation before retiring. Therefore, this program focuses on empowering retired (ASN) so that retirees are more empowered and prosperous and can reduce the possibility of problems when entering retirement. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. In data analysis, researchers used data analysis techniques, according to Creswell. The theory used in this study is the Empowerment theory of Ginanjar Kartasasmita. The research results indicate that the empowerment of ASN through the smart entrepreneurship program conducted by PT. TASPEN  Malang is compatible with the concept of empowerment. In its implementation, three indicators of empowerment are applied: enabling creating conditions that allow for the development of potential retirees, empowering to strengthen the potential of retirees by conducting socialization and training, and finally protecting provided by PT. TASPEN Malang to participants in the smart entrepreneurial program as a form of guarantee given to retirees.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between tourism policy, gender, and purusa culture in the provision of local labor and female gender, review gender-based tourism policies, compare theories such as the rule of law, welfare state theory, human rights theory, democratic theory. economics, and tourism empowerment theory. Also adopted the Boley & McGehee Population Empowerment model through the Tourism Scale (RETS). The method used in this study is normative juridical research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results of the systematic interpretive analysis show that the absorption of female labor is expressed as a product of structural and cultural forces, and domestic conditions around women's roles, therefore a combination of material and discursive analysis is needed to examine the socio-cultural relations of tourism policy production, the response to the absence of equality. gender in the middle of purusa culture. Workforce competency certificates that comply with the ACCSTP (ASEAN Common Competency Standards for Tourism Professionals) criteria are a preventive alternative for women to be able to target jobs in the public sector and the readiness of countries as ASEAN member countries.

Empowerment is a core construct in health behavior and an emerging trend in pediatrics. Although it has been suggested as an approach that may promote the person’s participation in health care decisions and positive outcomes, little is known about the nature and effectiveness of interventions to support empowerment in families and preschool-age children. The aim of this review is to identify, appraise, and synthesize the evidence on health interventions explicitly using empowerment as an orienting concept with families and their preschool-age children. We identified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) through systematic searches of eight databases for articles published between 1986 and January 2019 and included RCTs that addressed empowerment as a health intervention approach or outcome and that studied families with 3- to 5-year-old children. The application of empowerment theory, the family and child involvement, and the use of behavior change techniques (BCTs) were assessed through appropriate frameworks. Ten interventions were identified, and 50% of them showed positive outcomes. Most studies claimed a theoretical base. However, the studies provided limited details on theory application in intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation, and the children’s involvement in the interventions was generally scarce. The most commonly applied BCT was “instruction in how to perform the behavior.” We identified 16 potentially effective BCTs. The evidence was not sufficiently robust to determine the effectiveness of empowerment interventions with families and preschool-age children. Additional high-quality studies are needed to produce clearer conclusions. Our results are useful for the design and evaluation of future interventions.
