Symmetries in Quantum Field Theory may have ’t Hooft anomalies. If the symmetry is unbroken in the vacuum, the anomaly implies a nontrivial low-energy limit, such as gapless modes or a topological field theory. If the symmetry is spontaneously broken, for the continuous case, the anomaly implies low-energy theorems about certain couplings of the Goldstone modes. Here we study the case of spontaneously broken discrete symmetries, such as \mathbb{Z}_2ℤ2 and TT. Symmetry breaking leads to domain walls, and the physics of the domain walls is constrained by the anomaly. We investigate how the physics of the domain walls leads to a matching of the original discrete anomaly. We analyze the symmetry structure on the domain wall, which requires a careful analysis of some properties of the unbreakable CPTCPT symmetry. We demonstrate the general results on some examples and we explain in detail the mod 4 periodic structure that arises in the \mathbb{Z}_2ℤ2 and TT case. This gives a physical interpretation for the Smith isomorphism, which we also extend to more general abelian groups. We show that via symmetry breaking and the analysis of the physics on the wall, the computations of certain discrete anomalies are greatly simplified. Using these results we perform new consistency checks on the infrared phases of 2+12+1 dimensional QCD.

A SL (5, ℝ) gauge-invariant topological field theory of gravity and possible gauge unifications are considered in four-dimensions (4D). The problem of quantization is evaluated in the asymptotic safety scenario. "Minimal" BF type models for the high energy limit are physically not quite realistic, a tiny symmetry breaking is needed to recover standard Einsteinian gravity for the macroscopic metrical background with induced cosmological constant.

We discuss the relation between different quantization approaches to topological field theories by deriving a connection between Bogomol’nyi and Langevin equations for stochastic processes which evolve towards an equilibrium state governed by the topological charge.

Some tetrahedra in SUk(2) Chern-Simons-Witten theory are computed. The results can be used to compute an arbitrary tetrahedron inductively by fusing with the fundamental representation. The results obtained are in agreement with those of quantum groups. By associating a (finite) topological field theory (FTFT) to every rational conformal field theory (RCFT), we show that the pentagon and hexagon equations in RCFT follow directly from some skein relations in FTFT. By generalizing the operation of surgery on links in FTFT, we also derive an explicit expression for the modular transformation matrix S(k) of the one-point conformal blocks on a torus in RCFT and the equations satisfied by S(k), in agreement with those required in RCFT. The implication of our results on the general program of classifying RCFT is also discussed.

We show that the vortex equations of the n-dimensional closed Kähler manifolds can be derived from Einstein-Hermitian equations of the (n+1)-dimensional closed Kähler manifolds by setting invariance under translation in the (n+1)th component direction. We construct the topological theory about the vortex pair model through the dimensional reduction of the topological BRST structure.

We study the twisted version of the supersymmetric G/T = SU (n)/ U (1)⊗(n−1) gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model. By studying its fixed points under BRST transformation this model is shown to be reduced to a simple topological Field theory, that is, the topological matter system in the K. Li's theory of two-dimensional gravity for the case of n = 2, and its generalization for n ≥ 3.
