In the current challenging and competitive environment, the perceived support from the organization has a large impact on employee perception, attitude, work behavior, and employee return to the organization. The present study investigates whether perceived organizational support (POS) contribute to the level of employee engagement (EE) for middle level IT professionals in Indian context. Four hundred twenty samples (i.e., IT professionals working at middle level) were collected from different IT industry located in India by using online survey questionnaires. The data collected was further analyzed using regression analysis, factor analysis, reliability and validity analysis, SEM (structural equation modeling), and model fit indices analysis. Results of all analyses revealed a positive and strong relationship between POS and EE. Furthermore, a fit model was explored between POS and EE with their factors. This study would assist practitioners of human resources and organizational development in improving the positive attitude and commitment towards the work of employees.

Drawing on the conservation of resources theory, this study examines the detrimental effect of hindrance stressors on self-rated health among a sample of Chinese public sector employees. Analysis of survey data based on 404 MPA students from a leading Chinese university who are working in various public organizations across China suggested that hindrance stressors were negatively related to both physical and mental health (β = −0.11, p < 0.01 and β = −0.38, p < 0.001, respectively), and emotional exhaustion mediated those relationships (95% bias-corrected confidence intervals for the indirect effects on physical and mental health based on 5000 bootstrapped samples were −1.64 to −0.35 and −3.51 to −1.81, respectively, excluding 0). Furthermore, perceived organizational support moderated the effect of hindrance stressors on emotional exhaustion (β = −0.10, p < 0.05), and moderated the indirect effects of hindrance stressors on physical and mental health via emotional exhaustion (index of moderated mediation was 0.116 with bootstrapped confidence interval of 0.018–0.296 for physical health, and 0.317 with bootstrapped confidence interval of 0.008–0.663 for mental health). The effects of hindrance stressors were weaker when perceived organizational support was high, suggesting a moderating effect. Our findings not only provide important theoretical contributions to the literature on public employees’ work-related stress and associated health outcomes, but also offer practical implications to those who are interested in stress intervention to improve the wellbeing of public employees and general society.

This research investigating the innovative work behavior of teachers and school staff during the Covid-19 pandemic is still rarely studied, so it has contributed to improving the behavior of teachers and school staff in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to analyze and examine the direct influence of workplace spirituality and perceived organizational support on the innovative work behavior of teachers and school staff. Besides, exploring the mediating role of psychological health variables. The research sample was 379 teachers and school staff that is analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that workplace spirituality and perceived organizational support had a direct effect on innovative work behavior.Psychological well-being also affects innovative work behavior. This study also shows that psychological well-being has a role in mediating the influence between work-place spirituality and perceived organizational support for innovative work behavior. This study indicates that workplace spirituality and workplace spirituality can be directly and indirectly through psychological well-being to increase the innovative behavior of teachers and school staff in learning activities at school.

PurposeAmong a sample of 281 active-duty Canadian police officers, the current study investigated whether perceived organizational support (POS) would predict officers' organizational cynicism, stress and emotional exhaustion three months later. The moderating influence of officer voice on these relationships was also examined.Design/methodology/approachIn collaboration with a large policing organization, online surveys collecting quantitative data and soliciting open-ended comments were administered to officers, with a three-month lag separating survey administrations.FindingsThe results reveal that POS predicted significant variance in each of the investigated outcomes. It was found that voice moderated the association between POS and organizational cynicism, but in a manner that suggests a suboptimal voice climate within the organization. Officers provided open-ended qualitative comments that supported this interpretation.Practical implicationsThe evidence supports that if organizational leaders wish to prevent disadvantageous outcomes such as organizational cynicism, stress, emotional exhaustion and their consequents, then advancing both organizational support and a positive voice climate is recommended.Originality/valueThe results suggest that voice interacts with POS to influence organizational cynicism among police, highlighting the importance of responsiveness to voice for police management, and thus serving as an important bridge between theory and practice.
